“American Pie” is officially 25 years old and Gen Z hates it!

Gen Z has discovered American Pie on Netflix and they find it incredibly problematic.

However, many Millennials and Gen X love the raunchy teen comedy. Gen Xers found it funny and reminiscent of raunchy teen comedies from their youth and situations they were in and Millenials grew up watching it (even if too young to watch it). Gen Z hates everything.

The movie that made my gayling self wonder if humping twink ass felt like warm apple pie.

by Anonymousreply 1July 13, 2024 10:12 PM

They said the warm pie felt similar to a vagina, not an anus.

by Anonymousreply 2July 13, 2024 10:14 PM

It’s not problematic ,it is just plain awful.

by Anonymousreply 3July 13, 2024 10:25 PM

I was born in 1991 and I've always thought it was fucking stupid.

by Anonymousreply 4July 13, 2024 10:32 PM

People don't know how to have fun anymore. It's meant to be a very silly movie. The audience for this was kids that grew up reading Mad Magazine and collecting Garbage Pail Kids cards.

by Anonymousreply 5July 13, 2024 10:40 PM

The guy who wrote American Pie grew up in the Grand Rapids metro area in Michigan in the 80s. Teenage promiscuity, drug use, and teen drinking were pretty rampant in those areas in the 80s and 90s.

by Anonymousreply 6July 13, 2024 10:46 PM

R6 in those areas? All over the country.

by Anonymousreply 7July 13, 2024 10:49 PM

Eugene Levy was always the best part of those movies.

by Anonymousreply 8July 13, 2024 10:49 PM

I saw some video on YouTube of a Gen Zer watching Cruel Intentions and bitching about it.

by Anonymousreply 9July 13, 2024 10:52 PM

Excuse you, R2! So what does the equivalent version of twink ass feel like?

by Anonymousreply 10July 13, 2024 10:54 PM

It was made exactly for my age cohort and I always thought it was puerile and stupid.

by Anonymousreply 11July 13, 2024 10:54 PM

I snuck into this movie with my friends because we were only 16.

It’s fine. Racy, I guess, for 1999.

Gen Z needs to realize that 25 years means 25 FUCKING YEARS AGO.

by Anonymousreply 12July 13, 2024 10:58 PM

R12 racy for 2024 also, clearly, as Gen Z can’t handle it.

It’s a film about teenagers wanting to fuck and see boobs. That’s racy in any generation.

by Anonymousreply 13July 13, 2024 11:05 PM

If they think this is “sexist, misogynistic, chauvinistic, racist” etc. wait until they discover Porky’s from 17 years earlier than AP.

by Anonymousreply 14July 13, 2024 11:06 PM

The whole raunchy teen genre was dead by the 90s. This movie revived it on the cusp of the new Millennium. It lasted another few years before dying again.

The raunchy teen films of the 70s and 80s were far worse than American Pie.

by Anonymousreply 15July 13, 2024 11:07 PM

The ones whining are chubby pandemic girls.

Blame your parents for not keeping fruits and veggies in the house in 2020.

by Anonymousreply 16July 13, 2024 11:08 PM

R11, of course it was puerile and stupid -- it was aimed at hormonal teenage boys!

by Anonymousreply 17July 13, 2024 11:13 PM

R17 yup.

And I doubt an 8 year old would watch it and say it’s stupid. They shouldn’t even be watching it.

by Anonymousreply 18July 13, 2024 11:17 PM

It gave us another opportunity to see Tara Reid in her prime. And it was good wank material for a tween with all the Jason Biggs pie fuckkng/masturbation scenes and Seann William Scott being hot. It was fun.

by Anonymousreply 19July 13, 2024 11:27 PM

R19 thinks the film was aimed at gays? wtf lmaooooo

by Anonymousreply 20July 13, 2024 11:30 PM

I could never get hard to Sean William’s derp face.

Some of Jason Biggs’ friends were cute.

by Anonymousreply 21July 13, 2024 11:31 PM

I'm a late Gen X/early Millennial and I absolutely HATED these obnoxiously juvenile, trite, boring and vulgar films about a bunch of stupid kids being dumb fucks.

If Gen Z hate this pile of shit for retards, then all I can say is that they have some very redeemable qualities.

by Anonymousreply 22July 13, 2024 11:33 PM

Whoa, “r” word…

Guessing you’re not millennial or gen z…

by Anonymousreply 23July 13, 2024 11:38 PM

R2 The body is at a constant temperature so chances are that any hole inside the body would be the same.

by Anonymousreply 24July 13, 2024 11:39 PM

This one time, at band camp…

by Anonymousreply 25July 13, 2024 11:45 PM

[quote] If Gen Z hate this pile of shit for retards, then all I can say is that they have some very redeemable qualities.

Oh, please. Have you seen the TikToks these obnoxious little brats obsess over?

They're not hating this (or any movie) because they're tremendous taste makers. They dislike it because they can't watch anything that requires a >3 minute attention span!

by Anonymousreply 26July 13, 2024 11:46 PM

R22 sure you are.

by Anonymousreply 27July 13, 2024 11:49 PM

This is not true.

90’s / early 2000s trashy movies are the only thing a lot of Gen Z’ers can pay attention to without going back to their phones.

Scary Movie, White Chicks, American Pie, etc.

I recommended “Norbit” to a Gen Z girl I work with and her and her boyfriend have been quoting it ever since.

The “queer” / liberal left who Gen Z doesn’t like are the ones who take issue with this just like they take issue with everything else.

by Anonymousreply 28July 13, 2024 11:49 PM

My friends and I couldn’t get into American Pie because we were too young, but somehow got into American Psycho a few months later with no hassle at all.

by Anonymousreply 29July 13, 2024 11:49 PM

Did anyone catch the first season of Orange Is The New Black a few years ago where Jason Biggs reprised the role of “guy experimenting with unorthodox masturbation methods?” It was when his fiance/girlfriend got sent to the slammer and he had to cope all alone.

by Anonymousreply 30July 13, 2024 11:51 PM

R28 Norbit? Scary Movie? White Chicks? None of those are raunchy sex teen comedies. Scary Movie mocked sex in horror films briefly but they aren’t raunchy teen comedies. The fact you even commented this shows you’re slow as fuck.

American Pie is in the same category as Porkys, not White Chicks.

My IQ lowers with each post you make it on here.

by Anonymousreply 31July 13, 2024 11:55 PM

R20 I only said that I, who happened to be a gay tween at the time, enjoyed the movie and thought it was fun. I never cared who it was aimed at.

by Anonymousreply 32July 13, 2024 11:56 PM

I liked Superbad better, but American Pie was also funny. Gen Z likes Taylor Swift, so what do they know?

by Anonymousreply 33July 14, 2024 12:39 AM

Truth, r33.

Gen Z only showers and goes out to see Taylor because it’s good for their mental health, OK? That’s why mom and dad paid $850 for their ticket, OK?

by Anonymousreply 34July 14, 2024 12:48 AM

Superbad came out almost a decade later.

by Anonymousreply 35July 14, 2024 12:50 AM

The only issue that I can get Gen Zers being mad about is Shannon Elizabeth's character being unaware about the webcam in that bedroom scene.

by Anonymousreply 36July 14, 2024 1:08 AM

R36 have you watched the film? Listen to the dialogue.

by Anonymousreply 37July 14, 2024 1:08 AM

I wonder if Gen Z will try to get Jennifer Coolidge cancelled for American Pie.

by Anonymousreply 38July 14, 2024 1:15 AM

That’s another thing, the mom fucking a minor. Of course Gen Z hates it. They’re obsessed with age gaps. It’s weird.

by Anonymousreply 39July 14, 2024 1:22 AM

Gen Z also thinks you’re still a “child” until you’re 25 years old.

by Anonymousreply 40July 14, 2024 1:22 AM

I thought American Pie was hilarious when it came out, but it has aged badly.

by Anonymousreply 41July 14, 2024 1:28 AM

It’s a product of its time.

by Anonymousreply 42July 14, 2024 1:32 AM

It gave us the word "MILF."

by Anonymousreply 43July 14, 2024 2:17 AM

R40, correction: Gen Z wants to be treated like little children until they're 30 for things like responsibility, relationships, and accountability.

But on the other hand, they demand to be treated like adults when it comes to wages and home ownership. Like they actually think they should be earning 6 figure salaries.

by Anonymousreply 44July 14, 2024 3:24 AM

R31 God you’re stuck up and stupid.

All of those movies have the same exact problematic issues “American Pie” has as far as politically correct nature.

I don’t know how you can talk about stupidity if you can’t make the connections.

It makes no sense - so movies from that time that had comedy involving misogyny, racism, homophobia, fatphobia, stereotypes aren’t what put Gen Z off to “American Pie”?

Like shut the fuck up.

by Anonymousreply 45July 14, 2024 4:26 AM

Why are we pretending that the only reason someone would dislike American Pie is if they're a sexless prude? It's a stupid fucking movie. If you consider American Pie to be the gold standard for humor then you should probably do everyone a favor and kill yourself.

by Anonymousreply 46July 14, 2024 4:39 AM

[quote]The audience for this was kids that grew up reading Mad Magazine and collecting Garbage Pail Kids cards.

I grew up with thos things and still think this movie and its sequels are stupid. I've never made it all the way through any of them.

by Anonymousreply 47July 14, 2024 4:45 AM

[quote]Guessing you’re not millennial or gen z…

You don't have to guess, they told you in the first sentence that they're "a late Gen X/early Millennial."

by Anonymousreply 48July 14, 2024 4:51 AM

The only thing I could "complain" about American Pie is that Seann William Scott still hasn't come out yet.

by Anonymousreply 49July 14, 2024 4:57 AM

[quote]Gen Z has discovered American Pie on Netflix and they find it incredibly problematic.

It's mainly 'woke' liberals/feminists who find it problematic, as usual.

The ;wokes' are humorless and don't understand satire and despise anything that sexualizes women.

by Anonymousreply 50July 14, 2024 4:58 AM

The "wokes" are the reason you can get married to another man, r50. Nothing more pathetic than a socially conservative gay man.

by Anonymousreply 51July 14, 2024 5:01 AM

[quote] The "wokes" are the reason you can get married to another man

No, they aren’t.

by Anonymousreply 52July 14, 2024 5:32 AM

[quote] The “queer” / liberal left who Gen Z doesn’t like

They ARE Gen Z.

by Anonymousreply 53July 14, 2024 5:33 AM

R46 What’s your favorite comedy? The Taming of the Shrew?

I’d say I bet you’re fun at parties but I know you don’t get invited.

by Anonymousreply 54July 14, 2024 12:34 PM

That was part of why it was funny. Comedy isn't to be taken that seriously. Gen Z? More like Gen Zzz

by Anonymousreply 55July 14, 2024 12:48 PM

It was hardest for her.

by Anonymousreply 56July 14, 2024 1:08 PM

I've never seen this? Not interested. Not Gen Z. Old.

by Anonymousreply 57July 14, 2024 1:19 PM

I don't hate the movie but finding out Alyson Hannifan was a monstrous cunt did hurt its rewatch potential.

by Anonymousreply 58July 14, 2024 1:47 PM

Sorry, Hannigan.

by Anonymousreply 59July 14, 2024 1:48 PM

R56 Makes sense. Dan Levy also thinks everything is about him.

by Anonymousreply 60July 14, 2024 2:12 PM

I despise Jason Biggs and he's why I won't rewatch the movie or its sequels.

by Anonymousreply 61July 14, 2024 2:37 PM

They stayed close

by Anonymousreply 62July 14, 2024 2:43 PM

R58 What did Allison Hannigan do that made her a cunt? I must've missed that.

by Anonymousreply 63July 14, 2024 3:28 PM

R63 Hannigan was a cunt to the actress who played Tara on Buffy the Vampire Slayer. I also recall when Entertainment Weekly did one of those reunion photo shoots, Seth Green seemed to be annoyed to be near Hannigan into a BTS video of the photo shoot.

by Anonymousreply 64July 14, 2024 3:36 PM

What's so funny is that Hannigan so badly mistreated both Amber Benson, as well as the other actress that played her girlfriend in the final season all because she wanted Wheden to put Willow and Oz together, the only problem was by that point even Green thought she was a thundering bitch and everyone knew Wheden was a creep and wanted nothing to do with either of them.

by Anonymousreply 65July 14, 2024 4:16 PM

Some BTVS, How I Met Your Mother, American Pie fans bought into Hannigan's "nice redhead girl persona" and were surprised when dirt came out about what cunt she was. I can't recall exactly when, but Hannigan claimed that Julie Benz was awful to her on the BTVS set. Hannigan reminds me of Jennie Garth. Garth for years bitched up and down about Shannen Doherty mistreating people on the Beverly Hills 90210 set. Then it was later revealed that after Doherty left 90210, Garth was awful to new female cast members who would join the show. Garth and Hannigan tried to milk sympathy, but they themselves were hypocrites.

I got a chuckle several years ago when CDAN ran one of those bullshit kindness blinds about a "mostly TV actress who was donating money to a domestic violence shelter that housed women and their children" The blind claimed that the actress was specifically donating money for holiday parties at the shelter. A few people were guessing Hannigan, but then others were posting things along the lines of "Hannigan is cunt or a diva"

by Anonymousreply 66July 15, 2024 4:30 AM

I hated this movie and found it gross. I'm a millennial. I never got into the "horndog teen boy adventures" flicks. Had enough of putting up with that bs in real life, why would I use it as entertainment?

by Anonymousreply 67July 15, 2024 4:51 AM

I preferred American Bundt Cake

by Anonymousreply 68July 15, 2024 5:22 AM

I'm Gen X and have never seen it, though I remember hearing so much about it. I had no objection, I just missed it fro some reason. Is it worth a watch?

by Anonymousreply 69July 15, 2024 5:24 AM

[quote] Is it worth a watch?

r69 In my opinion, no, it's not.

by Anonymousreply 70July 15, 2024 5:26 AM

Gen X and I hate every frame of this stupid movie. It is so dumb and bland I find it mystifying that it became a franchise. It’s that terrible.

Superbad, on the other hand, is fantastic and has a heart. American Pie has a sexually violated apple pie where its heart should be.

by Anonymousreply 71July 15, 2024 6:03 AM

Some of the direct to video sequels are way raunchier and edgier than the original. American Pie Beta House for example:

They used fake semen in that scene. You can tell by how it looks.

by Anonymousreply 73July 15, 2024 7:07 AM

Very lame movie. Too mainstream to work in the way a lowbrow masterpiece like Freddy Got Fingered does. The kids are mad for stupid reasons though.

by Anonymousreply 74July 15, 2024 7:09 AM

r73, yes it was fake semen. It's pretty rare to see real cum in anything mainstream.

by Anonymousreply 75July 15, 2024 7:18 AM

I can only hope Gen Z viewers watch it in their safe space and get help with their trauma/PTSD. Really the only way the puritanical generation can feel good about themselves is to get offended by things from totally different eras. God forbid they actually go out into the world and do something to make it a better place. Why do that when you can try to look smart and edgy on TikTok?

by Anonymousreply 76July 15, 2024 7:58 AM

Gen Z is also the generation terrified of answering the very phone that is glued to their hand. Maybe it's time to not care what these little shits want.

by Anonymousreply 77July 15, 2024 10:01 AM

*wonders what Gen Z would think about "There's Something About Mary".

by Anonymousreply 78July 15, 2024 10:27 AM

[quote] yes it was fake semen. It's pretty rare to see real cum in anything mainstream.

I think a bigger budget movie would be able to afford real semen.

It makes you wonder if Hannigan is a major bitch because she thinks she's a great actress and underappreciated, or if she knows she'll always be the one-note sweet girl, and that just drives her nuts.
