For me, it’s Far Away by Nickelback. It’s an almost perfect power ballad.
Oh my god OP- This is the pinnacle. I loved this song so much in 2005 or so? I remember loving this song, The OC, The Comeback, and became obsessed with American Idol around this time... There is another song on the tip of my mind right now that I will add- I just have to remember the band and name.

Here it is!
Broken by Lifehouse-
Utterly horrid and I fucking loved it-
2007

Oh man, and I raise you OP, by this beautiful piece of horror (that I am now downloading with the others!!
Someday is the pinnacle of all pinnacles

R1 And Far Away was featured in as the tear jerking closing song in an episode of Cold Case. With Nicholls Tom and Bobby Cannavale at his peak.
by Anonymous | reply 5 | June 30, 2024 4:36 PM |
And finally this one- which I shall download and listen do repeatedly, no doubt!
Photograph-
by Anonymous | reply 6 | June 30, 2024 4:37 PM |
And You And Me by Lifehouse. From 2005, when the rock was soft and the girls looked like Ashlee Simpson.
by Anonymous | reply 7 | June 30, 2024 4:38 PM |
Was You And Me used to devastating effect in Cold Case? You bet your ass it was.
A runaway’s life was saved from being murdered by as serial killer who preyed on young boys thanks to a brief meeting he had with another teen hustler.
by Anonymous | reply 8 | June 30, 2024 4:43 PM |
And I will say that there is someone that I fucking love who may borderline this category but never reaches its lows-
Chris Daughtry is an amazing vocalist and Daughtry has many killer songs--- They are all earworms- but not terrible-
My favorite artists are Tori, Joni, Kate, Oasis, and Father John Misty-- I am also slowly getting into this Joanna Newsom lady that someone talked about here...
But this middle of the road pop rock shit from 2003-2010 never ever gets old!!
I used to drive around listening to that California song b y Phantom Planet (OC theme song) thinking I was the shit.
Oh dear.
by Anonymous | reply 9 | June 30, 2024 4:43 PM |
Not a fan of Mariah, but this song gets me on my feet.
by Anonymous | reply 10 | June 30, 2024 4:45 PM |
Gotta be Whole Again by the objectively shit Atomic Kitten (their cover of The Tide Is High is a war crime). The video is unreal.
by Anonymous | reply 11 | June 30, 2024 4:46 PM |
R2 r4 r6 r9
All those shows! The harder (less Lilith Fair) songs from Dawson’s Creek and Felicity were like a gateway drug to awesome music I hate.
The 2000s version of Classic Rock died.
by Anonymous | reply 12 | June 30, 2024 4:54 PM |
3 Doors Down- Did they sing the Zoe Jane song?? That one was beautiful-
I have to download so much shitty music this afternoon that it will take me hours!
Thanks OP!

Many may argue that my list includes non-terrible artists so let’s just say that I’m not a fan of these bands, but do enjoy the songs.
Cold as Ice by Foreigner
Stone in Love by Journey
The Devil Went Down to Georgia but Charlie Daniels Band
by Anonymous | reply 14 | June 30, 2024 5:09 PM |
Never understood all the hate for Nickelback. They had some solid songs in the Y2K era. For those of us who were missing ROCK music, it was welcome.

I love that there's so much agreement on the band, but not the song.
My choice:

I’ve always thought she was crap but I love this song.
by Anonymous | reply 19 | June 30, 2024 6:41 PM |
R18 Haha. It’s a hangover from the Friends Don’t Let Friends Listen To Nickelback meme. Which existed before memes were a thing.
As for more terrible bands, Fall Out Boy are tasteless pop punk fun:
by Anonymous | reply 20 | June 30, 2024 6:42 PM |
They had one solid album and then turned into utter shit.
by Anonymous | reply 21 | June 30, 2024 6:44 PM |
Fun fact: Joe Biden is responsible for Fall Out Boy. Pete Wentz’s parents met working for him in the 1970s.
by Anonymous | reply 22 | June 30, 2024 6:47 PM |
I thought Rockstar was Nickelback's biggest hit. I liked that one and Photograph, as well.
by Anonymous | reply 23 | June 30, 2024 6:52 PM |
Awww, r24. I liked that whole album!
by Anonymous | reply 25 | July 1, 2024 12:03 PM |
The stars are blind by Paris Hilton
by Anonymous | reply 26 | July 1, 2024 12:28 PM |
Pete Wentz was the first celebrity dick I ever saw on the interwebz. Also, Nickelback suck so hard they make me embarrassed to be white.
by Anonymous | reply 27 | July 1, 2024 12:47 PM |
R20, I had no idea Kim Kardashian was in that video.
by Anonymous | reply 28 | July 1, 2024 12:50 PM |
I always liked This Is How You Remind Me by Nickelback because it perfectly described a relationship I’d just gotten out of at the time.
I don’t like Jason Derulo but Want to Want Me channels Prince and I love it.
by Anonymous | reply 29 | July 1, 2024 2:27 PM |
The thread title is "Songs you love by terrible artists," it's not "Name some One-Hit Wonders". Looking at you R17, R24
by Anonymous | reply 30 | July 3, 2024 4:22 PM |
R30 You going to be ok, sweetie?
by Anonymous | reply 31 | July 3, 2024 4:27 PM |
I wonder if Gen Zs will be nostalgic for early-00s post-grunge rock.
They unironically love Avril Lavigne.
by Anonymous | reply 32 | July 22, 2024 5:19 PM |
This slapped hard during its heyday, regardless of the fact that it was by JLo
by Anonymous | reply 33 | July 22, 2024 5:22 PM |
Fuck, yes, R34! Even if everything else she ever touched turned to shit, that was amazing. It does rip off Visage's "Fade To Grey" to a degree, but who cares.
by Anonymous | reply 35 | July 22, 2024 5:37 PM |
R32, that is already happening (I think).
by Anonymous | reply 36 | July 22, 2024 6:16 PM |
"Paula Abdul ain't shit! Ma, that girl is singing off-key ON THE RECORD!"
by Anonymous | reply 37 | July 22, 2024 6:17 PM |
She has a writing credit for this but I don't believe it.
by Anonymous | reply 38 | July 22, 2024 6:18 PM |
I hate hate hate Sheryl Crow and her all too-obvious vanity, but I absolutely am a sucker for slide/steel guitar and melodic keyboard in rock/blues music.
So here is her gorgeous song, "Home," and her video featuring JD Vance's constituency.
by Anonymous | reply 39 | July 22, 2024 6:49 PM |
There first two albums were good. It was all downhill after that. Moves Like Jagger was the end.
by Anonymous | reply 40 | July 22, 2024 7:00 PM |
Agreed r33; in fact I heard it yesterday at the gym.
by Anonymous | reply 41 | July 22, 2024 7:03 PM |
For a brief moment in 2003, Dannii, who's generally cheap and basic, flirted with greatness.
by Anonymous | reply 42 | July 22, 2024 7:26 PM |
This group had 2 great songs among a ton of forgettable songs =
by Anonymous | reply 44 | July 23, 2024 10:46 PM |
by Anonymous | reply 45 | July 23, 2024 10:49 PM |
None of their other songs even come close to this one...
by Anonymous | reply 46 | July 23, 2024 10:51 PM |

I can’t stand Jason Mraz in most cases — but 93 Million Miles is gorgeous.
by Anonymous | reply 48 | July 23, 2024 10:56 PM |
I wish they had better but material but they sadly didn't =
by Anonymous | reply 50 | July 23, 2024 11:00 PM |
I will never stop hating myself for liking this song.
by Anonymous | reply 52 | July 23, 2024 11:02 PM |
Maybe some of you should start a self-help group for fans of Nickleback in denial.
by Anonymous | reply 53 | July 24, 2024 12:27 AM |
Color Me Badd sucked hard, but I’ll admit to liking this one.
by Anonymous | reply 55 | July 24, 2024 12:35 PM |
Eve is the best part of this video. Gwen cannot dance.
by Anonymous | reply 56 | July 24, 2024 12:53 PM |
s club party by s club 7, walking on the sun by smashmouth, and butterfly by crazy town
by Anonymous | reply 57 | July 24, 2024 12:55 PM |
Wouldn't it have been easier to start a Nickleback thread OP?
I prefer GnRs, they mastered thr non-cheesy power ballad.
by Anonymous | reply 59 | August 15, 2025 2:36 PM |
Crazy Horses by The Osmonds.
Close the thread.
by Anonymous | reply 60 | August 15, 2025 2:40 PM |

REO Speedwagon - In My Dreams
Night Ranger - Sister Christian

Nickelback's "Animals" is a great song. The rest of their catalog makes me want to vomit.
by Anonymous | reply 64 | August 15, 2025 3:35 PM |
He’s awful and Americans are lucky he never made it over there but this is his one good song, probably because the Pet Shop Boys wrote it.
by Anonymous | reply 66 | August 16, 2025 4:37 AM |

That mirror song — Justin Timberlake
by Anonymous | reply 67 | August 16, 2025 4:43 AM |

R58 No no no.
R. Kelly is a terrible person but not a terrible artist. If anything, “Ignition” is his most gimmicky song that would make people think he’s a terrible artist had they not heard the first decade of his career.
Just saying! Haha
by Anonymous | reply 70 | August 16, 2025 9:53 AM |
R67 That’s you again!
This is terrible artists, not terrible people! Haha!!
by Anonymous | reply 71 | August 16, 2025 9:54 AM |
R52 He’s definitely grown into a real artist though. His new album is the best pop album of the year so far.
Even the elder gays would appreciate the late 80s / early 90s influences inspirations he took.
by Anonymous | reply 72 | August 16, 2025 9:58 AM |
So...like what's the exact number of songs you can love from an artist you think is terrible before going into denial?
Because...
by Anonymous | reply 75 | August 16, 2025 10:49 AM |
If videos did not exist would you have considered these artists terrible or were their looks and styling not up to snuff?
by Anonymous | reply 80 | August 16, 2025 12:26 PM |
R66 - Pet Shop Boys had nothing to do with the writing but Neil is on backing vocals. It was credited to Williams and Guy Chambers.
by Anonymous | reply 81 | August 16, 2025 7:47 PM |
Stacey Q, Two of Hearts
by Anonymous | reply 82 | August 16, 2025 9:48 PM |
Nickelback is great, what are you talking about. Just because they were dorks doesn't mean they didn't make good music.
by Anonymous | reply 83 | August 16, 2025 9:59 PM |
Please state the name of the song and the artist in your text.
