What is taking cocaine like?

We are watching the episode of "Girls" where Hannah uses coke. She's acting like lots of characters who use coke in tv and movies: amped UP. Is that how it actually is?

by Anonymousreply 83July 10, 2024 6:56 AM

I tried it many times and it didn't do a thing for me. But everybody's different; what feels good to you might make someone else freak out. Me, personally, I loved heroin.

by Anonymousreply 1July 1, 2024 11:56 PM

I only did it once in college and it didn't do a thing to me. Never had the desire to do it again.

by Anonymousreply 2July 2, 2024 12:02 AM

I did it 2-3 times. The post nasal drip was a deal breaker for me.

I did get the high, but it was too expensive, and just not worth the trouble.

by Anonymousreply 3July 2, 2024 12:04 AM

by Anonymousreply 5July 2, 2024 12:10 AM

It’s alright for quiet night in the house, but if you REALLY want to paint the town and feel like an invincible rock star/king of the world, you have to shoot-up meth.

by Anonymousreply 6July 2, 2024 12:15 AM

r6 Knows how to par-TAY 🤪

by Anonymousreply 7July 2, 2024 12:17 AM

When I worked in restaurants a lot of the waiters used coke during their shift. Let's just say they got shit done.

by Anonymousreply 8July 2, 2024 12:19 AM

Paranoia-ville. Imagining having cops chasing me, diarrhea, and coming off it, just anxiety to the max. Total waste

by Anonymousreply 9July 2, 2024 12:28 AM

Actually I kind of liked it, but it was too expensive for regular use. Lots of the synthetics worked better, lasted longer and for a fraction of the cost

by Anonymousreply 10July 2, 2024 1:00 AM

Makes you feel like, and, at least to yourself, SOUND like the smartest person in the room.

by Anonymousreply 11July 2, 2024 1:05 AM

Daddy always warned me about men and liquor. He never said anything about women and cocaine.

by Anonymousreply 12July 2, 2024 1:07 AM

Gives you energy, makes you talkative and more confident. A a fun feeling.

by Anonymousreply 13July 2, 2024 1:17 AM

It makes your farts lethal.

by Anonymousreply 14July 2, 2024 1:21 AM

It’s fabulous.

by Anonymousreply 15July 2, 2024 1:22 AM

I never knew what to do with myself when I had all that energy. I preferred MDMA.

by Anonymousreply 16July 2, 2024 1:26 AM

I had to do it a few times before I realized why people enjoy it. By the time you realize why people enjoy it, it's too late.

Here's my response to an old thread, which might give some insight:

They are both uppers, but in my experience the high is quite different. With coke, I felt like the smartest, best-looking, sexiest guy in the room. My confidence increased five-fold. It's like a feeling of narcissistic euphoria. It also allows you to drink endlessly without feeling or appearing drunk, and (in my case) also makes you want to chain smoke. But it also transforms you into someone fiendish and selfish and the high starts to wear off within thirty minutes. The night consists of many trips to the bathroom to do more lines.

I remember starting to feel anxiety even when I still had a little coke left because I was anticipating the comedown. The high wore off once mid-sentence. It was that abrupt. And the coke comedown is awful. The body high lasts longer than the head high and you just lay in bed awake and extremely depressed for hours. The depression is almost indescribable.

In the words of an eldergay trying to get me to stop that shit: "Coke will eat you alive."

I did MDMA alone. If coke induces euphoria, MDMA induces bliss. Everything in the world seems better, beautiful, sublime. I listened to music; each song was the most beautiful song I'd ever heard. I know a lot of people have sex on MDMA, but I had no interest: I could not fathom feeling any better than I already did just sitting on the couch. And it's hard to describe, but you do "roll" when you're on it. When I finally went to bed I couldn't sleep. But unlike coke, the MDMA head high lasted a long time. I laid in bed, awake, and felt the happiest insomnia I've ever felt in my life.

Regular coke use made me irritable and depressed when I wasn't using. In the end it wasn't worth it.

Can't speak for regular MDMA use, but if I had to choose one to do again (it's been 12 or so years since I did either), I would pick MDMA hands down.

by Anonymousreply 17July 2, 2024 1:33 AM

I've never tried it. Ingesting street drugs bought from criminals holds no appeal to me.

by Anonymousreply 18July 2, 2024 1:53 AM

r17's experience with coke was the same as mine. I only did it twice and the comedown is AWFUL. Just awful. The depression is hard to describe. I've never been a clinically depressed person and both times after I did coke the next day was hideous, I was so depressed it was scary. After the second time, I swore off coke and I've never touched it again.

It's such a bullshit drug.

by Anonymousreply 19July 2, 2024 1:58 AM

It gives you a boost of energy and you get talkative and excited and feel powerful and then you start to tweak and grind your teeth as it wears off.

by Anonymousreply 20July 2, 2024 2:26 AM

Listening to and watching Kimberly Guilfoyle speak at a Republican National Convention, OP.

by Anonymousreply 21July 2, 2024 2:27 AM

2mg of Xanax for the comedown. You’ll fall asleep and wake up feeling amazing.

by Anonymousreply 22July 2, 2024 5:26 PM

I did it at most 5 times. The initial feeling of euphoria was great but 8 minutes later I was hit by an intense feeling of anguish/depression that signaled I had to take more to feel good again. I could clearly see how people got hooked on it but that cycle wasn't for me.

by Anonymousreply 23July 2, 2024 5:32 PM

r1 "Me, personally,"

Oh, dear!

by Anonymousreply 24July 2, 2024 5:38 PM

R24? Poetic license.

by Anonymousreply 25July 2, 2024 5:53 PM

I did it once with a friend. The friend said he felt it. It felt nothing.

And I would never, ever do it again with all the fentanyl shit happening nowadays. No way.

by Anonymousreply 26July 2, 2024 6:13 PM

r26 that's another thing. I would never touch coke today (not that I would want to, mind you) because so much of it is cut with Fentanyl now. It's much different than coke was in the past.

by Anonymousreply 27July 2, 2024 9:17 PM

by Anonymousreply 28July 2, 2024 9:24 PM

Instant arsehole powder. I hate what it does to people.

by Anonymousreply 29July 2, 2024 9:25 PM

We used it til the money got scarce, then switched to crack.

by Anonymousreply 30July 2, 2024 10:00 PM

It made me insatiably horny

by Anonymousreply 31July 2, 2024 10:02 PM

I’m bipolar. I imagine my highs were similar to coke highs. I had that whole “this is the best song ever” feeling.

by Anonymousreply 32July 2, 2024 10:07 PM

I had it up my ass, just like Stevie.

by Anonymousreply 33July 2, 2024 10:15 PM

Turn it off. You are too impressionable to watch stuff like that, obviously.

by Anonymousreply 34July 2, 2024 10:18 PM

It's hit and miss... I miss hitting it. Alas, I haven't done it in many years, and there's too much fentanyl being mixed into drugs these days.

by Anonymousreply 35July 2, 2024 10:18 PM

The best drug ever.

by Anonymousreply 36July 2, 2024 10:19 PM

r10 Synthetics... like meth?

by Anonymousreply 37July 2, 2024 10:20 PM

Wow. R17 still on coke?

That's some.........essay....

by Anonymousreply 38July 2, 2024 10:20 PM

r38 no, but I do write for a living.

r32 I'm r17 and also bipolar. I think the high I got from amphetamines like Ritalin or Adderall was closer to hypomania/mania than the coke high. The coke comedown depression is worse than any bipolar depression I've experienced, and I've been seriously depressed most of my life.

I've tried it and it's energizing with euphoria but the high doesn't last long. Probably why people get addicted.

by Anonymousreply 41July 2, 2024 10:49 PM

It’s all fun and games till the sun starts coming up and the goddam birds start singing all you want to do is get off this fucking ride and go home and die.

by Anonymousreply 42July 2, 2024 10:52 PM

My college suite-mate used a wax postage stamp envelope to transport some coke, and then replaced the stamps and put it back on my desk in our dorm. I went to mail something and licked a stamp from that same envelope, and my entire tongue and jaw went numb. It felt exactly like Novocaine used by the dentist. It really scared me because I was afraid I might accidentally chew off the tip of my tongue in my sleep, so I stayed awake all night.

by Anonymousreply 43July 2, 2024 11:09 PM

To me doing coke for the first time was suddenly realizing that I had always been tired, all my life (except for short periods of hypomania because I'm team BIPOLAR too!). That may sound great and it is great for like half an hour but you also have to realize that from that moment there's a choice that needs to be done: to either leave it forever with the constant reminder that something is missing (the effortlessness) and that you are now incomplete, or keep living with the cocaine and the effortlessness that comes with it knowing that the habit will consume and destroy you, sooner or later.

Doing coke for the first time and then shortly afterwards deciding to stop using because you feel the pull and you get a sense that it's best to have a head start in those matters, felt like getting to know my best friend and my soulmate and then ghosting him because you only ever feel complete and happy when he's around despite the knowledge of the fact that... he has already...

by Anonymousreply 44July 2, 2024 11:17 PM

I only really enjoyed it when I freebased it with a friend who was dating a dealer. I loved it so much I knew I could never do it again, and I haven’t.

by Anonymousreply 45July 3, 2024 12:31 AM

I never got that amazing coke high that people, including some of the posters here, talk about. The one where you feel so sexy and intelligent and wonderful. All coke did for me was make me want more coke and I couldn't stop talking. I just rambled on and on all night. And then there was the next day where I felt like total shit and horribly depressed. I didn't like it at all.

Different people have different reactions to the same drugs, I guess.

by Anonymousreply 46July 3, 2024 12:36 AM

Depends on how good the coke is and what it's mixed with.

It makes you super horny, sometimes.you get a raging erection. Sometimes you can't get hard. Helps to be versatile.

by Anonymousreply 47July 3, 2024 12:41 AM

I did it a bunch at college in the 80s. We were close enough to NYC and kids were rich enough and connected enough that you could use a dorm phone to find a supply. Great highs, wonderful parties. But, like a few others on this thread, I realized that when I was waking up from a wonderful party the night before and my first thought was “I need a line,” it was time to stop. I feel lucky that a) I got to do that in the 80s before fentanyl and b) it was that easy to quit.

by Anonymousreply 48July 3, 2024 12:52 AM

It seems I had a more adventuresome youth than most. I couldn't even hazard a guess how much blow I've done: that was an off-and-on thing for close to 20 years, though I've never used it regularly. For some reason I never got a hangover from it, but OTOH it usually fucked up my sleep patterns for a couple days afterwards. Yep, the euphoria as described above is accurate, but I cringe to think at all the times I had "diarrhea of the mouth" from chatting nonstop. On the down side, I always suffered from coke dick, and if I was planning to hook up, I had to plan in advance & bring along a Viagra just in case.

Perhaps oddly, the only variety of a cocaine derivative that "did nothing" for me – as some early posters noted for cocaine – was crack! I only tried it once, and felt literally nothing from it.

Also did plenty of MDMA, now known as "molly." Did it once during Covid lockdowns, actually. (A friend had an extra, and we were bored.)

Others: basically every well-known benzo at some point. Adderall & Ritalin. (Not together.) Ambien & Lunesta. (Ditto.) Pot & shrooms. (Sometimes together.) Oxy, both -codone & -Contin. At least a dozen of opioids, all less strong than oxy.

The two that were always on my OH HELL NO list were heroin & LSD.

Youth isn't always wasted on the young. :-)

by Anonymousreply 49July 3, 2024 12:53 AM

Interesting about LSD, r49. I think I would do it at least once. Mushrooms scare me more than LSD.

Several years ago, in Canada, I smoked some dank weed. That shit was STRONG. It was one of the most intense experiences I've ever had -- and I imagine close to what an LSD trip would be like.

by Anonymousreply 52July 3, 2024 12:58 AM

R50, I've done that as well, but the strongest shit I've ever encountered – stronger than even shrooms – was in Amsterdam.

by Anonymousreply 53July 3, 2024 1:27 AM

It never amped me up. However, it did open me up socially. I'm an introvert and after a couple of bumps, I was talking to EVERYBODY. I felt relaxed almost euphoric. It helped me socially, so that was the out I gave myself. HOWEVER, the next morning... scratch that...the next TWO mornings, my ass was laid OUT. It was worse than any hangover. I called in sick a few times, but my days off were wasted on recovery.

I never let it get out of hand, but I just got tired of the aftereffects, so I quit.

by Anonymousreply 54July 3, 2024 12:03 PM

I didn’t use it a lot and had good experiences mostly but I know it’s instant asshole powder. Made the decision five years ago to never use again.

A good friend is an addict. I’m pretty much over his crap as he acts like a raging bastard on it. My plan is to disengage next time I’m the target of his attacks.

by Anonymousreply 55July 3, 2024 12:11 PM

OP- What is sucking a COCK 🍆 like?

by Anonymousreply 56July 3, 2024 12:12 PM

R55 My best friend--RIP--was a huge cokehead who I met later in life. The shit she and her cokehead boyfriend put us through was just like it is in a goddamned Lifetime movie. I remember actually thinking that at one point in the friendship

by Anonymousreply 57July 3, 2024 12:25 PM

I'm glad I got all my illicit drug use out of my system by the time I was 30.

I would never take anything from the street today -- including pot -- because of Fentanyl.

by Anonymousreply 58July 3, 2024 12:35 PM

it causes acute mania basically. you become a chatterbox who is easily excited by any idea and find yourself suddenly coming up with all these plans and goals that you have the utmost confidence in. you can't eat, food is like chewing sand. when it wears off you experience nightmarish despair and irritability for several hours.

by Anonymousreply 59July 3, 2024 1:00 PM

I enjoy being sober, but I was at a party once where they ordered cocaine and nearly everyone else was having it. I don't know about them being depressed, but I was never so bored in my life. People who had been quite interesting before were suddenly tedious drones who obviously thought their every word was genius. So. Not.

In short, if you want to take coke, please do it with other coke-takers and don't inflict yourself on others.

by Anonymousreply 60July 3, 2024 2:57 PM

Makes you think you and your fellow sniffer's inane statements are profound wisdom of the ages.

by Anonymousreply 61July 3, 2024 3:07 PM

You can drink more alcohol when you're on coke. Coke is a good club drug. You can switch off between coke and alcohol and the party lasts longer.

Coke doesn't always cause chatterbox behavior.

I've done coke somewhere between 10 and 20 times. Long time ago.

It's probably a drug I would have enjoyed all by myself, but I was usually with others when I did it.

If you're depressed, it would probably make you feel better for a while.

Like any other drug, the first rush is always the best. Thereafter, diminishing returns, and it fucks up your sleep schedule.

The chirping birds in the morning (when you've had no sleep) is horrible.

by Anonymousreply 62July 3, 2024 4:39 PM

I've never tried it. Was too afraid I'd become addicted. I tried ecstacy back in the day, once, and the comedown from that was downright scary. I thought I was going to die from the depressive state I was in.

by Anonymousreply 63July 3, 2024 5:41 PM

never do coke just because, you need to have something to do and you need to be around other people who are also doing it.

by Anonymousreply 64July 3, 2024 5:44 PM

by Anonymousreply 65July 3, 2024 8:07 PM

I've done it several times, only once was it anything special. It really doesn't do anything for me.

by Anonymousreply 66July 3, 2024 10:29 PM

Cocaine did nothing for me, I was partial to snorting crystal meth in the 70s. Outgrew it pretty fast, then the 70s went away too. I wouldn't do it now

by Anonymousreply 67July 3, 2024 10:45 PM

I once read, "Cocaine will make you feel like the President of the United States for fifteen minutes. Crack cocaine will make you feel like God for five minutes."

I smoked crack a couple of times in my party days, and I am forever grateful I never experienced the high.

by Anonymousreply 68July 4, 2024 1:51 AM

[quote]I would never take anything from the street today -- including pot -- because of Fentanyl.

Cupcake, pot is legalized and sold in dispensaries in over half of the US and all of Canada. It's also been largely decriminalized in most larger cities, and those in the know can tell you all about Delta-9 and THCa. I'm not sure if even *one* person has died from smoking fentanyl-laced weed. (And why on *earth* would it have any in the first place? It's added to heroin and pills because it's in powder form and less expensive than opiates. Nobody ever "sprinkles" anything on weed.)

by Anonymousreply 69July 8, 2024 10:19 PM

Amped up and euphoric and thinking you're pretty brilliant.

I snorted a bunch during college and we were all convinced we were the next Sartres and de Beauvoirs.

by Anonymousreply 70July 8, 2024 10:25 PM

I just asked my partner. He said energetic and focused. But for like 10 minutes.

by Anonymousreply 71July 8, 2024 10:33 PM

Almost 20 years ago now when I was 30 I met this hot "straight" guy on a gay site. He was deeply closeted but when he was horny he'd want to hook up, mostly I serviced him. He would take breaks and go to the bathroom and a lot but I was naive and didn't understand. Finally I realized he was snorting coke.

After a few hookups he brought a plate from my kitchen to my bedside table and did his coke there. After a while of sucking him my energy was low and I stopped to take a break. Unbeknownst to me he rubbed a bit of coke on his dick and had me suck it. My energy came back so quickly and we went at it again. My the end of the session my lips were numb and chapped from all the sucking.

Eventually he would put a small piece in my mouth and have me go down on him. He would snort but I never did, and it was always at his direction. However after afew sessions when he legit went to the bathroom I snuck a piece since I wanted that buzz. He would only ever want to mess around when he was getting fucked up. Eventually he started asking me to help with the cost, and I admit a few times i did.

One time after a particular hot and heavy (and long) session when I had a few hits I remember feeling like shit afterwards, and the next day. Also my heart had been racing. I soon moved away and only saw him once after that (we did the same routine but by then he had put on 20 lbs and it wasn't as sexy).

When we first started messing around he was a sexy guy, a few years younger ,about 5'8, 140, with a toned smooth body. He had a 6 pack and loved it have me between his legs sucking his cock and balls and feeling his abs. He was not always into recip but after a snort he would also suck and rim me.

Crazy times for me, looking back I'm glad it never went into further. To this thinking about how it made me feel gets my heart pounding.

by Anonymousreply 75July 9, 2024 2:28 AM

Tried it several times about 8-9 years ago or so.

I'm in the same boat as R1, R2 and R26. It did not produce a "high" or any other noticeable effect for me (other than icky taste in the mouth and numb gums) whatsoever. And I was never the one paying for it, so you can't say that I got ripped off. I'm pretty sure I was on antidepressants at the time, could that be a factor?

I did absolutely FUCKING love molly tho. Fun shit!!

by Anonymousreply 76July 9, 2024 2:58 AM

It makes you feel like doing more cocaine.

by Anonymousreply 77July 9, 2024 3:16 AM

R72, kind of odd to do coke in the bathroom and not just put it out on the table and offer it up. Sounds kind of selfish, actually.

by Anonymousreply 78July 9, 2024 4:03 AM

R78 It's called being CLASSY.

by Anonymousreply 79July 9, 2024 11:53 AM

R78, it was interesting behavior. And it took me a few sessions to realize what he was doing. Not sure if he was being discreet or not wanting to share. But as I said he later on was very generous in sharing - of course he just wanted me to keep sucking his cock as well!

by Anonymousreply 80July 10, 2024 1:34 AM

R80, you also said "Eventually he started asking me to help with the cost." I would consider that tightwad behavior. You're giving him free blowjobs. He's hiding in the bathroom doing coke, he's selfish, not discreet.

by Anonymousreply 81July 10, 2024 5:33 AM

Coke just makes you want more coke. When it's working in your brain you think you're the sexiest thing who ever lived. Then you come down and want to kill yourself.
