This morning's fantasy is PB debating Trump - and with all that grace, wit, charm and speed, leaving him a babbling useless wreck with no means of recovery. It's obviously awful to contrast PB's high talent and youth with the serious problem at the top.

This is a pandering Hillbilly attacking another Hillbilly. Also---->> Vance studied law while Pete was learning French in college. Not exactly intellectual equals. Buttigieg has never done anything for the gay community.

R6, I'm scratching my head over your law vs. French comparison. As someone who has studied both, I can tell you they are about equally challenging, if in different ways. And neither law nor French is anywhere as challenging as, say, a STEM field.
Comparing JDV's and PB's intellects is unproductive, anyway, as they are entirely different on so many other levels as to be different species.
by Anonymous | reply 18 | July 20, 2024 12:02 PM |

Also, I think Bill would have laughed at Pete saying that JD Vance said whatever he needed to say to get ahead, pointing out that Pete does that too.

If he wants to get ahead, he's going to have to run for something. Being elected only as the mayor of South Bend + his bad record at DOT is not going to be enough. If he runs and wins, he has a future. If he runs and loses, he falls back into Beto territory.

It also seems that disproportionately many aspiring politicians choose the profession, and if it's only to get a degree in, and never to actually practise law. Data: from 2019:

Thomas Lewis from Chambers Associate takes a look at what law schools they attended, including breakdowns by elite school attendance, party line differences, and state representation.

Why does Kamala hate Pete? And how do you know that?
The articles explaining that he isn't popular because of "his positions" sound like thinly veiled bullshit. Actually they aren't even thinly veiled. They're poor excuses.
I'd like to see "his positions" compared to the "better positions." We're already being told support is waning for Joe Biden. Who are people going to support and vote for as an alternative?
I don't quite believe it at all, other than the deeply ingrained Baptist influence. And I'm a person that thinks Pete doesn't stand a chance in hell to be elected President. But it's not because of "his positions."

Pete manages a $140B department that affects every American every day they leave their home. Granted, that may not include Datalounge shut-ins. His leadership experience is more comprehensive than most other candidates.
That said, Michael Harriot pursued a vendetta against Pete in 2020 that deeply tarnished him with black voters. Since the white vote is the only demographic to go majority red, that’s a problem on top of whether Americans would vote for a gay man.

Buttigieg does nothing for the gay community. I will vote for Pete when he explains how he couldn't afford a den but months later bought an electric Mustang.

He’s becoming so funny looking.

Where are R6 and a few others getting that Pete majored in French? His Wiki says:
After graduating from St. Joseph High School, Buttigieg attended Harvard University, where he majored in history and literature.[25] He became president of the Student Advisory Committee of the Harvard Institute of Politics and worked on the institute's annual study of youth attitudes on politics.[26][27] He wrote his undergraduate thesis, titled The Quiet American's Errand into the Wilderness, on the influence of Puritanism on U.S. foreign policy as reflected in Graham Greene's novel The Quiet American.[28][29] He graduated magna cum laude from Harvard in 2004, and was elected a member of Phi Beta Kappa.
Buttigieg was awarded a Rhodes Scholarship to study at the University of Oxford.[30][32] In 2007, he received a Bachelor of Arts degree with first-class honours in philosophy, politics, and economics after studying at Pembroke College, Oxford.[33][34][35][36] At Oxford, he was an editor of the Oxford International Review,[37] and was a co-founder[37] and member of the Democratic Renaissance Project, an informal debate and discussion group of approximately a dozen Oxford students.[38][39]

R125, you need to see a professional. There’s help for people with problems like yours.

There's no help for people with problems like r125's.

^ Have they even identified what r125 has. I mean, can only the subject of a Wki page read their own Wiki page? I don't even get that
Buttigieg does nothing for the gay community.
The thing is that there are other issues, too. And nowadays there are hundreds of open LGBTQ members serving or running for public office so that there are enough to focus on issues they feel close to. Personally, I think he is doing a pretty outstanding job being the 'best public servant who happens to be gay'. Isn't that what we all want - be openly gay without it being a noteworthy thing? And it's not that he is hiding it or under-selling it. It's always Chasten here, my kids there.

Well done.

The only thing that Pete slays is Chasten’s hole once a month.

^ So, one more time than any of your body parts
Jealous, bitch?

He's morphing into Rowan Atkinson.

Wow! They’ve got both Boris and Svetlana working this thread.

Which the fuck politicians [italic]aren't[/italic] opportunists?

I suppose that means that a politician would have to be an egregious opportunist to stand out and be called that.

Yall gon let Tim Walz be great. He probably never imagined he would become Vice President one day. He was always a lowkey politician until he became a unicorn. Midwestern, folksy dude who is a center left democrat.
