Democrats no matter who the the nominee is

We will all get in formation together. Fascism will never win again in America.

You bet! Let's stop fighting each other and fight to save democracy from fascist Trump.

by Anonymousreply 1July 8, 2024 12:40 PM

It did win for 4 years, but how about NEVER EVER AGAIN!

by Anonymousreply 2July 8, 2024 12:48 PM

It’s a nice slogan, but too many people don’t want the leader of the nation to be slack-jawed and sundowning on an international stage.

If you support the Democratic Party, demand a capable candidate who can win.

It is too late OP. Biden and his supporters have ensured defeat in what should have been a winnable election.

by Anonymousreply 5July 8, 2024 1:08 PM

Democrats “in formation?” Are you high?

by Anonymousreply 6July 8, 2024 1:23 PM

r3 - as opposed to the current leader who saved the country from Trump has turned in record job and GDP growth?

by Anonymousreply 7July 8, 2024 3:16 PM

R7:

The point is to defeat Trump.

Too many people are not going to show up to vote for a man in a tragic and very public decline.

The unsalvageable debate performance revealed not only the current state of the president’s faculties, but also the subterfuge of his inner circle and the complicity of the press in hiding it.

Now it may be too late to bring in another candidate due to this highly orchestrated obfuscation.

Democrats had three years to prime an electable candidate. They blew it. Now we’re fucked.

Abner thinks so.

r8 if that is the point, then at this late stage in the game, chipping away at confidence in the current candidate by calling for him to step down is not going to win an election. In fighting will only assure Trump wins. Who do you expect dems to pull out of their ass who can gain confidence in 5 months?

by Anonymousreply 10July 8, 2024 4:09 PM

I think almost anyone would earn more of the voters’ confidence at this point. I do not believe that Biden can successfully campaign, win the election, or run the nation.

His confidence? That I don’t care about. His handlers should have nudged him out long before the debate debacle. The fact that they didn’t definitely doesn’t inspire confidence in me.

by Anonymousreply 11July 8, 2024 4:51 PM

[quote] It’s a nice slogan, but too many people don’t want the leader of the nation to be slack-jawed and sundowning on an international stage.

Better a senile Biden than Trump under any circumstances. Trump is a disaster on the international stage. He is (deservedly) regarded as a buffoon.

by Anonymousreply 12July 8, 2024 4:54 PM

So was George W. Bush. Didn’t stop him from winning re-election.

by Anonymousreply 13July 8, 2024 5:11 PM

Does anyone here think Trump isn’t praying for Biden to run?

by Anonymousreply 14July 8, 2024 5:40 PM

Exactly, r14. Republicans are unsurprisingly soft right now regarding Biden because he is their ideal candidate to run against Trump: a doddering old man whose key advisors seem to be his wife who claps and coddles him like a three-year-old child and his crackhead son, who is clinging to his only hope for money and power.

R12, we already know all about Trump. This isn’t about comparisons. This is about winning. Republicans understand that. Only some Democrats do.

Yes, we know, you’ll vote for a vegetable over Trump. We have seen that proud proclamation over and over. Not enough people agree with you at this point, and your declarations of supporting a brain dead head of state are not bolstering his candidacy.

The election will be decided by the currently undecided in a handful of key states. Offering the option of a befuddled old man whose family seems to be operating him like rank amateur marionette puppeteers.

Skip the “But Trump…” bullshit. We know who he is and how bad he is. His family as well. Regurgitating what has already been established and what his core bloc doesn’t give a fuck about or even admires is simply spinning wheels in mud.

Do you want to win the election?

Then replace Biden on the ticket. Will it work? No idea, but it’s a better shot than what we’ve got. The very narrow window that we are left with lies in the lap of everyone who tried to spin his increasing feebleness as right wing sleight of hand and all those shooting out the knee-jerk obvious but useless kvetching about how Trump is so much worse.

This was a fuckup by the Biden family, the White House staff, swaths of the Democratic Party, and the mainstream media that is absolutely inexcusable and may result in a disaster for the nation. Correcting the course may be impossible, but it’s a better option than the elder abuse being touted as the only hope.

by Anonymousreply 15July 8, 2024 6:15 PM

People who defend Biden by saying “What about Trump?” are saying there is no defense of Biden.

by Anonymousreply 16July 8, 2024 6:24 PM

"You bet! Let's stop fighting each other and fight to save democracy from fascist Trump."

Pleas for unity didn't stop the Republicans and other left-leaning organizations from engaging in partisan bickering and unite to help defeat the Nationalists during the Spanish Civil War.

Christian Socialists and Communists couldn't stop their inter-nicene warfare long enough to defeat Naziism and Hitler.

Various factions of Democrats/Progressives/Leftists in the US won't stop bitching among each other because it is important for every voice to be heard and you don't want to tell anyone to STFU or get hurt feelings. This as Donald Trump and the Christian Fascists wipe their asses with the US Constitution and look as the left as week and disorganized.

by Anonymousreply 17July 8, 2024 6:32 PM

The entire future of planet Earth sits on the frail shoulders of Joseph Biden. If Trump wins Ukraine will disappear; U.S. democracy will disappear; green energies, abortion, Obamacare, LGBTQ rights will disappear ... and the shithole countries will fall one by one to Putin and Xi.

by Anonymousreply 18July 8, 2024 9:08 PM

We can disagree respectfully about who should be at the top of the ticket and agree that we will vote for the ticket whatever it winds up being.

by Anonymousreply 19July 8, 2024 10:06 PM

R15 - Bravo. Well-stated, and I agree with you. This is a massive fuck-up by the Democratic Party, and unfortunately, it's the populace that will bear the weight of a Trump return to the presidency. The corporate Dems and those Dems already in office? Yeah, they'll be fine, of course, the fuckers. Ugh, disgusted by it all.
