This makes me sad.

by Anonymousreply 1July 22, 2024 11:26 PM

We like it!

by Anonymousreply 2July 22, 2024 11:30 PM

That place is horrifying!

Land Value only.

by Anonymousreply 3July 22, 2024 11:38 PM

Charming...so cozy.

by Anonymousreply 4July 22, 2024 11:41 PM

There’s a Spinal Top joke in this, but I can’t come up with it.

by Anonymousreply 5July 22, 2024 11:41 PM

just let those poolboys try to get out!

by Anonymousreply 6July 22, 2024 11:47 PM

The fireplace looks like something Freddy Kruger would have in his living room.

by Anonymousreply 7July 22, 2024 11:47 PM

I swear they filmed AHS Apocalypse here.

by Anonymousreply 8July 22, 2024 11:48 PM

Can anyone read what it says on the bathtub? "Please drown me and end this torture", maybe?

by Anonymousreply 9July 22, 2024 11:53 PM

If you see “runes” embossed or engraved on something, you know the owner of that thing is some kind of supremacist or batshit crazy.

by Anonymousreply 10July 22, 2024 11:53 PM

WTF

by Anonymousreply 11July 22, 2024 11:54 PM

The pool looks nice.

by Anonymousreply 12July 22, 2024 11:55 PM

This will probably appeal to some rap artist (who's actually been to prison) and can also appreciate those kind of thick concrete barrier walls to prevent a drive-by shooting.

by Anonymousreply 13July 23, 2024 12:43 AM

R13 = Century 21 Employee of the Month.

by Anonymousreply 14July 23, 2024 12:45 AM

Also, many of the rooms look like they can be easily hosed down in case there's ever any blood splatter.

by Anonymousreply 15July 23, 2024 12:54 AM

Wow. That's horrific. I know it's attempting to replicate brutalist architecture, though, even in that respect it seems to fail and mixes in some unbelievably cheesy design choices like those bathrooms. What the hell is the story behind this place? Who commissioned it? Who is the architect??

by Anonymousreply 16July 23, 2024 1:06 AM

East Berlin communist chic.

by Anonymousreply 17July 23, 2024 1:08 AM

Like living in a post - apocalyptic video game

by Anonymousreply 18July 23, 2024 1:13 AM

R16 This article at SFGate talks about the property and its owner, James Jannard, "scion of Oakley sunglasses and sportswear" and what he was trying to accomplish in building it. It sounds like there was more than one architect involved. It's main inspiration is supposed to be Stonehenge.

Yasss, Queeen

A dissection would certainly give it some much needed color.

The view and pool are nice.

We've found our new Datalounge World Headquarters! -+

by Anonymousreply 25July 23, 2024 1:28 AM

Zees would be very nice home for me and Barron after I divorce fat orange retard husband.

by Anonymousreply 26July 23, 2024 1:29 AM

50 Shades of Gray - The House

by Anonymousreply 27July 23, 2024 1:30 AM

The owner, James Jannard just broke the California record for home pricing when he sold his Malibu estate for 210M. Unbelievable.

by Anonymousreply 28July 23, 2024 1:31 AM

He could have hired Richard Meier for that kind of money and he went with this instead?

by Anonymousreply 29July 23, 2024 1:32 AM

Mid-century Mengele - stunning!

by Anonymousreply 30July 23, 2024 1:40 AM

Gawd. It looks like a bad Star Wars set.

by Anonymousreply 31July 23, 2024 1:46 AM

OMG, R28, is this a Strip Mall or a residence?

by Anonymousreply 32July 23, 2024 1:49 AM

Truly R128 this is the most hideously designed mansion I have seen in a long time. It's like a parody of classical architecture. Who signs off on something like this?

by Anonymousreply 33July 23, 2024 1:53 AM

R8- I was just thinking that they filmed one of the final episodes of Beef there... Wasn't this Maria Bello's character's home????

by Anonymousreply 34July 23, 2024 1:54 AM

Very Kehlsteinhaus look to the place.

by Anonymousreply 35July 23, 2024 2:02 AM

No, Mr. Bond. I expect you to die!

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 36July 23, 2024 2:04 AM

This fucker creates some of the tackiest sunglasses on Earth and then creates...two of the most hideous mansions I've ever seen. The interior of the Malibu place is actually fine - but the outside looks like a cheap McMansion.

Make is make sense!

by Anonymousreply 37July 23, 2024 2:21 AM

I sorta like the outside but OMG the inside, it feels like a prison.

by Anonymousreply 38July 23, 2024 2:22 AM

R20 Is this the room from the mob movie Hostel? Or an attempt to recreate it. Scary realistic.

by Anonymousreply 39July 23, 2024 2:31 AM

The listing says "industrial accents"!!

by Anonymousreply 40July 23, 2024 2:32 AM

I can just hear Robin Leach now , “with Nuremberg wishes and steam punk dreams!”

by Anonymousreply 41July 23, 2024 2:40 AM

“Saw” meets “Purge”

by Anonymousreply 42July 23, 2024 2:40 AM

Good locale for a skin-heads and punks orgy.

by Anonymousreply 43July 23, 2024 2:46 AM

Is there a panic (attack) room for when you become absolutely frightened of your own house 😱

by Anonymousreply 44July 23, 2024 3:09 AM

There should be criminal charges...

by Anonymousreply 45July 23, 2024 3:13 AM

That Jannard guy is very “I’m 70 but everyone tells me I look 35”.

by Anonymousreply 46July 23, 2024 3:41 AM

Architect: "What would you like me to design, you did mention modern. What did you have in mind?" Customer: "I want it cold. Sterile, as sterile as possible. As brutal as brutalism can get. I want a place to store my Batmobile too."

It looks like something out of a Justice League episode at least. I'm sorry, but whoever designed this, really wanted to look like something out of fiction. And it's not fun at all!

by Anonymousreply 47July 23, 2024 3:44 AM

If they ever do a remake of Wizard of Oz and need a castle for the Wicked Witch of the West . . .

by Anonymousreply 48July 23, 2024 4:39 AM

Now all of you morons who pay ridiculous prices for $5 worth of sunglasses can see where your money went.

by Anonymousreply 49July 23, 2024 4:46 AM

What the ever-loving fuck is that monstrosity? It does look like the lair of some super villain. Does it have rooms where the walls close in with blades coming out?

by Anonymousreply 50July 23, 2024 4:50 AM

Even the pool looks cold and unwelcoming.

by Anonymousreply 51July 23, 2024 4:52 AM

I think it is an improved version of this stunning structure in downtown Chicago.

by Anonymousreply 53July 23, 2024 5:09 AM

I have a friend, a very beautiful woman, who dates a guy who’s friends with Jannard’s son, Jim Jr.

She has been there many times and has posted pics of the place, and some of its stunning view.

She told me she was really turned off by the place when she first got there, saying something like “brutalism is supposed to be for the outside only!” But she said the place really grew on her and she slept like a baby the second time they slept over.

by Anonymousreply 54July 23, 2024 5:11 AM

^^^ sorry, I forgot to say where she’s posted the pics. On Instagram. She lives in LA now buy used to live here in nyc. I saw the pics and asked her about the place because the views are stunning.

by Anonymousreply 55July 23, 2024 5:12 AM

Fuck this is absolutely hideous. OP, I think you have found the ugliest house ever. Thanks, I hate it. I've actually seen prisons that look nicer inside and out. Living in this would be a punishment in itself

As R3 says, its a land value only proposition, although I guess you could gut it and make it into a huge carpark, cover it all with greenery, and then plonk an actual nice home on top of it. Otherwise I'd flatten it and start over

[quote]If you see “runes” embossed or engraved on something, you know the owner of that thing is some kind of supremacist or batshit crazy.

R10 Why not both?

R20 I wondered about the purpose of that room too, and yes, it DOES look like a room where dissections would be done. And maybe have been, I would not be surprised

The house at R28 isnt great either, but at least it isnt an absolute monstrosity and is actually livable inside. The exterior is bad but at least it isnt offensive like the one OP posted

If I had to choose something in a modern style that Falling Water knockoff that was the subject of a thread here linked below is far far nicer, not sterile like this horror

[quote] I wondered about the purpose of that room too, and yes, it DOES look like a room where dissections would be done. And maybe have been, I would not be surprised

It looks like some kind of gallery or something. It’s set up like a little museum. Probably used to have things out on display.

by Anonymousreply 57July 23, 2024 6:18 AM

I just don’t know where to start

by Anonymousreply 58July 23, 2024 10:07 AM

Reminds me of the house from The Invisible Man. Steve Martin likes concrete houses...maybe they could sell it to him.

by Anonymousreply 59July 23, 2024 11:28 AM

That's about as hideous as it gets. The only person I could see buying that monstrosity is Kanye West, and he doesn't have the money for something like that anymore.

It looks like something from a sci-fi horror movie. I predict it will go through many price reductions before it ever sells.

by Anonymousreply 60July 23, 2024 11:52 AM

Needs more books.

by Anonymousreply 61July 23, 2024 11:58 AM

It looks like a Vin Diesel film set on Crematoria.

by Anonymousreply 62July 23, 2024 12:12 PM

It looks like something that would be created by a Patrick Bateman type, if he wanted to live in his very own Galactic Empire's Death Star. It's a horrendously ugly concrete and cement monstrosity that doesn't have an ounce of warmth and I wouldn't be surprised if someone told me that it has a hidden trophy room in some corner, where the current owner keeps mementos of his victims.

Who would EVER want to waste USD 68 million on this aberration that will have to be demolished so they can build a decent home in tis place, when they could get a MUCH nicer house with actual land surrounding it for a modicum of that price? It just doesn't make any sense.

Of course, some Saudi degenerate or Indian crook will love it and cover everything in gold, add rococo furniture and hideous 1980s sofas and keep some of their enslaved staff there, after they've stolen their passports.

by Anonymousreply 63July 23, 2024 12:18 PM

He basically built it as a storage locker/meeting space. It looks a bit like a conference center, so that makes sense. There's way too much building for the plot of land and I'd imagine that it creates drainage problems for nearby properties when LA gets one of its occasional driving rains.

by Anonymousreply 64July 23, 2024 12:23 PM

You can't say it didn't commit to the bit.

by Anonymousreply 65July 23, 2024 12:25 PM

[quote] It's main inspiration is supposed to be Stonehenge.

Are ancient monuments allowed to sue for slander?

Asking for a friend.

by Anonymousreply 66July 23, 2024 12:32 PM

Because Stonehenge has an infinity pool and is made of cement?

by Anonymousreply 67July 23, 2024 1:00 PM

It tells you something when people can't live with art. This place looks like the android factory. I'd kill myself here.

by Anonymousreply 68July 23, 2024 2:46 PM

[quote] That place is horrifying!

‘Tis.

by Anonymousreply 69July 23, 2024 2:52 PM

Maybe, Elon will buy this to imprison his daughter Vivian.

by Anonymousreply 70July 23, 2024 2:52 PM

Now's the time on Sprockets when we dance.

by Anonymousreply 71July 23, 2024 3:14 PM

It would be easy to clean up the guts and blood spatter. I like it!

by Anonymousreply 72July 23, 2024 3:21 PM

It needs a little color.

by Anonymousreply 73July 23, 2024 3:40 PM

Finally, a place to store my Millennium Falcon.

by Anonymousreply 74July 23, 2024 3:40 PM

In that one article, it says Jannard uses this place as his "urban pied-à-terre."

by Anonymousreply 75July 23, 2024 6:47 PM

I'm going to get you, Austin Powers!

by Anonymousreply 76July 23, 2024 8:56 PM

Tax the rich

by Anonymousreply 77July 24, 2024 8:29 AM

Looks like it was designed by Delia Deetz and Otho Fenlock from Beetlejuice.

by Anonymousreply 78July 24, 2024 8:43 AM

I think it’s what Eraserhead predicted

by Anonymousreply 79July 24, 2024 12:02 PM

Brutalist. The design whose time should never have come.

by Anonymousreply 80July 24, 2024 7:04 PM

Perfect for an Elon and Grimes love nest.
