Really? I've only heard good things. "Gentleman" is how many people described him.

Donald O'Connor was a huge talent and was on a par with Gene Kelly.

His downfall was his mug. Great dancer with a face for radio.

He definitely was on par with Kelly, but played the clown, so he would be second fiddle throughout.

I loved him. His “Make ‘Em Laugh” remains joyful and hilarious.

And the stories of him forgetting the lyrics in “Bring Back Birdie” and saying to the chorus boys “you sing it — I hate this song” make me swoon.

He was in my dad's regimen in the Philippines during WWII.

My dad said he was arrogant. Then again, my dad didn't really like anybody.
