Is Celine Dion the best singer in the history of the world?

I dare say she is the best singer in the world.

Best or loudest?

by Anonymousreply 1July 5, 2024 1:51 AM

I didn’t know Celine Dion invited Ana Gasteyer onto the stage to perform with her.

That’s a good sport.

by Anonymousreply 2July 5, 2024 2:03 AM

We love you Celine!

by Anonymousreply 3July 5, 2024 2:08 AM

Sad, last days.

by Anonymousreply 4July 5, 2024 2:10 AM

She is da greatust singah in da wurld.

by Anonymousreply 5July 5, 2024 4:46 AM

Oh brother.

by Anonymousreply 6July 5, 2024 4:48 AM

In her prime, her vocals were hard to beat. Same for Steve Perry.

by Anonymousreply 7July 5, 2024 4:49 AM

R7 agree with both of these. Their primes were unmatched.

by Anonymousreply 8July 5, 2024 5:13 AM

Wow! Celine posts on Datalounge!

by Anonymousreply 9July 5, 2024 5:19 AM

Judy Garland is the best singer.

by Anonymousreply 10July 6, 2024 12:41 AM

Not a chance! Shirley Bassey is the Queen!

Barbra Streisand, Judy Garland and Aretha Franklin, hands down. Better tone and timbre and much better artists.

by Anonymousreply 12July 6, 2024 3:22 AM

Shirley had a great voice and produced some spectacular vocals but her camp sensibility diminished her artistry- ditto Celine.

by Anonymousreply 13July 6, 2024 3:23 AM

Judy was one of the most talented singers ever. She also had a lot of pain and struggle throughout her life. Despite that, she had a good heart, which is hard to encounter in Hollywood. At a time when gay people were oppressed beyond belief, they identified with her struggles and she theirs.

Lulu is superior.

by Anonymousreply 15July 6, 2024 3:30 PM

Certainly the gawkiest singer in the history of the world.

by Anonymousreply 16July 6, 2024 3:33 PM

La veuve Angélil.

by Anonymousreply 17July 6, 2024 3:50 PM

She’s a little stiff, no?

by Anonymousreply 18July 6, 2024 4:00 PM

I like Karen Carpenter.

by Anonymousreply 19July 7, 2024 6:36 AM

No.

by Anonymousreply 20July 7, 2024 6:56 AM

Stiff.

by Anonymousreply 21July 7, 2024 6:56 AM

She is a poor man’s Ashlee Simpson.

by Anonymousreply 22July 7, 2024 6:56 AM

I hear she bit her husband's head off after they mated.

by Anonymousreply 23July 7, 2024 8:36 PM

YES!

Whitney Houston

by Anonymousreply 25August 14, 2024 4:19 AM

Celine is great. But the greatest? Well, she is certainly up there among the greats.

by Anonymousreply 26August 14, 2024 4:20 AM

Whitney

by Anonymousreply 27August 14, 2024 4:22 AM

R24 That performance was in playback and the track was pitch corrected.

by Anonymousreply 28August 14, 2024 4:24 AM

She was hilarious as Celine. That SNL cast used to rock.

by Anonymousreply 29August 14, 2024 4:51 AM

How is it even possible that a French Canadian couldn't speak even a little bit of English?

Was she home schooled, or something?

R30 You do realize she grew up dirt poor. At least I remember reading that or something.

by Anonymousreply 31August 14, 2024 5:05 AM

And what was all this fuss about?

She refused an award at this ceremony, as only the very dramatique Celine Dion can do.

Never could stand her voice.

My vote is for Eva Cassidy.

Is Celine losing her hair?

Or is it just thinning?

Hair loss is symptomatic of anorexia.

Too much...there's an arrogance about her voice. Can't explain it.

by Anonymousreply 35August 14, 2024 5:37 AM

She has that same dorky awkward quality that Garth Brooks projects. They are embarrassing to watch. Equally cheesy.

by Anonymousreply 36August 14, 2024 5:48 AM

OP's question is beneath contempt. If the answer isn't me, it is certainly one of my peers.

by Anonymousreply 37August 14, 2024 6:45 AM

Sometimes her singing can sound a bit stiff.
