We have the technology now to wage a full blown campaign in a matter of weeks, not months or years. The "permanent campaign" and all the high dollar fundraising that goes on two years out from election day, may go the way of the dinosaurs. I believe an effective national Presidential campaign can be assembled and waged in about 6-8 months time. I'm considering the field operations, office leases and local operations into it. So in answer to your original question, this is not hype, this is a fucking presidential campaign with momentum and at least one reason for that is that it is fresh, and moving fast. The others were plodding along, stale, traditional, etc. This combines traditional with 21st century.

Yes the Dems in the south became for the most part gop after Johnson and the voting rights act. At one time the Dems owned the south.
