Coup part 2 - How the GOP may respond to a Trump loss in 2024
"First, Republicans need to make sure they’re in control of the House of Representatives on January 6th, 2025, when the new president will be certified.
To do that, even though Democrats might have won enough seats to take back the House in the 2024 election, Speaker Johnson will refuse to swear into Congress on January 3rd a handful of those Democrats, claiming there are “irregularities” in their elections that must be first investigated. Then, regardless of how many votes Biden won by, electoral or popular, the House simply refuses to certify the electoral college votes of enough states that the minimum of 270 isn’t reached. Under the 12th Amendment, like with the election of 1876, that throws the election to the House, where each state has one vote.
While a majority of Americans live in a state run by Democrats, a majority of the states themselves are run by Republicans. Each state gets one vote for president in the House, and right now 26 state delegations are GOP-controlled, meaning that a majority of the House would simply vote to put Trump back into the White House, 26-23 (Pennsylvania’s delegation is 50/50). All totally legal."

R3 I’m sure it made sense in the original Ukrainian.

For example, R3
There are more people in Manhattan north of 86th Street than there are in North Dakota and more people south of 86th Street than there are in South Dakota. And more people in Brooklyn than Wyoming and more people Queens than Idaho and Montana.
But if the election were thrown to the House of Representatives, the New York State delegation would get ONE vote just like each of the FIVE state delegations listed above.
Make sense?

Don't they need the VP to preside over this? Can't exactly see her shrinking away from her appointed duties.

VP presides over the certification of electors.
Their plan is to litigate state by state such that electors aren't in place. Absent enough electors, then the contingency plan is to have every state delegation cast one vote each.

I sure the doomsday scenario OP paints doesn't come to pass.

We can't know until it happens. Are Dems not supposed to win because of fears of how the GOP might respond? These articles all come across as fear mongering and urging people not to vote Dem as to avoid turmoil.

Trump's rallies are getting smaller and smaller. And I sense that even a few Magats are a little scared of Project 25. When they hear that the plan is cutting social security out, their ears perk up. Trump is toast. And there are too many fucking threads on this topic. All these nuisance threads cause the site to be slow.
