Fuck this does not look good. The B list governors (Hochul, Moore) gave their usual talking points about the governors' meeting with Biden. The top contenders Newsom and Whitmer were nowhere to be seen. Also, they moved the Stephanopolous interview in its entirety to Friday - could there be some sort of resignation announcement in the interview?

Biden was forced to accept the early debate to prove he was lucid and if he did poorly he promised he would end his campaign. He is not stepping down and not resigning because his family has committed treason.

The 51 intelligence officials who dismissed Hunter Biden’s laptop as Russian collusion were correct. It has all the earmarks of Russian kompromot. But just because it’s kompromat doesn’t mean it’s not true. Hunter Biden accepted bribes from the Ukrainians in exchange for his father’s influence, which we know Joe Biden exercised. But the Intelligence Community WANTS the Cold War to continue, so they tried to cause doubt about it in the media.

The Russians wanted Trump in the White House for a second term, which is why the laptop ended up with that guy who looks like a walleye who gave it to the Trump campaign.

Ashley Biden’s diary was also stolen in 2020 and sold to Project Veritas. Also kompromot. Russia knew it was going to invade Ukraine in 2022 but no one else did. They did not want Biden in the White House.

And now the Ukrainians do not want Trump in the White House, so they are doing the same thing.

[quote] could there be some sort of resignation announcement in the interview?

No.

It would be totally inappropriate to announce historic news in an exclusive interview.

The point if the interview is to show he hasn’t lost it, but the fact that it’s not live and is likely to be edited detracts from that.

[quote] if he did poorly he promised he would end his campaign.

In what universe? Not this one.

by Anonymousreply 27July 4, 2024 1:52 PM

If the man is serious about continuing his campaign, he had better get on television immediately and subject himself to a press conference or interviews to explain himself and to reassure the country that he is, indeed, lucid. This silence is deafening and just destroys his credibility daily. Get in front of it or get out.

by Anonymousreply 29July 4, 2024 2:06 PM

Will Biden be doing any public engagements for the 4th?

by Anonymousreply 30July 4, 2024 2:07 PM

I hope everyone totally enjoys the Independence Day holiday, as it will be the last as a free nation.

Trump and the Republicans are predatory jackals, and they can't wait until January 2025 to take over, especially now that they have SCOTUS in their back pocket. Sometime after Labor Day, Trump and the Republican Party will announce the 2024 elections have been canceled, Trump is now President for life, and Biden will be placed in "protective custody" for his own good and Project 2025 will commence in earnest.

And thanks to the NY Times and the Washington Post and the anti-Biden Democrats, its far better to have a fascist 78 year old dictator in the Oval Office than a 82 year old socialist Democrat.

by Anonymousreply 53July 5, 2024 4:35 PM

Something is indeed coming... and it's mighty Joe Biden giving an interview to George Snuffleupagus saying that if the country will support his re-election, help the Dems keep and grow their majority in the Senate and give them the majority in the House, he'll start by expanding the Court and find cases to re-submit everything from Roe to this awful Constitution-ending immunity ruling, reversing everything the Rotten Roberts Court has done for these last years, convicting and incarcerating Donald Trump, and putting the country on track to continue leading the world in the 21st century. And he can point out that we can otherwise succumb to Trump and the criminals in the GQP, and watch as America becomes Putin's bitch and loses all influence and power in the world.

He must remind everyone what's at stake every single day between now and his victory on Nov 5.

by Anonymousreply 54July 5, 2024 4:48 PM

Michelle Obama is a stupid fantasy. If we actually do this replacement switcheroo thing, it will be Kamala Harris as the only reasonable, only logical replacement candidate. Especially since she's the only one who can claim that any money raised is for the "Harris" and the "Biden" campaigns.

If people are going to keep hollering for Biden to step aside, they should realize at least that their fantasy candidate is not going to magically appear. It will be Kamala Harris, and go from there.

sorry, apparently it's Catherine the Great who will be the substitute candidate, at least as far as the loon vote goes.

by Anonymousreply 57July 5, 2024 4:54 PM

[quote]If Biden were truly interested in returning a Democrat in the White House, he would resign then campaign like hell for Harris. I fear his ego is too big though.

This is such a fucking stupid take. Biden can win, and in this racist & sexist country, has a far better chance of winning than Harris (even though she'd be great). And if Biden cannot finish out his term, she'd step in AS IS HER CONSTITUTIONAL DUTY. So why create chaos by having Biden drop out after winning the primary?

Stop being stupid panicky bedwetters. Biden can win, all you have to do is just stop tearing him down and then show up to vote for him. Dems win. Maybe VP Harris takes over at some point, who knows, WHO CARES? This is about keeping Trump out of office and the GOP out of power. It's not about one man, it's about an ADMINISTRATION. And Biden's administration is top notch.

by Anonymousreply 58July 5, 2024 4:57 PM

I've tried to make the case that it's about the administration and not the man, R58, but as R56 shows us, we have to play the game so that the stupid people can feel good about voting for the party that is going to save America from the fascists and theocrats.

The critical mission is to get Joe Biden re-elected. End of story.

by Anonymousreply 59July 5, 2024 5:01 PM

Some unnamed event is coming at some point in the future.

Why that's bad news for Joe Biden.

by Anonymousreply 60July 5, 2024 5:25 PM

Over 100 newspapers called for Bill Clinton to resign.

There were calls to replace Obama with Hillary.

There were calls to replace Hillary late in 2016.

There are calls to replace Joe Biden now.

If you are a Democrat, the press will at some point just demand that you get out.

STOP LETTING YOURSELF BE PLAYED.

by Anonymousreply 61July 5, 2024 5:57 PM

In both commercials and speeches, Biden needs to 1): remind everyone about the recent Supreme Court decision; then 2) directly quote Trump's recent statements about how he wants to become a dictator on Day 1 and describe what Project 2025 is, then 3) finish with "is that what you want?"

by Anonymousreply 62July 5, 2024 6:09 PM

Because it’s good for rethugs, r61.

It wouldn’t surprise me in the least if the thugs are planting these dumb stories to distract from the 34 FELONY CONVICTIONS of their orange god.

The stupid media runs with it because money is their god.

When they all manage to succeed in burning the whole place down, they will blame Democrats and scream “do something “, all the while pushing thug talking points.

The other guy has said he wants to be a dictator, and tried to use a riot and a whole lot of bullshit electors and bullying various governors and state officials to try to steal the presidency last time r67. It's not some mystery as to who the would-be dictator is here.

And everybody knows his Supreme Court, and it is is his more than the constitution's at this point, wants to give him the powers to be a dictator.

This isn't even debatable.

by Anonymousreply 70July 5, 2024 7:55 PM

You know what we need? A group of Senators on the steps of the Supreme Court asking why this court has gone off the rails and when the fuck the rest of us are going to do something about it. We need a group of deeply concerned Senators to ask why the fuck we haven't impeached Thomas and Alito yet and why we are all just calmly submitting to monarchical rulings about the presidency.

by Anonymousreply 73July 5, 2024 8:08 PM

I think if Biden could do a high profile appearance to reassure people, he would have. Something IS wrong with him and it seems like they are trying to figure out if he can fake it until November. The problem is there aren’t any good alternatives. Kamala as candidate might as well hand the election to Trump. She’s just not electable unfortunately yet she has enough of an ego that she won’t bow out.

by Anonymousreply 74July 5, 2024 8:18 PM

So basically EVERYBODY has to bow out until we get to your fantasy candidate r74, who I'm guessing must never, ever, ever be mentioned, cause that would be a "diversion."

Honestly, I wish we could vote for "Democrat to be named later" but that is not how our system works and it just won't work here. There is going to have to be an actual person and they are going to have to be presented somehow. So, really, who and how, exactly?

I'm leaning toward a desperate group of Democrats trying to get the message out about him before it was too late.

by Anonymousreply 80July 5, 2024 9:43 PM

R75 I don’t have a fantasy candidate. I wish that I did. It seems like there are not many good alternatives if Biden is truly diminished. Hopefully the idea of a second Trump presidency will be enough to get people out to vote for whoever is on the ballot.
