Lucie Arnaz interview with an Australian dude

I thought I saw this before but it was posted (re-posted?) two days ago.

I like her. She's a good talker, and she's interesting. Notice the Emmy in the background.

There's actually another good interview--I'll try to find it.

R1 How'm I doin'?!

by Anonymousreply 4July 10, 2024 2:43 PM

Lucie, to me, is looking better with age. In her 20's and 30's she looked like a low rent Mamie Eisenhower. I think the desert has done wonders for her.

by Anonymousreply 5July 10, 2024 3:36 PM

The Australian guy interview was GREAT! On to the others.

Had a chance to see her show in a small venue and managed to miss it. Big regret. She's really terrific.

(Larry doesn't look great, but he is pretty old. Heard he's not well. Hope he's doing better.)

by Anonymousreply 6July 10, 2024 4:44 PM

I'm not eldergay enough. I have no idea what she is famous for besides being celebrity offspring. Can we have a new category like Young Eldergay?

Laurence Luckinbill is about to turn ninety!

by Anonymousreply 9July 10, 2024 11:12 PM

I love Lucie Arnaz. She is most talented. She should have been a bigger star, but she opted to be Mommy when her star was rising.

by Anonymousreply 10July 11, 2024 1:27 AM

Lucie always gives a good interview. She’s got lots of stories and is very charming.

by Anonymousreply 11July 11, 2024 2:09 AM

I moved to Palm Springs a few years back and was directed to contact Lucie about possible volunteer opportunities in the community. She was simply the nicest person, answered right away, and gave great advice. I Love Lucie!!!!

by Anonymousreply 12July 11, 2024 4:43 AM

Guys I knew had crushes on her when I was a teen. She seemed like a gawky horse, with an annoying voice, on Here's Lucy, while Desi Jr. seemed like a natural -- but time proved me wrong and pretty soon she was getting great reviews for They're Playing Our Song, and The Jazz Singer. She looks great, now. I don't think she had the enormous drive of her mom, nor did her brother. It's interesting how they both went for show biz people to have relationships with (seems like many children of stars don't). Love her in interviews.

by Anonymousreply 13July 11, 2024 3:29 PM

There's actually another really long interview with her that I liked, but couldn't find when I was posting them. Maybe somebody else can find it.

I enjoy good interviews with people in movies-TV-theatre, current or former. I don't always sit riveted to them but will watch them while I'm eating, cleaning, cooking, or whatever.

by Anonymousreply 14July 11, 2024 3:31 PM

She's wonderful, but I find her lower teeth very distracting. Surely she has enough $$ to get them fixed.

by Anonymousreply 15July 11, 2024 4:28 PM

R15 Why should she care, at her age? Is she going to be going to the singles clubs?

by Anonymousreply 16July 11, 2024 4:31 PM

Any fellow Lucie fans in the So Cal/Palm Springs area? I'd love to see her at the Purple Room in the fall and make a new friend in the process.

by Anonymousreply 17July 11, 2024 11:26 PM

If I was famously snubbed for a Tony nomination, I would make sure ANY award would be in my interview background!

by Anonymousreply 18July 11, 2024 11:31 PM

I think she got the Emmy for her (and Desi's) Lucy-Desi Sr. documentary.

by Anonymousreply 19July 12, 2024 6:25 PM

R19 and others... I wish she had won an Emmy for her guest appearance on an episode of law & Order (the Arthur Branch years).

She looked incredible, the costume designer knew how to dress her/the character to the nines, and she was completely committed to the role.

And yea, the character was guilty! guilty! guilty!

I saw her in a one-woman show decades ago... she could definitely command a stage in front a band.

by Anonymousreply 20July 12, 2024 7:07 PM

R20...she was perfection as Jackie Scott. I quote her all the time..."Pick a lane...and don't let any son of a bitch cut you off"

by Anonymousreply 21July 13, 2024 6:01 AM

This is the archive of the questions she used to answer on her website. A feature that was discontinued years ago.

She was very gracious and often gave lengthy, truly kind answers. Overall much friendlier than Patti LuPone’s version of the same thing.

Lucie on CBS Sunday Morning today. I always get a lump in my throat whenever I hear her talk about her parents' end of life abiding love.

As princess of Desilu, she should have been hired as counselor Troi on “Star Trek:the Next Generation”.

by Anonymousreply 24June 16, 2025 2:01 AM

What a cunt.

by Anonymousreply 25June 16, 2025 2:48 AM

Lucie Arnaz has done quite a job of being a spokesperson for Lucy and Desi.

And as one of the early "nepo-babies" (a vastly overused term), she's got a nice resume of acting credits and seems to have managed a successful personal life.

Bravo Lucie. is it true that her brother has been living with dementia for years? Like Joey Luft, he's a non-entity when interviews like Rocco's are conducted.

by Anonymousreply 26June 16, 2025 10:36 AM

In actuality, and probably to the disappointment of many DLers, Robin Strasser, Larry, and Lucie all get along. Larry and Robin were divorced for three years before he started dating Lucie.

The Strasser troll comes up every time Lucie is discussed. Maybe it's a DL tradition.

by Anonymousreply 27June 16, 2025 12:18 PM

Naaah it's just me r27, playing on Strasser's career of playing legendary bitches. I love the old broad, batshit as she is.

by Anonymousreply 34June 16, 2025 8:40 PM

Lucie is a great interviewee because she's lucid and knows what she's talking about. She directly answers questions, doesn't dodge them. Empathetic concerning her parents but not wide-eyed and innocent of all the things that went on.

by Anonymousreply 35June 16, 2025 8:50 PM

According to Todd Purdum, Desi's biographer, Arnaz is properly pronounced Ar-NAAS.

by Anonymousreply 36June 19, 2025 10:52 PM

Larry and Robin starred on Broadway in Chapter Two playing a recent widower and recent divorcee who meet then marry very quickly. They were wonderful together and I thought they were still married when I saw it but, later, discovered they were already divorced.

by Anonymousreply 37June 19, 2025 11:02 PM

When was that r37?

by Anonymousreply 38June 19, 2025 11:06 PM

by Anonymousreply 42June 19, 2025 11:20 PM

Thanks.

I seem to remember reports of Robin saying complimentary things about Lucie on her infamous hotline.

For what it's worth, there was an old DL claiming Luckinbill had said Robin was so frustrated at not working (at his insistence) that she'd cook all the groceries at once so that every meal he ate would be leftovers. I didn't believe it but it was fun to imagine.

by Anonymousreply 43June 19, 2025 11:20 PM

That's a Lily Tomlin line, r43. I think it's on her Modern Scream album.

by Anonymousreply 44June 19, 2025 11:22 PM

I remember reading a DL post that said Robin was the first person to show up for Lucie when Lucy Sr died. She took care of all of the kids and was even invited to Lucy's funeral.

by Anonymousreply 45June 19, 2025 11:41 PM

That's hilarious r44. I think I've even listened to it but don't remember that part. Is it the one with Susie Sorority and something about "Buffy Woodstock or Buffy Altamont or whoever she is"?

by Anonymousreply 46June 19, 2025 11:42 PM

She may have an Emmy, but she doesn’t have the Tony nomination!

by Anonymousreply 47June 19, 2025 11:43 PM

She had a pretty decent career until around 35 when, a few TV guest spots aside, it all dried up.

I have always liked that when she talks about her parents (especially Lucy) it is not all gushing praise.

by Anonymousreply 48June 19, 2025 11:46 PM

She’s aged well. I like too her honesty about her parents.

by Anonymousreply 49June 20, 2025 12:14 AM

About 25 years ago, I interviewed Lucie about a production of “Wonderful Town” she was hoping to take to Broadway. I was with a second-rate newspaper in Glendale, CA (where the show had a couple of performances). Even so, we talked for about an hour, focused mostly on the show and her stage career. She couldn’t have been more gracious and open, and I like to think it was a good interview. At the end, I said something to the effect of “My readers would think me remiss if I didn’t include something about your parents.” I asked her about any words of advice or encouragement they gave her, rather than the obvious stuff. She thanked me for not going down the path most reporters did, and although I don’t remember the answer, I was grateful she appreciated the question.

I met her backstage two days later, and she was warm and welcoming. And she was stunning! Tall, striking and gorgeous. She was kind to my best friend, who has been a “Lucy” fan since childhood. A classy, intelligent dame all the way!

by Anonymousreply 50June 20, 2025 4:18 AM

Lucie gave a great performance as a replacement in Lost in Yonkers.

by Anonymousreply 51June 20, 2025 4:33 AM

Hmm. On her Instagram she has a picture and lovely words about Seth Rudetsky.

Why, Lucie? Why?

by Anonymousreply 52June 20, 2025 1:17 PM

[quote] is it true that her brother has been living with dementia for years?

Lucie and "Little Ricky" reunited recently. They talk of Desi, Jr., in the present sense with no indication that he is ill.

I love Lucie, what can I say?

She really does seem to be smart, kind and lives in a land of reality. Her honesty is refreshing.

by Anonymousreply 54June 30, 2025 10:18 PM

R48 I think that was partly her decision. She chose to prioritise family over work.

by Anonymousreply 55June 30, 2025 10:44 PM

Lucie seems very grounded and "normal," which is nice to see from somebody who was the child of such a massive celebrity.

Desi Jr seems reclusive. His wife passed away several years ago.

by Anonymousreply 58July 1, 2025 12:45 AM

I didn't realize - or had forgotten - that Desi, Jr., became a father at the age of 15.
