This year's Emmy "in memoriam" is going to be half an hour if they keep up this pace.

Well r4, the guy who wrote [italic]Generation Kill[/italic] killed himself, though I suppose that would be the Emmys, not the Oscars.

by Anonymousreply 6July 15, 2024 5:09 AM

r3, he was very good in that

by Anonymousreply 7July 15, 2024 7:08 AM

R1, indeed I’ll always first think of him as Captain Styles when he had to take the Excelsior out of space dock early in order to try chasing after Kirk who was stealing the Enterprise. The suspense of it all was permanently seared into my 6 or 7 year old brain. And the Excelsior - what a beautiful ship she was!

It seemed like he appeared in an episode of almost every prime time show on the air back in the 70s.

Recall a speech his character made as the father to a son coming out . "They say Alexander the Great was homosexual. If it was ok for him it's ok for you". One of those smarmy 80's made for TV movies but as gayling in Podunk that line meant a lot to me

I always thought he was cute in a DILFy sort of way.

by Anonymousreply 11July 15, 2024 6:00 PM

R11, me too

by Anonymousreply 12July 15, 2024 8:36 PM

He played Calvin's business partner in Ordinary People. Coincidence that he died just after Sutherland did.

by Anonymousreply 13July 16, 2024 1:30 AM

And OP is suffering from improper capitalization. Sad!
