Love Jeremy Northam He is one of my favorite actors

by Anonymousreply 1July 20, 2024 8:18 PM

Ordering pizza online, that’s crazy!

by Anonymousreply 2July 20, 2024 8:19 PM

R1 = Jeremy Northam

by Anonymousreply 3July 20, 2024 8:20 PM

Jeremy Northam could still put his willy up me

by Anonymousreply 4July 20, 2024 8:30 PM

A ridiculous film with ludicrous product placement including a long cameo shot featuring Fed-ex, it is one of my favorite films.

Even the poster featuring a gaping mouth is dumb, I love it.

by Anonymousreply 5July 20, 2024 8:30 PM

When Dennis Miller was a thing.

by Anonymousreply 6July 20, 2024 8:32 PM

With that girl from the bus.

by Anonymousreply 7July 20, 2024 8:39 PM

My CS professor in summer school back in 2003 played this for us at the end of the term, remarking what a dated and cringey setup the whole thing was, and it was only about 8 years hence.

by Anonymousreply 8July 20, 2024 8:42 PM

Give us the disk and we’ll give you your life back.

She's gone to the Moscone Center!

by Anonymousreply 10July 20, 2024 8:53 PM

You must be watching it on Pluto TV. I like the last 30 minutes or so and try to catch that. I especially like when they kill off that freeper cunt fuck Dennis Miller. Other than that it's a boring-ass movie.

by Anonymousreply 11July 20, 2024 9:10 PM

R11 yes it just ended on PlutoTV. Now that Clooney-Kidman POS is on: The Peacemaker. Well-filmed and alright plot but they have the chemistry of two carrots. It feels like a very corporate movie because it was trying so hard to make both of them big action stars.

The way it (and Hackers) portray computers is laughably stupid, and yet I love both dearly.

by Anonymousreply 13July 20, 2024 9:22 PM

R13 the innocence of the world then

by Anonymousreply 14July 20, 2024 9:23 PM

R13 you know before we all started watching bukkake porn daily and posting our asshole pics on Craigslist

by Anonymousreply 15July 20, 2024 9:24 PM

I am a die hard Sandy Bullock fan and The Net and While You Were Sleeping is what made me so.

I LOVE this totally stupid, totally ridiculous film! I've watched it at least twenty times.

by Anonymousreply 16July 20, 2024 9:25 PM

Jeremy Northam has big dick face but he's clearly grown out of it.

I was just thinking about this movie recently. It's so hopelessly dated, but that's part of its charm.

An updated version would be about artificial intelligence or crypto or some other annoying bullshit.

by Anonymousreply 18July 21, 2024 12:05 AM

R18 and it would have that slick Instagram look that is ruining everything

by Anonymousreply 19July 21, 2024 12:07 AM

I was 10 when this came out and I loved it so much. We bought a used cassette from Blockbuster and I must have watched it a couple dozen times through age 20. It was dated (technologically) probably within a year of its release, but it’s just good clean fun.

R16 I’ll fight anyone who tells me that While You Were Sleeping isn’t one of the best romcoms of the 90s, and it doubles as a Christmas movie as far as I’m concerned. I’m not the biggest Sandy B. fan, and I prefer Julia Roberts overall. But credit where it’s due: SB did a bunch of really delightful work early on across multiple genres.

by Anonymousreply 20July 21, 2024 1:27 AM

I like While You Were Sleeping. But why did two grown men have a little girl sister?

by Anonymousreply 21July 21, 2024 1:31 AM

R20 she does have a great filmography and actually disappears into her earlier roles. Better actress than Julia, who even at her best in Erin B was still Julie the movie star, her and Clooney can’t act they just have charisma. Schwarzenegger is more versatile than Julia.

by Anonymousreply 22July 21, 2024 1:36 AM

Bullock picking up her daughter at the end of this scene in Hope Floats was unscripted. She said that she couldn't leave the actress (the sublime Mae Whitman) alone at the gate the way the scene had been written.

Irwin Winkler produced some fantastic movies, but he was a terrible director.

R24, that's definitely Julia's best romcom. I do think While You Were Sleeping is still better. But by just a nose.

Frankly, I will watch either whenever they come on.

R23, Hope Floats is underrated. It's a teensy treacly, but that's part of its charm. And has Mae Whitman ever not been great?

by Anonymousreply 26July 21, 2024 4:27 AM

Bill Pullman was so cute back then.

by Anonymousreply 27July 21, 2024 4:31 AM

So silly, but like R5, I love it. It's one of those childhood "anytime" movies that never really gets old, along with movies like Speed and Twister.

I really like the music that plays right after Angela escapes from Devlin across the drawbridge.

by Anonymousreply 28July 21, 2024 4:44 AM

[quote]Schwarzenegger is more versatile than Julia.

Same as Tom Cruise and Zendaya. Seems like the more limited you are, the more the clueless masses adore you.

by Anonymousreply 31July 22, 2024 1:30 PM

I always think about remakes for movies like this and realize it would be horrible, because the new actresses are so weak (like helpless little reverse feminists with no agency) but also arrogant and vocal frying. Can imagine Emma Roberts or another Zillenial displaying vulnerability but all being strong? No, the dialogue would be “ummm I’m calling my father!” (in upspeak)

by Anonymousreply 32July 22, 2024 2:24 PM

The remake would star Daisy Edgar Jones as an app developer who has to go on the run after a deep fake of her killing a politician gets posted to X by a mysterious hacking group. Her boyfriend, played by Dan Stevens, is a crypto bro who's in on the conspiracy. In the end, we discover the hacking group is a new AI platform that accidentally glitched during a software update.

by Anonymousreply 33July 22, 2024 4:31 PM

I’d watch that, r33

by Anonymousreply 34July 22, 2024 5:23 PM

R34 you'd be the only one.

by Anonymousreply 35July 23, 2024 12:48 AM

I'd never seen this before last night. It was fun! Floppy disks, the shocking modernity of ordering pizza and making travel arrangements online, the 1990s cartoony graphics, MODEMS ...

Most hilarious part was after the hackers took down all the flight schedules, they all flipped back to BOARDING at the same time, like such an outage wouldn't take a week to unsnarl.

by Anonymousreply 36August 1, 2024 1:26 AM

It was pretty good. I enjoyed it. It was a bit before its time. Had it been made abut 10 years later it could have been great.

by Anonymousreply 37August 1, 2024 1:34 AM

[quote]Jeremy Northam has big dick face

Uh, no.

by Anonymousreply 38August 1, 2024 3:11 AM

Sandra was beautiful then.
