Just pure entertainment. Sorely missed

Such an admirable second banana. I never failed to acknowledge his contributions when carrying my many more sacks of fan mail past his dressing room door.

[quote]Sorely missed.
You're watching his performances now and you didn't see him for the last 10 years of his life.
What precisely are you missing?
Thanks.

He was a reported first class asshole as he got older. But shit he was so talented. Shame to ruin a great career.

The David Duchovny eyes made me dislike David Duchovny on sight. Poor David.

I bet the little boy in blue shorts grew up to be a fabulous chorus boy or theatre queen.

Really? I've only heard good things. "Gentleman" is how many people described him.
At any rate, he was a battered husband and put up with it for several years to remain with his daughter.
But he eventually divorced his abusive wife and was devastated when she got full custody.

He guest starred on an episode of The Nanny as Aunt Freida's (Lanie Kazan) rich, but boring, boyfriend.

Donald O'Connor was a huge talent and was on a par with Gene Kelly.
His downfall was his mug. Great dancer with a face for radio.

He definitely was on par with Kelly, but played the clown, so he would be second fiddle throughout.

I loved him. His “Make ‘Em Laugh” remains joyful and hilarious.
And the stories of him forgetting the lyrics in “Bring Back Birdie” and saying to the chorus boys “you sing it — I hate this song” make me swoon.

He was in my dad's regimen in the Philippines during WWII.
My dad said he was arrogant. Then again, my dad didn't really like anybody.
