Shapiro won’t be chosen

He paid the settlement of a sexual harassment claim against his closest aide. Back the to coconut tree.

Silly Shapiro. Paying off his aide’s accuser. Why didn’t he just sleep his with wife like I do?

That's nothing compared to what Trump has done. Who's going to point the finger at him ? Republicans ? Choose him, Kamala !

by Anonymousreply 1July 24, 2024 12:37 PM

Shit. Well the Arizona choice is just as great- Josh is OUT!

by Anonymousreply 2July 24, 2024 12:37 PM

Shapiro's office is paying the settlement for his aide. No big deal. Shapiro didn't do anything wrong - his aide did. He's fine.

by Anonymousreply 3July 24, 2024 12:39 PM

He didn’t HAVE to pay for it.

by Anonymousreply 4July 24, 2024 12:42 PM

And this is worse than the GOP presidential candidate?

by Anonymousreply 5July 24, 2024 12:47 PM

I don't find this very elegant, but not really a big point of consideration for the VP vetting. It's not that Shapiro did anything unethical. It sounds like standard operation from an employer point of view. Besides, it's not like this is a skeleton in the closet considering that the story is out and published for months.

by Anonymousreply 6July 24, 2024 12:47 PM

A black and a Jew for a presidential ticket may be too far, even for moderates.

by Anonymousreply 7July 24, 2024 1:01 PM

Oh, brother, R7.

by Anonymousreply 8July 24, 2024 1:04 PM

it's called a demographic choice.

by Anonymousreply 9July 24, 2024 1:06 PM

she should pick mark kelly, beto, or ask raskin to step up IMO

by Anonymousreply 10July 24, 2024 1:06 PM

Beto O'Rourke is not remotely on the list, nor should he be. He can do nothing for her.

by Anonymousreply 11July 24, 2024 1:09 PM

Was Joe Lieberman's Jewishness talked about as being an issue back in 2000? (Al Gore won the popular vote).

by Anonymousreply 12July 24, 2024 1:10 PM

So Kelly it is, then.

by Anonymousreply 13July 24, 2024 1:11 PM

how did it work out for liberman? hmmm?

by Anonymousreply 14July 24, 2024 1:12 PM

Well, R14, he didn't lose because he was Jewish but because he was a goofy, right-leaning Independent. And you spelled his name wrong, Lazy.

by Anonymousreply 15July 24, 2024 1:15 PM

Being Jewish should be a non-issue, but Gen Z are obsessed with Palestine and they hate Biden for being too pro-Israel. So if Shapiro is too "Zionist" for them, it won't be good.

by Anonymousreply 16July 24, 2024 1:16 PM

Shapiro isn't Zionist in the least, R16.

by Anonymousreply 17July 24, 2024 1:18 PM

People here seem to think the Dems should cater to every whim opinion of every fringe voter out there. It doesn't. People will fall in line knowing what the options are. The one or two lunatics in a crowd won't. They are of NO consequence. People here need to stop clutching their pearls.

by Anonymousreply 18July 24, 2024 1:20 PM

How do you jumble up your word order like that, OP? Interesting.

by Anonymousreply 19July 24, 2024 1:21 PM

He exemplifies the kind of guy whose looks are nothing special when they are young but which grow into handsomeness in middle age.

That strong, masculine jaw and those kissable lips make him a looker these days.

by Anonymousreply 20July 24, 2024 1:26 PM

All who should be vetted are being vetted.

by Anonymousreply 21July 24, 2024 1:44 PM

Yet another thread created by our resident MAGA troll.i can’t see the OP at all. He’s been quite prolific trying to steer the narrative. FF this turd and thread.

by Anonymousreply 22July 24, 2024 1:49 PM

Agree, R22.

by Anonymousreply 23July 24, 2024 1:50 PM

The US voted a New Yorker into office who turned out to be a criminal and who is on the ballot again. I think standard demographics considerations are pretty much out the window by now.

by Anonymousreply 24July 24, 2024 2:41 PM

R24, the fact that Dump was once a New Yorker means nothing. New Yorkers themselves voted against him 90% compared to the 10% who voted for him.

by Anonymousreply 25July 24, 2024 3:00 PM

R24, he could have been from any state. He was a national reality tv star and the leader of a personality cult.

by Anonymousreply 26July 24, 2024 3:03 PM

R8 I'm a New Yorker. We have the great melting pot mentality where such a ticket does not phase us in the least, but we also do not assume the rest of the country would embrace a non-white and a non-Christian double bill for the presidency

by Anonymousreply 27July 24, 2024 8:44 PM

[quote] but we also do not assume the rest of the country would embrace a non-white and a non-Christian double bill for the presidency

Bullshit, R27.

by Anonymousreply 28July 24, 2024 8:50 PM

R28 I hope I'm proven wrong, but I am also being realistic with some people's suppressed xenophobic views. Obama got elected in 2008 and 2012 with Biden as VP. That probably gave a level of comfort to some voters. But it also triggered the Tea Party, which is just a modern day version of the John Birch Society.

by Anonymousreply 29July 24, 2024 8:58 PM

[quote] Was Joe Lieberman's Jewishness talked about as being an issue back in 2000? (Al Gore won the popular vote).

Yes, it was indeed. And America was much less 'conservative' and 'sensitive' about everything back then than they are today.

by Anonymousreply 30July 24, 2024 8:59 PM

Whyyy do these politicians wade into this shit? Did he not consider, "This may come back to haunt me someday?".

by Anonymousreply 31July 24, 2024 9:54 PM

Well, I'm pretty sure (nothing is certain) that Harris will take Pennsylvania with or without him as VP, but I don't believe that to the majority of Democrats (including black Americans, who are a massive voting bloc), the idea of a Jewish VP will mean a fucking thing.

by Anonymousreply 32July 24, 2024 10:50 PM

More and more Andy Beshear becomes the perfect candidate for the job. If the only real complaint is that he's a little dull, just think of it as a plus.

by Anonymousreply 33July 24, 2024 11:53 PM

I think he's the best option as VP.
