Pete Buttigieg SLAYS JD Vance

Hello, 911, I'd like to report a murder

by Anonymousreply 138August 10, 2024 5:02 AM

He’s not wrong.

by Anonymousreply 1July 20, 2024 6:40 AM

This morning's fantasy is PB debating Trump - and with all that grace, wit, charm and speed, leaving him a babbling useless wreck with no means of recovery. It's obviously awful to contrast PB's high talent and youth with the serious problem at the top.

by Anonymousreply 2July 20, 2024 6:42 AM

Dump would just bloviate and lie - same thing he always does. Same thing he did to Biden. And the idiot “moderators” would just nod and move on.

by Anonymousreply 3July 20, 2024 6:46 AM

r2 Trump doesn't give a shit who's on the other debate podium, he does his signature Gish gallop of bullshit and that's that. And it fucking works, too.

[bold] Pete won't go to a GAY PRIDE PARADE but he WILL go on Bill Mahers show. [/bold] If VANCE wins Pete is out of a job. He could have insulted Vance a week ago. A month ago. But he didn't. This is a pandering Hillbilly attacking another Hillbilly. Also---->> Vance studied law while Pete was learning French in college. Not exactly intellectual equals. Buttigieg has never done anything for the gay community.

Pete should be the first person of the millennial generation to be a VP nominee. Not Vance.

by Anonymousreply 7July 20, 2024 7:26 AM

Desperate for the VEEP job. Tell us again how someone who couldn't afford a den "magically" affords a Mustang months later?

by Anonymousreply 8July 20, 2024 7:27 AM

R8, at least Pete isn't Peter Thiel's little bottom bitch, kept on a short leash.

by Anonymousreply 9July 20, 2024 7:30 AM

I would love to see Pete gut JD Vance like a little fish.

by Anonymousreply 10July 20, 2024 10:22 AM

Anyone who can keep Bill Maher from talking for 2 minutes is presidential material 👍

by Anonymousreply 11July 20, 2024 10:47 AM

Bill tried to interrupt Pete when he brought up that Vance compared Trump to Hitler in the past, but Pete effortlessly cut Bill off and kept on going. Amazing.

by Anonymousreply 12July 20, 2024 11:02 AM

^ Yep, Pete doesn't even have to raise his voice to talk over someone he just continues on with what he has to say

by Anonymousreply 13July 20, 2024 11:09 AM

Give Pete the '28 VP slot!

by Anonymousreply 14July 20, 2024 11:11 AM

The guy is the antidote we need and will probably never get. The most cogent political speaker of the moment.

by Anonymousreply 15July 20, 2024 11:44 AM

R15, but we can't run him because he's "gay."

For the next go-around, I'd rather take the chance of failing with someone intelligent, young, and inspiring, than maintain the same 'ol same 'ol.

by Anonymousreply 16July 20, 2024 11:49 AM

R14, PB would be sadly wasted in the VP role. He needs to run for prez. He's brilliant.

by Anonymousreply 17July 20, 2024 11:49 AM

R6, I'm scratching my head over your law vs. French comparison. As someone who has studied both, I can tell you they are about equally challenging, if in different ways. And neither law nor French is anywhere as challenging as, say, a STEM field.

Comparing JDV's and PB's intellects is unproductive, anyway, as they are entirely different on so many other levels as to be different species.

by Anonymousreply 18July 20, 2024 12:02 PM

^ I would say that JD Vance and Pete's intelligence were on equal levels, but where Pete uses his for the good of the country, Vance's is used to be a sleazy opportunist making his intellect far more dangerous

by Anonymousreply 19July 20, 2024 12:43 PM

The best part of OP's clip is that Bill Maher got in maybe two words.

by Anonymousreply 20July 20, 2024 1:56 PM

And they were two too many.

by Anonymousreply 21July 20, 2024 1:59 PM

Pete can be a fearless honey badger, unafraid to go on FOX News and take Republican bitches down on their own turf.

by Anonymousreply 22July 20, 2024 2:03 PM

Pete really needs to be President one day. He's not perfect but seems to have all the right characteristics needed for the role of President.

by Anonymousreply 23July 20, 2024 2:10 PM

There is no such thing as a perfect candidate. To err is human. I don't understand why so many miserable fucks are insistent on nitpicking and tearing down every viable Democrat. They are all light years better and more qualified than Shitler.

by Anonymousreply 24July 20, 2024 2:15 PM

R24, true. I remember the naysayers here on DL claiming how 'unelectable' Obama was circa '07, '08.

by Anonymousreply 25July 20, 2024 2:17 PM

you've got to be kidding 🤣

by Anonymousreply 26July 20, 2024 2:17 PM

Bravo, Pete!

by Anonymousreply 27July 20, 2024 2:17 PM

@r22, "Pete can be a fearless honey badger, unafraid to go on FOX News and take Republican bitches down on their own turf. "

I'm sure to Pete it's like shooting fish in a barrel. Pete has the ability to reduce Republican hysteria to simple, logical soundbites. Vance is supported by evil billionaires, therefore Vance is a puppet of evil billionaires

Simple

by Anonymousreply 28July 20, 2024 2:23 PM

Once we crack the MAGAts wide open with Kamala, we can run Pete and he can win.

But first, the talibangelical bigots need to have their little minds blown by having a black woman President. (She has a better chance rn as it stands).

by Anonymousreply 29July 20, 2024 7:20 PM

Pete can't get elected Senator. ANYWHERE. He has no political future in any office after Biden leaves. Kamala isn't going to keep him in her Administration. She can't stand him.. He isn't going to be then next Governor of Michigan either. He can jibber jabber all he wants but as long as black voters go to the polls, he loses.

Why does Pete have to be monogamous when Trump is a child rapist and has affairs with porn stars?

by Anonymousreply 37July 21, 2024 1:32 AM

I believe that Pete could win the presidency. I think he's so brilliant and such a likable and decent guy that he could overcome the prejudices of enough voters to win. Obama was able to do that for the same reasons and become the first black president. Pete is our Obama.

by Anonymousreply 38July 21, 2024 1:47 AM

Obama was smart and likeable. Pete is snobby and insufferable. Also black people liked Obama.

by Anonymousreply 39July 21, 2024 2:07 AM

Not just black people liked Obama. JFC.

by Anonymousreply 40July 21, 2024 2:13 AM
The best part of OP's clip is that Bill Maher got in maybe two words.

It looked to me that it was because Bill must really like him. I think if it had been another Democrat, Bill would have pushed back on the suggestion that Republicans cater to the rich and Democrats don't. Also, I think Bill would have laughed at Pete saying that JD Vance said whatever he needed to say to get ahead, pointing out that Pete does that too.

by Anonymousreply 41July 21, 2024 2:22 AM
Pete can't get elected Senator. ANYWHERE. He has no political future in any office after Biden leaves.

If he wants to get ahead, he's going to have to run for something. Being elected only as the mayor of South Bend + his bad record at DOT is not going to be enough. If he runs and wins, he has a future. If he runs and loses, he falls back into Beto territory.

by Anonymousreply 42July 21, 2024 2:24 AM

When the Hooterville constituents call someone a liar to their face and his microphone backpack makes him look even stupider. I don't like Pete because he is fake. He left South Bend the first chance he got. He has done a mediocre job as Secretary of Transportation. He does nothing for the gay community but the occasional text.

And about 4 months after that we elected the first black President.

by Anonymousreply 50July 21, 2024 2:38 AM

by Anonymousreply 51July 21, 2024 2:45 AM

ALL politicians say what they need to get ahead. ALL politicians are corrupt and look out for themselves and other rich people. The difference is that the democrats are the most disingenuous about this. They pretend they are the honest, ethical ones who give a shit about the middle class, meanwhile they are liars and grifters who don't give a fuck about the people.

I saw an opinion piece today from Rep. Seth Moulton that denigrated Vance's marine corps service for being just a "combat correspondent". However, I see that he kind of did the same to Buttigieg in 2019 for Pete being just a financial analyst in Afghanistan. I guess Moulton is just a prick.

by Anonymousreply 71July 21, 2024 3:49 AM

You know that Pete is not in Congress and hasn't been part of any legislative body, don't you? Also, since JD Vance was only elected in 2022, he's never been in the majority, so any legislation he has ever "passed" would have had to have Democratic support.

R6 Are you serious? I'm not a fan of BG at all but studying law isn't a sign of intelligence per se. You have to be a bookworm and enjoy memorizing stuff, ideally. It also seems that disproportionately many aspiring politicians choose the profession, and if it's only to get a degree in, and never to actually practise law. Data: from 2019:
Forty percent of the current Congress attended law school—54 percent of senators and 37 percent of House members have a law degree. Thomas Lewis from Chambers Associate takes a look at what law schools they attended, including breakdowns by elite school attendance, party line differences, and state representation.

It's not that studying law gives you some great insight into the real world that enables you to be a good representative. You are not seriously believing that, right?

R34

Why does Kamala hate Pete? And how do you know that?

The articles explaining that he isn't popular because of "his positions" sound like thinly veiled bullshit. Actually they aren't even thinly veiled. They're poor excuses.

I'd like to see "his positions" compared to the "better positions." We're already being told support is waning for Joe Biden. Who are people going to support and vote for as an alternative?

I don't quite believe it at all, other than the deeply ingrained Baptist influence. And I'm a person that thinks Pete doesn't stand a chance in hell to be elected President. But it's not because of "his positions."

by Anonymousreply 94July 21, 2024 12:55 PM

R94 on paper Pete is actually the most pro black candidate. Check the propositions he wants to implement. But some low vibrational black men are going Maga because of gay stuff. America is so fkin lame.

by Anonymousreply 95July 21, 2024 12:59 PM

Pete manages a $140B department that affects every American every day they leave their home. Granted, that may not include Datalounge shut-ins. His leadership experience is more comprehensive than most other candidates.

That said, Michael Harriot pursued a vendetta against Pete in 2020 that deeply tarnished him with black voters. Since the white vote is the only demographic to go majority red, that’s a problem on top of whether Americans would vote for a gay man.

Kamala appeared with Pete yesterday in Provincetown for a fundraiser estimated to bring in $1M and ended up surpassing $2M.

Of course, Pete was there to appeal to the Provincetown crowd.

Is there anybody else in the Biden sphere that is gay and could have appealed to the same demographic? I'm still trying to get my head around why it's reported - if, in fact, it is the case - why Kamala wouldn't "like" one of the smartest and most erudite defenders of her administration?

Pete and Vance are alike in the sense they are both political opportunists. Neither one is putting VOTERS first. And I never bought into the dutiful husband shtick with Pete. Yeah, I wonder too why PB is such a hot button issue for trolls.

Buttigieg does nothing for the gay community. I will vote for Pete when he explains how he couldn't afford a den but months later bought an electric Mustang.

He’s becoming so funny looking.

Where are R6 and a few others getting that Pete majored in French? His Wiki says:
After graduating from St. Joseph High School, Buttigieg attended Harvard University, where he majored in history and literature.[25] He became president of the Student Advisory Committee of the Harvard Institute of Politics and worked on the institute's annual study of youth attitudes on politics.[26][27] He wrote his undergraduate thesis, titled The Quiet American's Errand into the Wilderness, on the influence of Puritanism on U.S. foreign policy as reflected in Graham Greene's novel The Quiet American.[28][29] He graduated magna cum laude from Harvard in 2004, and was elected a member of Phi Beta Kappa.
Buttigieg was awarded a Rhodes Scholarship to study at the University of Oxford.[30][32] In 2007, he received a Bachelor of Arts degree with first-class honours in philosophy, politics, and economics after studying at Pembroke College, Oxford.[33][34][35][36] At Oxford, he was an editor of the Oxford International Review,[37] and was a co-founder[37] and member of the Democratic Renaissance Project, an informal debate and discussion group of approximately a dozen Oxford students.[38][39]

R125, you need to see a professional. There’s help for people with problems like yours.

by Anonymousreply 126July 23, 2024 2:21 AM

I was in labor for 36 hours with those brats!
R125, you need to see a professional. There’s help for people with problems like yours.

There's no help for people with problems like r125's.

by Anonymousreply 128July 23, 2024 11:26 AM

^ Have they even identified what r125 has. I mean, can only the subject of a Wki page read their own Wiki page? I don't even get that
Buttigieg does nothing for the gay community.

The thing is that there are other issues, too. And nowadays there are hundreds of open LGBTQ members serving or running for public office so that there are enough to focus on issues they feel close to. Personally, I think he is doing a pretty outstanding job being the 'best public servant who happens to be gay'. Isn't that what we all want - be openly gay without it being a noteworthy thing? And it's not that he is hiding it or under-selling it. It's always Chasten here, my kids there.

Well done.

by Anonymousreply 131July 23, 2024 3:36 PM

The only thing that Pete slays is Chasten’s hole once a month.

by Anonymousreply 132July 23, 2024 3:38 PM

^ So, one more time than any of your body parts

Jealous, bitch?

by Anonymousreply 133July 23, 2024 4:31 PM

He's morphing into Rowan Atkinson.

by Anonymousreply 134July 24, 2024 4:33 AM

Wow! They’ve got both Boris and Svetlana working this thread.
Pete and Vance are alike in the sense they are both political opportunists.

Which the fuck politicians [italic]aren't[/italic] opportunists?

by Anonymousreply 136July 25, 2024 3:08 AM
Which the fuck politicians aren't opportunists?

I suppose that means that a politician would have to be an egregious opportunist to stand out and be called that.

by Anonymousreply 137July 25, 2024 3:38 AM

Yall gon let Tim Walz be great. He probably never imagined he would become Vice President one day. He was always a lowkey politician until he became a unicorn. Midwestern, folksy dude who is a center left democrat.
