It’s time to unite around Vice President Harris and her running mate, who will hopefully be Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro.
She IS Kamala Harris.

She will, r3. The anti-Trump coalition is huge but a section of them were concerned about Biden’s age. That is no longer an Issue. Trump is now the too old candidate and he’ll look even older against Harris.

Mighty Joe Biden staying in office means he can focus on running the country while being one of the best surrogates and fundraisers for Kamala, and she gets to campaign with her running mate 24/7. That’s why the Republicans are calling for Joe to step down. They know him remaining in office gives Dems the best of both worlds.

She needs someone who will help her lockdown Pennsylvania, Michigan and Wisconsin. That puts Josh Shapiro and Gretchen Whitmer in the lead. Third would be Senator Mark Kelly from Arizona, who could help block that state from Trump. Andy Beshear is from Kentucky. He wouldn’t be the worst choice, but I think she’d be better served with a swing state politician.

American Jews have been some of the best, most reliable allies of the Democratic Party for decades now. It’s time to cast those electoral fears aside and show bravery in face of antisemitism and prejudice. Let’s demonstrate to our Jewish friends that we stand with them just as they’ve stood by us. The Jews need to know that the Democratic Party is their safe haven.

Can Ky be won? It’s a question.
The ticket would be exciting and formable. Will they win? Like any election wait and see after the votes are cast. But it would shake the race up as much as the debate did.

You people really are incapable of objectively discussing anything. It's always the childish "either they're all good or all bad" mentality. "All Hail Queen Kamala" is a good example. The woman doesn't even have the nomination yet. Yet the coronation is already underway. She's perfect, you are not allowed to criticize her in any way.

For example, someone with black-and-white thinking might describe a partner as either an angel or the devil incarnate.

by Anonymous | reply 168 | July 23, 2024 4:04 PM |
Everyone should keep in mind that the media is now in a honeymoon period with Kamala. She's the new shiny thing that is fresh and exciting. They'll soon enough getting around to trashing her, because they need their close horse race. How long before the Andrea Mitchell types start in on Kamala's job performance? I bet they'll start ripping into her at the convention. Also, these media people are TERRIFIED of appearing to be biased towards Democrats, so they bend over backwards to go easy on Trump and the GQP.
by Anonymous | reply 169 | July 23, 2024 4:24 PM |
R169 are you sure people in the GOP will attack her and the press will look closer into her background just because she is running for president? If so that for the warning, I had no idea,
Does this sort of thing happen in every US election ?
by Anonymous | reply 170 | July 23, 2024 4:30 PM |
Um, what's your point R170? I was just pointing out that the media is the problem as usual. They only care about ad revenue, clicks, and shares. Right now they're going easy on Kamala but that will change. We had weeks of non-stop coverage of 'Biden is too old and should drop out' with nary a mention of all the batshit insane stuff Trump says on a daily basis.
by Anonymous | reply 171 | July 23, 2024 4:35 PM |
I think people are smart enough to realize we are now on a 48 hour high. And the campaign will now take on a new level of attack.
And she will and is being attacked 24/7 and in very ugly ways..
That’s politics. Looking for someone to be on the ticket who can’t be attacked for anything is just not going to happen.
Maybe you need to change the channel. I see plenty of bad stuff about trump , and right now nothing but good stuff about Harris——except from the DL Harris trolls who seem to hate her.
by Anonymous | reply 172 | July 23, 2024 4:51 PM |
R169 I fully expect the media to turn on her, but it is possible she may be treated gentler than we expect, because Vance is such asublimeasshole. And now that it has been firmly established that age was a burning concern of the Media's we can now publicly insist they focus on Trump who is OLD...in addition to all his other problems.

This is not a DEI situation where she has to be cuddled protected and promoted by the press .which is not the job of the press anyway ..
She will eat trump alive. Now badger him until he does sit for a debate. Which he won’t but rag on him for being a coward then.
And this the press has been easy on trump is total bullshit. Everyone knows what trump is. Even those who will vote for him.

[QUOTE]Harris is listing out her campaign pledges, including building a strong middle class, protecting unions, and preserving and expanding abortion rights. They are essentially the same promises as Biden’s. What’s different is the messenger.
[QUOTE]Harris delivered a full-throated message on abortion access, declaring to applause that if Congress passed a law to protect access she would “sign it into law.” Democrats had hoped that Biden would press on this policy issue at the debate, but he flubbed his response.
[QUOTE]“What kind of country do we want to live in?” Harris asks. “A Kamala one!” an attendee shouts out, to cheers. She laughs.
[QUOTE]As someone who has covered campaign events led by Barack Obama, Donald Trump, Joe Biden and now Kamala Harris, the enthusiasm of her crowd looks and sounds much like what I saw in high school gyms in the midwest back in 2008. If she's already pulling even or coming up even with him in some polls, think about where she'll be weeks from now after her own convention bounce. I wouldn't bet against a Bey or TSwift appearance for Kamala, perhaps not at the convention but if things are really close down to the wire in late October, watch for a possible endorsement appearance from either or both. Beyonce I would bet would be happy to show up for her at a rally or show.
If both were to show up together, with Harris, it would be an appearance for the ages. It would just about cover the entire youth demographic in the US.

R165 No it's the fact that when you go on these threads you can't have a reasonable discussion about the actual person, their pros and cons. First it was Biden. Mighty Joe Biden, the greatest person and president, you can't say a word against Biden, he's perfect, la-la-la I'm not listening, he doesn't have dementia, it's a stutter. His record as a Senator is perfect, in fact, there is no prior record. The polls don't matter, everyone who doesn't love him is MAGA. Shut up, Boris. Now it's exactly the same with Kamala. And it's regarded as normal. And as for trolls, I think there are definitely some paid shills and/or Democratic Party operatives in these threads, always name-calling and ostracizing anyone not kissing ass.

by Anonymous | reply 230 | July 24, 2024 1:54 PM |
I'm going to assume you all are still watching and listening to the pundits who were telling you up until a couple of weeks ago that Biden was "sharp as a tack" and great "behind closed doors," and "This Biden is the best Biden". Most here seemed willing to run a mentally declining man as president. Then when Jake Tapper, et all decided it was no longer viable, everybody switches, unquestioningly. I'm not contemptuous, just trying to make you see it.
R230 I don't know anyone--ANYONE--who cares if Harris had sex with anyone while unmarried. Name anyone who is saying this makes her unqualified to run for president, or even that it's bad. What people are suggesting is that she may have been promoted or given a leg up over others for sleeping with "the boss'-- so to speak.

Was Willie Brown, as mayor, even her boss at that time? She was a local prosecutor, correct? Whom did she report to. If it wasn't him, then all bets regarding this claim are off.
Harris was a young, attractive, intelligent and sociable single woman fresh out of law school in the 90s. She would've had dating offers from several wealthy and powerful men in the Bay Area, and gone out with her pick of them as she was wont to do. She would have also been at the head of the line for promotion, early on, due to the same characteristics. It doesn't have to be linked to her sex or dating life.

Reporters’ remarks on Kamala’s event in Indianapolis today:
[QUOTE]Today’s speech from Harris is technically an official White House event, but she is — not surprisingly — delivering a version of the campaign stump speech she debuted this week in Delaware and Wisconsin. It is, so far, slightly toned down in its contrast of her vision with Donald J. Trump's, but she is reciting the accomplishments of the Biden administration and explaining what she would do as president if elected.
[QUOTE]Harris just gave a clear and succinct recitation of some of the Biden administration’s biggest accomplishments. President Biden often complained about not getting enough credit for what he had achieved. But in his stump speeches, at least, he could meander and digress through what he had done as president.
[QUOTE]“We are not playing around,” Harris said to laughs and applause in the crowd. She gave a full-throated message on the Democrats’ policy position on abortion access, saying she would “sign it into law.” This is quite the contrast from Biden’s garbled remarks about Roe v. Wade at the debate.
[QUOTE]Harris barely said Trump’s name in her speech today and she walked off to a trumpet fanfare instead of Beyonce’s “Freedom,” but the substance of her remarks and contrast with Republicans were quite similar to her campaign rally yesterday in Wisconsin. Expect that to continue as her campaign progresses.

The best thing about a Democrat being elected is that a lot of posters will shut up and not share their simplistic political views for the next 4 years, vs. if Trump is elected, when there will be daily outrage threads and we'll have to listen to what Whoopie Goldberg thinks.
by Anonymous | reply 254 | July 25, 2024 12:45 PM |
R233 This will be the third time the process has been rigged. Donna Brazile and Elizabeth Warren both stated publicly the process was rigged in 2016 against Bernie Sanders. In 2020 Obama pulled strings prior to Super Tuesday to see that several candidates dropped out on the eve of ST to kill Bernie's momentum and eliminate these competitors to Biden (who came in 4th place in NH). This year, the Biden primary was not competitive. The party changed the order of traditional primary states, etc. Normally even an incumbent president will be challenged in a primary. Now we have Harris, already "chosen" as the candidate, rather than at least having an open convention. This is the "democracy" everyone is voting to defend, supposedly.

R255 has a lot of revisionist history in that post. The powers that be didn’t have to force those 2020 candidates out: they weren’t winning any states and were running out of money. What the hell did you expect them to do? Their campaigns were on fumes. What state was Amy Klobuchar about to win, R255? What states were looking good for Pete? There was no point to them staying in the race!

Harris for President tore into former President Donald Trump over a Fox News interview in which he referred to Vice President Kamala Harris as “garbage” among other things.
The Harris campaign responded with a memo — entitled “Statement on a 78-Year-Old Criminal’s Fox News Appearance” — claiming Trump is lashing out because he’s rattled, and attacking him over his age and criminal record — among other things:

by Anonymous | reply 267 | July 25, 2024 4:49 PM |
It's not out of line, they need to do some hard swinging at these ass clowns to gain some respect and traction with the independent voters, who'll decide the election in November. They can't just sit there and keep taking the hits, trying to take some kind of high road all the time. The uninformed swing voters pay attention to this stuff believe it or not, they want to see some pep and vigor in a candidate.
They don't need to get fully down into the mud, but these kind of responses are needed to keep some respect in the game. You don't hide or ignore bullies, you have to confront at certain points.

But Kamala shouldn't be preaching to the Democrats who are mostly in her corner. She is catering to the Trans and all the silly Wokness. In the days since Vice President Kamala Harris launched her presidential bid, more than 170,000 volunteers have joined her cause, her campaign says. The numbers are yet another example of the momentum Harris has harnessed in the week since President Biden’s historic withdrawal from the race.
The enthusiasm has also stretched down ballot, as new donations and volunteers flock to Democratic congressional campaigns. Florida has seen the largest volunteer totals of any battleground state with more than 7,000 as of Thursday.

The fact that the trolls can't explain how an open convention wouldn't be even more elitist, as well as introducing chaos, shows that they're just stirring the shit.

Vice President Kamala Harris is enjoying a bounce in her favorability rating among Americans just days after President Joe Biden bowed out of the presidential race and endorsed her,.
The vice president's favorability rating has jumped to 43%, with an unfavorability rating of 42%. A week ago, Harris’ favorability rating was 35%, while 46% viewed her unfavorability.
44% of independents have a favorable view of Harris, up from only 28% a week ago. Her unfavorability rating among independents is now 40%, which is a slight drop from 47% last week.
Trump's favorability rating dropped slightly from 40%, measured in the week following the attempted assassination and the Republican National Convention, to 36% in the most recent poll.

“Stopping a dictatorship” may be good enough to motivate you, but economic policy is what motivates most other Americans. The Dems need to get better at sloganeering. Bernie Sanders is absolutely right that Kamala needs to sell Americans on what she will do to make their lives better. He wants a seat at the campaign table in return for his endorsement, and Kamala would be wise to take him up on his offer. Bernie can help shape a positive, simple economic message that will motivate the poor and middle class to vote Democrat.

NYT, July 19th: Representative Nancy Pelosi of California, the former speaker, recently told her colleagues in the California delegation that if President Biden were to end his campaign she would favor the “competitive” process of an open primary rather than an anointment of Vice President Kamala Harris as the new Democratic nominee.
If there was the possibility of an open primary (less than ten days ago) then clearly your argument is flawed. Pelosi would not have used the word "anointment" if every primary vote for Biden was already a vote for Harris as potential president. That is nonsense.
The only vote she got on a national level was as Biden's VP in the general election in 2020, and her term lasts from 1/20/2021 until 1/20/2025. Nobody voted for her to be the 2024 Democratic nominee.

There is a vast anti-Trump coalition in this country. Hillary couldn't keep it together but we also didn't know how awful Trump would be in 2016. Biden stitched it together but not with a lot of enthusiasm. This feels different though. Harris seems to be bringing out an energy that Biden just couldn't muster.
I hope that's the case. Four more years of Trump is a dire prospect for many reasons.

We should select a color for her inauguration outfit. Not red, not blue since she already wears that frequently and not white since it will be January. Not a fan of winter white, don't want to blend into the snowy background. At any rate, nothing conservative but not in your face, either. A beautiful neutral pink would work.

Kamala Harris is completely a DEI hire. She was polling at 2% in 2020 and was chosen as VP because she was a female of color (and that was the only reason). You don't have to take my word for it - the WhiteHouse.gov website says so (as shown below).

[quote] Do you feel bad for Willie Brown’s wife when you had an affair with him when he was twice your age? What did you receive for having that affair?
Assuming that this spellbindingly irrelevant consideration should guide our presidential choice, what on earth should we do? Donald Trump began a relationship at 47 with a 23-year-old who was trying to break into showbusiness while married (and not long-separated as in the case of Willie Brown) at the time. I think we are screwed, so to speak, either way. (Unless you have some weird ideas about such relationships being shameful to the woman only.)
by Anonymous | reply 551 | August 2, 2024 12:50 AM |
[quote] Kamala Harris is completely a DEI hire. She was polling at 2% in 2020 and was chosen as VP because she was a female of color (and that was the only reason).
Everyone on the thread seems to recognize already that you are an idiot, but you do repeat a brain-dead refrain that has achieved some currency so it's worth pointing on the particular weirdness of your stupidity.
What is it about your tiny, diseased brain that causes it to notice only Harris's prior electoral failure and not the more numerous and more humiliating prior failures of Joe Biden and Donald Trump? Biden had been running for president for so long and with such humiliating effect that no one dreamed he would ever be president until a much more talented black politician picked him as vice-president ecause he needed an old white guy to balance the ticket. Why did your tiny brain not register Biden's more glaring history of electoral failure (which included dropping out of the primaries in disgrace for appropriating a British politician's personal history) and his rescue from oblivion on the basis of racial balance? Is there a reason why failures are notable only when they involve blacks or women? Are the racial and demographic considerations that elevated Biden to the vice-presidency and ultimately the presidency unimportant because he is automatically qualified in your mind because he is white.
Similarly, Donald Trump, unlike Harris, had never won a single election and had a history of totally humiliating primary performances until 2016 Did those past failures disqualify him? Would Donald Trump be known by anyone outside of his family if he hadn't inherited a fortune from his father, something that was virtually impossible for any black person of his generation to enjoy? Donald Trump would never, ever have become president without that unfair advantage of birth which was essentially available only to white people. Why is that not an affront to fairness and democracy?
Why has your tiny, diseased brain never noted that in all vice-presidential choices, demographic, religious, electoral college, and socio-economic profiles often dictate the choice. Dan Quayle was chosen for his youthfulness. Pence was chosen for his religious identity. Biden was chosen for his race and his working class appeal. Why is choosing someone who appeals to black voters more dangerous and offensive than those cases? Is that because of some view your brain has of the inherent abilities of black people and women?

I don’t know why the media still fails to recognize that Pennsylvania is the most important state on the map now. Gives a whole new meaning to “Keystone State.” It’s literally the biggest swing state where a few thousand votes in Bucks County can determine who the fuck will be our next President. Yet the media doesn’t treat PA the way they did Ohio and Florida.
But there’s one person who recognizes its importance: Boss Kamala. And she will lock Pennsylvania down when she selects Josh Shapiro as her running mate, waltzing her way to that magical number: 270.
by Anonymous | reply 561 | August 2, 2024 1:56 AM |
Why do we think that selection will deliver PA for her? Spell it out for me, because I don't see it. He won PA by a lot, but he was running against a MAGA idiot who barely ran a campaign. You think his statewide popularity in 2022 translates into a vote against Trump for president?

r551 Trump started his affair with Marla Maples while still firmly married to Ivana, recall the wild confrontations on the ski slopes between the two ladies in front of others, Trump wasn't even smart enough to take his mistress on a separate vacation lol.
Recall too his out-of-wedlock child (Tiffany, born two months before the wedding), affairs with Playboy models (Karen McDonough), porn stars while married (Stormy) and sexual assaults he apparently confused with 'dating' (E Jean, etc).
I don't care if Harris banged Willie Brown in public, she was single and free as the breeze and he was openly separated. She's practically a nun next to Trump.
