What was that nonsense about? I can't remember what brought about that lunacy.
Was it Greenland that Trump wanted to buy?

He wanted access to their natural resources - getting more available now that the glaciers are melting - and he thought Greenland would be an important spot for defense.
I think.

Greenspan, I think…. ;)

OP....How sad you couldn't search for one of the MULTIPLE Trump/Greenland threads.

Yes, but he settled for the Supreme Court.

Every POTUS since Truman has wanted to purchase Greenland for its strategic location and mineral deposits. If the Biden Administration purchased it most of you would label him a genuis.

R11 I’m seeing it now. An attack ad using Genesis song “Invisible Touch” and clips of Trump destroying things.

Greenland is strategic *hic*!
by Anonymous | reply 14 | August 13, 2024 12:11 AM |
He was pissed off about Puerto Rico’s lack of slavish devotion after the hurricane (he even went there and tossed PAPER TOWELS!) so he fantasized about somehow getting rid of PR and buying Greenland.

Greenland is three times the size of Texas. What makes anybody think Denmark will even consider selling it?
by Anonymous | reply 16 | August 13, 2024 2:49 AM |
R16 You think his followers know that? You think he knows that!? Dee Plorable couldn’t find Denmark on a map if it was highlighted. Trump embodies the worst tendencies of ugly Americans. Blurt out stupid shit with great authority. Then blame someone else when shit hits the fan.

Greenland and Denmark said to Trump: GTFO.

.Trump sought to acquire Greenland the day he moved it off his shithole list.

I think people being amazed by the thought of the U.S. purchasing territory shows people's ignorance of U.S. history. Louisiana, Alaska, the Virgin Islands, the Gadsden Purchase. American history, like Civics, should be required courses in American schools.

A little familiarity with most sovereign nations’ response to the Head of State of the USA going on a deluded real estate shopping spree in Europe for random swathes of their countries would also be useful, R22.

Trump and friends still looking at Greenland.
by Anonymous | reply 24 | December 12, 2024 3:22 PM |
This Wikipedia article explains the importance of Greenland to the U.S. and the attempts by the U.S. in 1868 and 1948 to purchase it, and again under Trump. The U.S. previously purchased the U.S. Virgin Islands from Denmark. If you know American history, you know purchasing land from another country is something that does happen. I suppose because it was Trump, it seemed unusual to people not familiar with history.

Just one of many cringeworthy moments in his first shambolic term

That wasn’t it, Defacto. It was the crass way he did it, like the crass way the asshole does literally everything.
