Every streaming app tells you what shows and movies are the most watched on the app each day. I do know that the ads have gotten younger since leaving network tv, before I switched to the commercial free version, I never saw one ad for pharmaceuticals.

Watching Doug's last ep today made me wonder why DOOL never gave Julie and Doug a child of their own

I went down a Days of our Lives old episode rabbit hole today. I'm up to the point where Marlena returns in 1991. I really miss when this show had a budget. The gorgeous sets were great, but what I really noticed watching those old episodes is how we no longer have weather or sound effects. Days used to do a great rain storm.

Also, there was comic relief, but the show wasn't silly.

Bill Hayes was a nice guy. The way Susan Seaforth treated Brenda Benet was deplorable. Susan is a cunt. She can be SO nasty!

Yesterday's scenes with Doug and Julie made it seem like they knew this was his last time on camera (as opposed to Bill becoming sick and unable to film additional scenes). Maybe that's just how the timing worked out.

Unrelated, I love how the show is playing out Li Shin's death. At the time he was killed, it felt unexplained, and then Gabi was in jail for it. Having Li back for the sequence is making me realize that I liked the character more than I thought.

Just when I thought the show was getting better, today's episode fell like a thud.

Connie, in small doses was mildly diverting but she has already overstayed her welcome. She's as annoying as the "cat nurse" became rather quickly, and we now have the threat of her return down the road.

The most annoying feature today was the overuse of flashbacks - something this soap utilizes too frequently, but today really pushed it. It seemed as though 10 minutes of the running time was nothing but flashbacks, using that filter they use that rarely flatters the actor.

In fact, on today's show, we had a flashback less than five minutes after the scene had unfolded.

Stephanie and Bobby/Everett shared a scene in the Salem Inn where he broke things off. A few minutes later when Chad asked her how things were with Everett, we were subjected to the scene we'd just scene all over again. I don't know whether the writers think the viewers are so stupid that they don't remember what they just watched OR the writers are too lazy to write a complete show without the need for these flashbacks. No other soap beats this technique into the ground like DOOL does.

I agree Connie is way over the top. I don't think this can drag out too long as she talks too much and is sloppy. I think NUGabi raised an eye at her today with her "and I won't stab you in the back" comment. And I think my initial impression of NuGabi was off - I am kind of liking her at the moment.

After two days of really good soap drama, this seemed like even more of a letdown. And once again, DOOL has a level of ineptitude where certain incredulous things happen. For instance, there is no way in which the Police Commissioner's hospital room would not have one or more guards outside the door. Nobody could just waltz in like Connie did. It's more annoying and insulting than gripping drama or suspense and her overwrought hammy style of acting, has to go. When viewers groan the minute they see her in a scene, they've overstayed their time.

Jada and Rafe is really just a throwaway couple. They really should put Jada with Bobby. Then hire McKenzie Westmore as Noel Curtis or some kind of retconned Horton and pair her with Rafe.
