OFFICIAL First Biden-Trump Debate Thread PART TWO

Here we go!

by Anonymousreply 610June 28, 2024 4:27 AM

bless you

by Anonymousreply 1June 28, 2024 1:53 AM

Did the Nazis come out of a field or a forest?

by Anonymousreply 2June 28, 2024 1:54 AM

Trump speaks lies proudly.

Biden speaks truth weakly.

by Anonymousreply 3June 28, 2024 1:54 AM

In 15 years, that has never gone so fast. No one had time to post a second to part two!

by Anonymousreply 4June 28, 2024 1:54 AM

Please someone give Joe a shot of vitamin b12 during the break

by Anonymousreply 5June 28, 2024 1:55 AM

Where is Amy Klobuchar.....we need her!

by Anonymousreply 6June 28, 2024 1:55 AM

Will we find each other?

by Anonymousreply 7June 28, 2024 1:55 AM

I may stroke out

by Anonymousreply 8June 28, 2024 1:55 AM

I think I'm over my first impression of Biden's comatose behavior. I'm able to overlook the weak voice and concentrate on what he's saying. I actually think he's loosening up because Trump is pissing him off.

by Anonymousreply 10June 28, 2024 1:55 AM

I don't think this debate will sway voters. The majority hates Trump.

by Anonymousreply 11June 28, 2024 1:55 AM

Ruth Bader Biden

by Anonymousreply 12June 28, 2024 1:55 AM

I am so shocked by Joseph’s performance. It’s devastating.

by Anonymousreply 13June 28, 2024 1:55 AM

This torture watching this. I’d turn it off, but my partner wants to watch it to the end

by Anonymousreply 14June 28, 2024 1:56 AM

I think Joe's recovering. First part was not good, but no, not devastating.

by Anonymousreply 15June 28, 2024 1:56 AM

Is it possible Biden had a stroke and no one told us?

by Anonymousreply 16June 28, 2024 1:56 AM

Someone very famous needs to die tonight and take the focus off the debate. Oprah or Jimmy Carter.. Not wishing them ill but…

by Anonymousreply 17June 28, 2024 1:56 AM

On Twitter you can really see who the fanatics (or paid shills) are. They are trying to say that Dark Brandon is taking Trump down. It's like seeing a Goebbels broadcast.

by Anonymousreply 18June 28, 2024 1:57 AM

Ooh, oooh, wait -- "Nobody has done more for the blacks than I have. Black people love me!" -- Dump

by Anonymousreply 19June 28, 2024 1:57 AM

Joe needs to go home. And the Dems better come up with someone who can win.

by Anonymousreply 20June 28, 2024 1:57 AM

R3 nailed it

by Anonymousreply 21June 28, 2024 1:57 AM
Someone very famous needs to die tonight and take the focus off the debate.

I nominate Trump to die.

by Anonymousreply 22June 28, 2024 1:57 AM

R19, did he really say that? I can’t watch.

by Anonymousreply 23June 28, 2024 1:57 AM

They don't, R11. It's presently [italic]a tie [/italic] between a convicted felon and a doddering fool.

Stop seeing it as you wish and instead as it is. Becayuse it's really fucking bad. The narrative tomorrow is rambling Biden.

by Anonymousreply 24June 28, 2024 1:57 AM

We are doomed.

by Anonymousreply 25June 28, 2024 1:58 AM

R21 He did that in 2016 and Hillary's jaw fell open on camera.

He actually said "THE BLACKS" on national TV.

by Anonymousreply 26June 28, 2024 1:58 AM

I hope someone is preparing hot tea with honey for Joe for during the break and a Red Bull chaser.

by Anonymousreply 27June 28, 2024 1:58 AM

Joe didn't need any rehearsing with facts and figures.

He needed ACTING LESSONS. Stride, don't shuffle. Backbone straight. No squinting. Keep mouth closed. Project voice. Don't look down.

by Anonymousreply 28June 28, 2024 1:58 AM

R22 Oh, pleeeeez, let this happen.

by Anonymousreply 29June 28, 2024 1:58 AM

Just hope Trump snorts something during the break.

by Anonymousreply 30June 28, 2024 1:58 AM

He needs to close his mouth when he's listening to Trump.

by Anonymousreply 31June 28, 2024 1:58 AM

Biden. Seriously? Generations will look back on this and ask what the fuck were Democrats thinking?

by Anonymousreply 33June 28, 2024 1:59 AM

I would have preferred ABC to carry this debate, George Stephanopoulos wouldn't have taken any shit from Trump.

by Anonymousreply 34June 28, 2024 1:59 AM

BLACK JOBS!!!!

by Anonymousreply 35June 28, 2024 1:59 AM

Politicians aren’t going to save us. We have to save ourselves. And NO, I reject all forms of violence. But we need a peaceful revolution against our kleptocratic system.
Trump speaks lies proudly. Biden speaks truth weakly.

Con men and grifters -- if nothing else, they know how to convincingly smooth-talk their marks

by Anonymousreply 38June 28, 2024 1:59 AM

Elder abuse is a real thing.

by Anonymousreply 39June 28, 2024 1:59 AM

Considering how Trump handled Covid I am glad he wasn't here to handle inflation, and inflation hit the entire world. Coming out of Covid caused inflation

by Anonymousreply 40June 28, 2024 1:59 AM

I just love this clip.

by Anonymousreply 41June 28, 2024 1:59 AM

What the fuck's a "black job"?

by Anonymousreply 42June 28, 2024 2:00 AM

Side note but if a woman (e.g. Hillary) was in the same position as Joe and her performance was this bad she would have been removed as the nominee a long time ago.

by Anonymousreply 43June 28, 2024 2:00 AM

I second the nomination R22.

by Anonymousreply 44June 28, 2024 2:00 AM

WHAT ARE BLACK JOBS???

by Anonymousreply 45June 28, 2024 2:00 AM

Immigrants are "taking Black jobs"?? WTH IS THAT SUPPOSED TO MEAN, Joe did not ask.

by Anonymousreply 46June 28, 2024 2:00 AM

True question. First thread is closed, AND YET, posts continue to appear. Is there a magic trick one of you old-timers can share? We need this link posted there if possible.

by Anonymousreply 47June 28, 2024 2:00 AM
Biden. Seriously? Generations will look back on this and ask what the fuck were Democrats thinking?

No, they're going to look back and ask what were MAGAts thinking?

by Anonymousreply 48June 28, 2024 2:00 AM

Oh, God. Fuck me.

"Student debt. The inflation. The woods. My son. Iraq. We're gonna. I'm serious. Black. I mean hispanics. Democracy. We're there's nothing we can't do. I put more. We. Equity. There's a lot going on."

by Anonymousreply 49June 28, 2024 2:01 AM
More than anything, this debate is going to diminish voter turnout. Nobody is happy.

That may be a good thing for Biden.

by Anonymousreply 50June 28, 2024 2:01 AM

I suppose now we know why Garland desperately doesn't want to release the Robert Hur recordings of Biden's responses.

by Anonymousreply 51June 28, 2024 2:01 AM

R15, but I think people have check out and are watching something else...

by Anonymousreply 52June 28, 2024 2:01 AM

Oh that black jobs remark will bite him in his fat ass.

by Anonymousreply 53June 28, 2024 2:01 AM

I bet Tapper and Bash slammed back a couple of shots during the break. This is like something out of "Network," but it's real.

by Anonymousreply 54June 28, 2024 2:01 AM

Nobody told Joe to CLOSE HIS OLD MAN PIE-HOLE!

by Anonymousreply 55June 28, 2024 2:01 AM

Yes r51

by Anonymousreply 56June 28, 2024 2:01 AM

R71, and that is killing us

by Anonymousreply 57June 28, 2024 2:02 AM

The maggots will be impossible to deal with tomorrow.

by Anonymousreply 58June 28, 2024 2:02 AM

Joe should bring up the n-word flying around the Apprentice set. But of course, he won't because that would be a "low blow"

by Anonymousreply 59June 28, 2024 2:02 AM

Bloated blowhard.

by Anonymousreply 60June 28, 2024 2:02 AM

From the NYT:
Live Updates: Biden Tries to Rebound After Shaky Start in Contentious Debate

by Anonymousreply 61June 28, 2024 2:03 AM

are you fucking kidding me? We had immaculately clean air and water? sadly this is when being a completely unembarrassed lying whore actually works.

by Anonymousreply 62June 28, 2024 2:03 AM

"Black jobs are the ones you'd expect. Cleaning toilets, driving city buses, and stealing car stereos!"

by Anonymousreply 64June 28, 2024 2:03 AM

I’d rather have an embalmed Biden as president than a living Trump. Neither one of these two geriatrics is actually going to “lead” the country, their inner circle will. I’d prefer more of the same than Project 2025.

by Anonymousreply 65June 28, 2024 2:04 AM

He keeps saying he had the best this/that numbers, and never cites any sources.

by Anonymousreply 66June 28, 2024 2:04 AM

Trump: “We had H2O…!” LOLOLOL

by Anonymousreply 67June 28, 2024 2:04 AM
Joe should bring up the n-word flying around the Apprentice set. But of course, he won't because that would be a "low blow"

Did you hear the part where Joe said Trump had sex with a porn star while his wife was having a baby? I don't think he's worried about the level of the blows.

by Anonymousreply 68June 28, 2024 2:04 AM

The debate moderators are just letting Trump lie with impunity. They're just sitting there like lumps on a log. A dead cat could moderate better. The result is CNN is basically hosting a Trump rally. IT's fucking irresponsible.

by Anonymousreply 69June 28, 2024 2:04 AM

'"The best environmental numbers ever!"

Poor Daniel Dale, he has to document all of Trump's lies for the CNN after show.

by Anonymousreply 70June 28, 2024 2:04 AM

We had water, in the far-away times!

by Anonymousreply 71June 28, 2024 2:04 AM
The maggots will be impossible to deal with tomorrow.

The oldheads on Facebook are gloating and whooping it up

by Anonymousreply 72June 28, 2024 2:04 AM

Well, tomorrow the Supreme Court will announce that Trump is NOT immune from all crimes. This will remove the taste of this debate from our mouths. Or so we can hope. The shelf-life of news cycles is so very short now.

I am a Biden supporter, given $1200 to his campaign this time around. And I see a man pretty incapable of stating the case as to 1) what he has done, and 2) what he is going to do. It's so much worse than I feared might be possible. Point by point Trump lies and wins the argument.

by Anonymousreply 73June 28, 2024 2:05 AM

Trump - MIGRANTS BAD! That's all he's got.

by Anonymousreply 74June 28, 2024 2:05 AM

People forget that we are also voting for the Administration and those who come with it....

by Anonymousreply 75June 28, 2024 2:05 AM

Why isn’t Biden going after the Repubs agreeing to a border closure!?

by Anonymousreply 76June 28, 2024 2:05 AM

well, the plan CAN'T be, CNN will note all the lies. No, honestly, that really is Joe's job here. Call him a liar, but effectively. And relentlessly.

by Anonymousreply 77June 28, 2024 2:05 AM

No one will remember this debate come November

by Anonymousreply 78June 28, 2024 2:06 AM

In the words of my dearly departed mother: "Oh, my achin' arse!"

by Anonymousreply 79June 28, 2024 2:06 AM
Poor Daniel Dale, he has to document all of Trump's lies for the CNN after show.

If Trump told only a few falsehoods, it would be big news. If he tells a lot, the noise of it all will cancel the effect.

by Anonymousreply 80June 28, 2024 2:06 AM
I don't think this debate will sway voters. The majority hates Trump.

That’s why Trump is leading in the polls and blowing Biden out of the water in state after state. Trump is now expected to win in a landslide thanks to the electoral college. Wake up and stop living in an echo chamber.

by Anonymousreply 81June 28, 2024 2:06 AM

It's not the moderators' job to fact check. This is a debate, not an interview. It's the opponent's job.

by Anonymousreply 82June 28, 2024 2:06 AM

Dump does sound like a raving, paranoid bigot, with "the migrants, the migrants, the migrants".

by Anonymousreply 83June 28, 2024 2:06 AM

R75 And that is exactly the argument Biden should be making. And is not.

by Anonymousreply 84June 28, 2024 2:06 AM

Donald always speaks in the superlative.

"The BEST! The RICHEST! The WORST! The YUMMIEST!"

Someone probably taught him in childhood that if you don't have facts on your side, you can still sound smart by declaring shit the best or the worst.

by Anonymousreply 86June 28, 2024 2:07 AM

They're impossible to deal with now...

by Anonymousreply 87June 28, 2024 2:07 AM

Good point, r82.

by Anonymousreply 88June 28, 2024 2:07 AM
People forget that we are also voting for the Administration and those who come with it....

And they forget the electoral college.

by Anonymousreply 89June 28, 2024 2:07 AM

You expect the WSJ to come out and say corporations were using “supply chain difficulties “ and Covid excuses to hike up their prices so they could have record profits? Inflation? No, greed.

by Anonymousreply 90June 28, 2024 2:07 AM

^not agreeing to (apologies).

by Anonymousreply 91June 28, 2024 2:07 AM

I, too, have contributed to the campaign, but Joe has never been able to use the bully pulpit of his office. A major failing.

by Anonymousreply 96June 28, 2024 2:07 AM

There’s no inflation. That’s a lie.

by Anonymousreply 97June 28, 2024 2:07 AM

Biden keeps saying, "The idea!" like old people do.

by Anonymousreply 98June 28, 2024 2:07 AM

In Cali, black construction workers had excellent paying jobs but were replaced by immigrants. There are many industries which have been devalued by immigrants, but in reference to his "black jobs" comment, there were certain niches that were populated by black people.

by Anonymousreply 99June 28, 2024 2:08 AM

Joe's voice is a bit raspy and weaker than normal tonight. I've seen him talk numerous times in recent weeks and tonight he sounds almost meek. Perhaps he was talking too much during his prep that his voice was affected?

by Anonymousreply 100June 28, 2024 2:08 AM

R85 is a lying moron who is wrong about everything. Fucking dumbass.

by Anonymousreply 101June 28, 2024 2:08 AM

“President Trump, did you lose the 2020 Presidential election?”

by Anonymousreply 102June 28, 2024 2:08 AM
Dump does sound like a raving, paranoid bigot, with "the migrants, the migrants, the migrants".

So you’re calling Americans bigots. Run on that.

by Anonymousreply 103June 28, 2024 2:08 AM

You do anything with SS or Medicare, that will UNITE all voters.

by Anonymousreply 104June 28, 2024 2:08 AM

More Katie Rogers:
Here is a little scene from the one journalist in the White House pool who was allowed to watch Biden and Trump during the commercial break: Biden and Trump stared straight ahead as photographers snapped photos. They did not talk to or look at each other.

by Anonymousreply 105June 28, 2024 2:08 AM

Joe could do A Weekend at Bernie's and I'd still vote for him over Trump.

by Anonymousreply 106June 28, 2024 2:08 AM

the laptop, oh fuck off you whore. and really, just say that, Joe

by Anonymousreply 107June 28, 2024 2:09 AM

It's clear that Trump thinks immigration is a winner for him.

by Anonymousreply 108June 28, 2024 2:09 AM

Again, the "losers and suckers" quote was from one of Dump's own generals!

by Anonymousreply 109June 28, 2024 2:09 AM
Bidens Infrastructure Bill was TOO BIG. And it fueled the inflation we now have.

Inflation in Turkey is 67% I suppose you want to blame that on Biden too.

by Anonymousreply 110June 28, 2024 2:09 AM

R99 "Cali" dude, give it a rest. A Californian will tell you - no immigrant has taken "black construction jobs" here. You don't know what you are talking about.

by Anonymousreply 112June 28, 2024 2:10 AM

R108, it’s one of the top issues with voters.

by Anonymousreply 113June 28, 2024 2:10 AM

Trump is such a racist it makes me want to vomit on him.

by Anonymousreply 114June 28, 2024 2:10 AM
True question. First thread is closed, AND YET, posts continue to appear. Is there a magic trick one of you old-timers can share?

If posters don’t leave the old thread the dialogue box stays open and they can still post. It happens in Oscars threads a lot.

by Anonymousreply 115June 28, 2024 2:10 AM

R105, She considers that news? Who would've imagined otherwise?

by Anonymousreply 116June 28, 2024 2:10 AM

Liberals have just woken up to immigration. Now it’s a problem since it ended up on their doorstep. Even Cher was complaining about it.

by Anonymousreply 117June 28, 2024 2:11 AM

I imagine how a Joaquin Castro, Elizabeth Warren or Cory Booker could slice 'n dice Trump on live TV.

by Anonymousreply 118June 28, 2024 2:11 AM

I think someone beat you to it, R114.

by Anonymousreply 119June 28, 2024 2:11 AM

Dump is taking advice and talking points from an actual wannabe-nazi (Stephen Miller). That should be enough to vote for anybody but him.

by Anonymousreply 120June 28, 2024 2:11 AM

damn, this is another opening. You constantly hire people and say they are awesome and then fire them a little later cause you say they suck.

SAY THAT.

by Anonymousreply 121June 28, 2024 2:11 AM

Biden better say “I don’t fire people because I hire the right people, unlike you.”

by Anonymousreply 122June 28, 2024 2:12 AM

More Zolan Kanno-Youngs:
Democrats are starting to react to the debate. Quentin James, a co-founder of the Collective PAC, an organization dedicated to Black voters and supportive of President Biden, says, “I’m very surprised to see Biden’s voice in the shape that it’s in. Compared to the State of the Union and on the campaign trail, I’m wondering if they did too much debate prep. There’s very little range. Him being hoarse is hurting his performance.”

by Anonymousreply 123June 28, 2024 2:12 AM

Yeah I do know what I'm talking about, R112. Quit sucking Newsom's balls.

by Anonymousreply 124June 28, 2024 2:12 AM

Does anyone really believe that our country is destroyed?

by Anonymousreply 125June 28, 2024 2:12 AM

I’ll always vote for the Democratic candidate, and I do like Joe, but why oh why, haven’t the Dems been grooming someone younger, more dynamic to be the candidate? It’s too late now for Joe to step down, and now I think anyone who was maybe on the fence but can’t stomach voting for Trump will just stay home and not vote.

by Anonymousreply 126June 28, 2024 2:13 AM

Number one, number two. God I need a Looney Tunes cartoon right now. This is worse than I ever imagined. Trump is a fucking idiot and Joe is pretty much dead. I need paper cuts in the web of my toes. Ouch, mommy

by Anonymousreply 127June 28, 2024 2:13 AM
[R99] "Cali" dude, give it a rest. A Californian will tell you - no immigrant has taken "black construction jobs" here.

And we sure as hell don't say "Cali", r112.

by Anonymousreply 128June 28, 2024 2:13 AM

Biden is losing. Sad.

by Anonymousreply 129June 28, 2024 2:13 AM

Is it possible that Trump might actually be turning off voters?

by Anonymousreply 130June 28, 2024 2:13 AM

R115, thank you!!!! I did not know that, or I forgot it.

by Anonymousreply 131June 28, 2024 2:13 AM

Biden says Trump was worst president in history and moderator says, “Let’s talk about child care.” This Ian really a debate - more like a joint press conference.

by Anonymousreply 132June 28, 2024 2:13 AM

Of course the media will make Biden's poor debate performance a much bigger deal than Trump's 34 felony convictions. We live in crazy times.

by Anonymousreply 133June 28, 2024 2:13 AM

"He's the worst president in the history of our country!"

Every Dump accusation is a confession.

by Anonymousreply 134June 28, 2024 2:13 AM

I like how CNN has the question asked of Trump - re child care - was noted at the bottom of the screen while Trump talked about something completely unrelated.

by Anonymousreply 135June 28, 2024 2:14 AM

Trump's making faces like a four year old.

by Anonymousreply 136June 28, 2024 2:14 AM

by Anonymousreply 137June 28, 2024 2:14 AM

He's the worst!

No! HE'S the worst!

No, he's the worst EVER!

by Anonymousreply 138June 28, 2024 2:14 AM

R126, the Dems have a huge bench of talent. In fact, that’s why there is so much frustration. We have others who can beat this mother fucker.

by Anonymousreply 139June 28, 2024 2:14 AM

finally laughing at the dumb fuck. good.

by Anonymousreply 140June 28, 2024 2:14 AM

The irony: Trump doesn't even want to go back to Washington. He wouldn't be running without the money flowing in. The Trumps aren't even trying to sell things anymore. Why? Just sit back and let the cash pour over you.

by Anonymousreply 141June 28, 2024 2:15 AM

Trump's tax cuts caused $4 trillion of his $8 trillion increased debt

by Anonymousreply 142June 28, 2024 2:15 AM

Michelle Obama can GTH. She is very full of herself. I suppose her refusal to campaign for her Party's incumbent is "going high."

But then, her husband is no Joe fan, either. Never was, or he never would have gone over him and supported HRC.

by Anonymousreply 143June 28, 2024 2:15 AM

Dems have no one unless you mean the antisemetic Squad.

by Anonymousreply 144June 28, 2024 2:16 AM

But only one who has, r139. Only one who has.

by Anonymousreply 145June 28, 2024 2:16 AM

I once worked for an older politician. He could get very stubborn about his schedule. Joe is showing all the symptoms of someone who is overtired. He should fire his scheduler because he knew this event was coming and was important, but he thought he could just fly in to Atlanta at the last minute, go outside and shake hands a pose, and then hit the stage. He has been flying all over the place since June 6th. In and out of the country twice, then all these domestic trips as well as trying to run the country. He should have paced himself. He should have been fresh, and rested. His voice is gone. He was at 80% on the facts, but his voice was too fragile. Trump in presentation and terrible on content. He lies. He lies. The main thing to remember is he will say anything to get elected. Anything. His sole purpose is to be POTUS to shield himself from prosecution. To give out pardons. He is filth. Tapper asks him what he would do and he pulls stuff out of his ass. It doesn't matter. He just lies. It is outrageous that a convicted felon can run for PResident as if it doesn't matter.

by Anonymousreply 274June 28, 2024 2:36 AM

Michael Bender, NYT:

Tight debate rules are spotlighting Biden’s stumbles.

Donald J. Trump appeared to gain an edge during his first debate with President Biden on Thursday thanks to a restrictive set of rules that barred the kind of interruptions that tripped up the former president four years ago and, in turn, shined a spotlight on the incumbent’s frequent stumbles.

The two men agreed to a set of rules that allowed CNN, the debate’s host, to mute their microphone when it was not their turn to speak. Mr. Biden’s team requested that rule to guard against Mr. Trump’s affinity for talking over his debate opponents.

But Mr. Trump was clearly prepared to operate within those guardrails.

As Mr. Biden fielded the opening question, Mr. Trump remained silent behind his lectern for the full two minutes of his opponent’s answer. When it was his turn to respond, Mr. Trump spoke in a steady and deliberately measured voice.

A few minutes later, Mr. Trump’s restraint was apparent when Mr. Biden jabbed at him over the number of troops who died on his watch.

“The truth is, I’m the only president this century that doesn’t have any — this decade — that doesn’t have any troops dying anywhere in the world like he did,” Mr. Biden said.

Instead of shouting or interrupting, Mr. Trump puckered his lips and waited until Mr. Biden finished.

“Am I allowed to respond to him? Mr. Trump asked the moderators.

Jake Tapper, a CNN anchor and debate moderator, said he would be able to do so during a follow-up.

With the former president restricted from interrupting, Mr. Biden’s stumbles were on particularly vivid display.

Making his case for a tax increase on the wealthiest Americans, Mr. Biden trailed off and appeared to lose his train of thought.

“We’d be able wipe out his debt,” Mr. Biden said, describing how tax increases on the wealthy would increase federal revenue. “We’d be able to help make sure that all those things we need to do — child care, elder care, making sure that we continue to strengthen our health care system, making sure that we’re able to make every single solitary person eligible for what I’ve been able to do with the uh, Covid, excuse me, with dealing with everything we’ve had to do with, uh — look, if — we finally beat Medicare.”

Mr. Trump waited patiently for his mic to be turned on, and then pounced.

“Well, he’s right he did beat Medicare — he beat it to death,” Mr. Trump said. “So he was right in the way he finished that sentence. And it’s a shame.”

I like Joe and think he’s been a good president, but this debate didn’t him any favors.

Let’s all hope this goes away soon and come November he sweeps it, or we’re all fucked

by Anonymousreply 303June 28, 2024 2:40 AM

Biden lost the election tonight. Fuck. There will be no second debate, as Trump doesn't need one

by Anonymousreply 304June 28, 2024 2:40 AM

Just a whimsy, at this sad moment: think what Gavin Newsom would have done with the bombastic lying Trump.

by Anonymousreply 305June 28, 2024 2:40 AM

Four years ago this week when Trump was President 6,000 new confirmed covid deaths in the past week brought the total to over 124,000 confirmed deaths in the US.* The unemployment rate was 11% and there were 18 million people unemployed. Trump left office with fewer people employed than when he came into office.

by Anonymousreply 310June 28, 2024 2:42 AM

All of those predictions about Trump wanting to call it off were nonsense. The man loves any opportunity for attention, so that was obvious to anyone with a brain, but apparently he actually has more stamina than people thought too. And I missed 95% of the debate, but it sounds like it was a rough night for Biden. I thought it was a good move for Biden to offer this debate and a bad move for Trump to accept, but oh well.

by Anonymousreply 311June 28, 2024 2:42 AM

I think you're going to see Democratic donors directing their money to House and Senate candidates now. That's what we have to focus on going forward. Democratic candidates are outperforming Biden's poll numbers anyway, so it's a smart strategy.

by Anonymousreply 312June 28, 2024 2:42 AM

Well, it’s finally over, Bitches!

Please don’t fret… JUST VOTE FOR BIDEN!

by Anonymousreply 313June 28, 2024 2:43 AM

No one's going to remember Trump's verbal nonsense. They're not going to remember that he lied constantly, or invented ludicrous bullshit.

They're going to remember that he said it with energy and conviction, and Joe Biden couldn't measure up.

Humans are almost hard-wired to be drawn to loud garbage over sober reality. Look at their TV viewing habits. Look at their support for Hitler and Dane Cook.

Biden will be asked to step down.

My God...are you watching CNN and MSNBC? They are in despair.

by Anonymousreply 320June 28, 2024 2:46 AM

Today was an example why Democrats need to stop blocking out opposing news sources and believing that whatever the right says is a total fabrication. Same goes for excoriating left-wing journos who raised alarms about Biden fitness. Sometimes the right smells blood and goes for our weaknesses.

by Anonymousreply 328June 28, 2024 2:48 AM

Who cares who is the president? We must vote our self interests. And that is Biden. Trump's wife wasn't even present. That woman loathes him, and could see he's a phony. Trump is running to avoid going to jail. Biden has a done a good job. We're a week away from the 4th of July, no one but us nerds is really paying attention. Trump turned off moderates by his boisterous attitude that they've hated from day 1. Old voters don't want ppl poking at Biden saying he's too old for the job. They see that as bullying

by Anonymousreply 329June 28, 2024 2:48 AM

Jonathan Karl on ABC said Democrats on Capitol Hill are wishing Biden had debated like this during the primaries and then there would have been a different nominee. I said at the time that it was a mistake that the DNC and Biden campaign were preventing primary debates. Of course, there were people on DL who scoffed at the notion.

by Anonymousreply 330June 28, 2024 2:49 AM

Biden will have to step down now. It could actually be a really good thing for Democrats. The convention would be riveting TV if that happens. There would be so much excitement to see who gets the nomination. The convention would get amazing ratings if they have to pick a new candidate. Democrats and young people would be energized again. Maybe tonight needed to happen so Democrats could finally come to grips about Biden.

by Anonymousreply 342June 28, 2024 2:52 AM

Joe Biden did come across as old, perhaps because he IS. But he looks well-scrubbed and pleasant, and like he could probably finish the crossword if he starts it by 10AM. DJT is such a fat greasy fuck, like assaulting 20 year-old young women backstage in Atlantic City is still his most cherished memory.

Or from social media. By tomorrow, social media will be full of "Sleepy Joe" videos from tonight's debate (some of which will be altered to make Biden look even worse). None of the substance of the debate will be remembered. It will be remembered as the debate that proved Biden is tired and feeble.

by Anonymousreply 363June 28, 2024 2:57 AM

What is so bad about Newsom?

by Anonymousreply 364June 28, 2024 2:57 AM

well, it's time for the artists of spin to earn their keep. That could've gone better, but it doesn't matter. Time to pound the message of Trump sucking over and over and over into the ground. It's the only way. Biden needs to wake the fuck up, with whatever medication is necessary and get out there. And go as low as possible, no more, well, anything that advisors are advising.

It is the Democratic instinct to give up, constantly, and always in advance. We are going to have to resist that instinct, for the sake of the country.

Andy Beshear or Gretchen Whitmer could easily be nominated at the convention and defeat Trump.

Kamala Harris is the most important figure in all of this. She has to be the one to convince Biden to step down. She also needs to realize that she could not beat Trump in November, and step aside. But would she do that? It's no secret that she and Biden aren't exactly best buddies.

by Anonymousreply 398June 28, 2024 3:05 AM

Biden was asked after how he thought he did at the debate, and he said that he was really looking forward to it.

by Anonymousreply 440June 28, 2024 3:15 AM

Alternate Universe Joe, to any and all questions tonight:

"I could cite facts, figures, and statistics about the accomplishments of my Administration, but I know you and Mr. Trump can look them all up. You want to know, deserve to know, what Mr. Trump and I plan to help you, especially the Middle Class.

I plan to lower even more prescription medication prices through the Biden bill we passed. I plan to keep improving your roads, highways, and bridges through my Infrastructure bill. I plan to forgive more crushing student-loan debt, through my directive.

I plan to keep defending the peace of post-World War 2 Europe, the peace that our Greatest Generation fought so valiantly to win back from the Nazis, to remain in NATO, and to aid the brave Ukrainians in the war with the invading Russians.

I plan to support Israel in its fight against terrorism, because terrorism is the scourge of the Free World. But I will also work with the legitimate leadership of the Palestinians to effect a peaceful resolution to their plight.

Yes, I plan to raise taxes, but here's the part you need to hear clearly: Only on Americans making $400,000 a year or more. Now, that might be some of you listening tonight. If so, I'm counting on you to see the fairness of this proposal.

Am I old? Well, 81 isn't young! My opponent is 78, not young either. We are both experienced Presidents now.

We have records to compare.

I'm hoping you do. Don't take our words for it."

by Anonymousreply 441June 28, 2024 3:16 AM

True, r434. There's this very odd love of despair in the Democratic Party. it's a stupid indulgence and people should stop indulging themselves in it.

by Anonymousreply 442June 28, 2024 3:16 AM

President Biden is a good man, excellent president and someone I trust. It pains me to say that he came across as old and unhealthy at the debate. That matters to people.

by Anonymousreply 449June 28, 2024 3:18 AM
Biden will only be replaced if he withdraws, he has the nomination locked up, it is his if he wants it. There is no process to force him out.

There's an out if the so-called "superdelegates" vote for another candidate:

Automatic delegates are unpledged delegates to the Democratic National Convention. Automatic delegates, who are often called superdelegates, are not required to pledge their support to any presidential candidate. Automatic delegates include members of the Democratic National Committee, Democratic members of Congress, Democratic governors, or distinguished party leaders, including former presidents and vice presidents. They are free to support any presidential candidate of their choosing.

Trump runs away with the betting market ! BETTING MARKET NOW OWNED BY TRUMP

Screenshots taken from the political betting site PredictIt right before the debate indicated that the price of a “share” predicting that Trump would retake the presidency was 53 cents and the price of a Biden “share” was 48 cents, suggesting that the market only slightly favored the former. (A share cashes out at $1.00 if the candidate wins the election.)

But now Trump’s shares have shot up to 61 cents as of 10:10 p.m. ET, while Biden’s have plummeted to 38 cents.

R560, our former prez Dump could barely shuffle down a ramp. Fuck outta here, cunt.

by Anonymousreply 566June 28, 2024 4:01 AM

R388:/Torta is that really you?

Where have you been?

by Anonymousreply 567June 28, 2024 4:03 AM

They would keep Kamala in the VP position and put someone else at the top of the ticket. Everybody knows that she can't beat Trump.

I love these cunts. Die, everyone just kill yourself. It's all over man, game over, everybody kill yourself, it's done!

Oh, shit, I am cracking up at the crazed and stupid despair of the sad cunts all over this thread. You make me laugh, so much. thanks for that.

And yet, r562, I have a 93-year-old relative that is way more alert than this. Way more. She walks every day and can debate politics as well as she could 20 years ago. It's what usually happens at a certain point if something doesn't take you out first, you're right, but the age it can happen at varies dramatically.
Trump speaks lies proudly.

Proudly of what, R3? Being a felon?

by Anonymousreply 573June 28, 2024 4:05 AM

Kamala was solid on MSNBC just now. A pleasant surprise.

by Anonymousreply 574June 28, 2024 4:05 AM

She wasn’t in that clip with Anderson

by Anonymousreply 575June 28, 2024 4:07 AM

And if Biden were more energetic than everyone would say he was on drugs - and no one in the media would counter this.

No matter what he does, he can’t win.

It’s not like Trump - who likely is drugged up - can run a marathon or something. He can’t even hold a glass of water with one hand and is often unsteady on his feet. It’s easy for him to talk a total stream of uninterrupted bullshit - and everybody thinks this is impressive?

Ultimately, you get the leadership you deserve.

by Anonymousreply 576June 28, 2024 4:07 AM

When Trump was POTUS I didn't feel safe one day of his term. I don't want to go back to that.

by Anonymousreply 577June 28, 2024 4:07 AM

Democratic source on MsNBC “Biden had one job to do tonight, and he didn’t do it”

by Anonymousreply 578June 28, 2024 4:08 AM

But did anything happen to you while he was president? Just you being nuts.

by Anonymousreply 579June 28, 2024 4:09 AM

Gretchen Whitmer just won re-election two years ago by a bigger margin than the first time she was elected. She is the popular governor of a must-win state. The person who keeps trying to trash her chances doesn't know what he's talking about. Republicans are terrified of her.

by Anonymousreply 580June 28, 2024 4:09 AM

R568 you don’t know how it works, huh? If Biden wins again and something happens to him, Kamala takes over.

by Anonymousreply 581June 28, 2024 4:09 AM

R580 that’s different. That job is for a state. Not for the whole country. A woman isn’t winning. That’s reality.

by Anonymousreply 582June 28, 2024 4:11 AM

R581, I know that, ding dong! I'm talking about if Biden steps down before the convention.

by Anonymousreply 583June 28, 2024 4:12 AM

My grandmother was very alert and sharp up into her late 80s. Shortly before 90th birthday, she started to decline and was diagnosed with dementia. She died six years later. In the year before my grandmother's death, a close friend's father was diagnosed with dementia at 59 and my friend moved into his parents' house to help care for his father. . My friend's fathe had other health issues and died two years later.

Former Senator Claire McCaskill is stating hard facts!

Honestly, Vice President Kamala Harris would be a better candidate but unfortunately, the majority of white Americans, and some Americans of color, including some of you DL ass whipes, would not vote for her.

by Anonymousreply 585June 28, 2024 4:13 AM

A stroll down the road is not being president. Joe would have zero difficulty with the activities you describe your relatives doing. You are making a false equivalency.

by Anonymousreply 586June 28, 2024 4:14 AM

‘You Can’t Come Back From That’:

CNN’s Chris Wallace Declares That Biden ‘Wasn’t Capable of Doing Any Better’

And that's after a WEEK of prep and doctors.

by Anonymousreply 587June 28, 2024 4:14 AM

So Biden did so poorly and Trump so well, that the large segment of the population who've already decided who they would vote for before the debate are going to suddenly change the candidate they are supporting and the entire race is now a foregone conclusion. Trump just won the election tonight and nothing can stop his landslide victory in November. Tonight was THAT consequential. Does that really make any sense or should we calm the fuck down with the apocalyptic predictions?

by Anonymousreply 588June 28, 2024 4:16 AM

It's elder abuse!!!

by Anonymousreply 589June 28, 2024 4:16 AM

r586, I wasn't making an equivalency, exactly. I was making a point that the mind goes at vastly different times. And yes, Biden would struggle debating the way this relative does. I can tell that from the way Biden performs on a regular basis. (And I only mentioned one relative, singular.) But yes, the Presidency is more demanding than a stroll down the road. But not the point.

by Anonymousreply 590June 28, 2024 4:18 AM

R579 I hear you loud and clear, Boris.

by Anonymousreply 591June 28, 2024 4:19 AM

The fact is that it's still a toss up. This might change 1% of independents going for Trump but that fact is that it is not a huge game changer.

by Anonymousreply 592June 28, 2024 4:19 AM

I like Gretchen Whitmer and I respected her after she revealed in the recent NYT interview that she was a wild rebellious teenager and she didn't become ambitious until she went to law school. Not many people own up to their screw ups of their youth. That said, she wouldn't be able to defeat Trump in a presidential race.

by Anonymousreply 593June 28, 2024 4:19 AM

Keep calling people Boris. it's been so productive.

by Anonymousreply 594June 28, 2024 4:20 AM
Does that really make any sense or should we calm the fuck down with the apocalyptic predictions?

the problem is that he was already losing before this "debate." If he can't will a war of words with the king of unhinged word salads then he needs to get out of the way.

by Anonymousreply 595June 28, 2024 4:20 AM

Go ahead with the apocalyptic predictions. It's safe since Datalounge predictions never come true.

by Anonymousreply 596June 28, 2024 4:20 AM

Where's the "Mighty Joe Biden" thread maker now?

by Anonymousreply 597June 28, 2024 4:20 AM

For those of you who think Newsom, think again. His record in California is dismal. People are leaving California faster than they left the Titanic.

by Anonymousreply 598June 28, 2024 4:21 AM

R592 even liberal media polls show Trump has been leading Biden for a while now. This may push Trump a little further in the lead

by Anonymousreply 599June 28, 2024 4:22 AM

R598 only an idiot thinks Newsom has a chance. He’s been blamed for California falling apart for years now. Most of the country won’t vote for him

by Anonymousreply 600June 28, 2024 4:22 AM

Of course Biden would be a better choice than Trump. That's a given. But after tonight, we can no longer ignore the fact that Biden should retire and let a younger and more able candidate take his place. It's the right thing for the country at this critical moment in our history.....and it's the right thing for Biden.

by Anonymousreply 601June 28, 2024 4:23 AM

Trump was right in that when Putin and Iran and China and North Korea see Biden in this mental state, they’re likely to see a weakened USA.

by Anonymousreply 603June 28, 2024 4:24 AM

Newsom is too smug and condescending.

by Anonymousreply 604June 28, 2024 4:25 AM

So, tonight demonstrated that Trump CAN keep quiet and stick to rules when he needs to. Doesn't that ability to control himself make him an even bigger asshole than before? (Not saying how it will be viewed by the public, just commenting. )

by Anonymousreply 605June 28, 2024 4:25 AM

So. Only ONE topic, ONE story, ONE "take-away" from tonight. So it appears. "PANIC!"

Not any of Trump's lies. Or his golf posturings.

Trump could even have spoken all about those sharks and sinking electric boats and waterless showers and loser soldiers and jobs for "the Blacks" (oh, wait....), and NONE OF IT WOULD BE MENTIONED.

Just ONE story, people. If there's a Debate #2 and Joe is and sounds more alert, it won't matter. Trump has conditioned voters to think "drugs."

Moreover, though Dana said "former President Trump," Jake Tapper kept using "President Trump," as though he, Trump, were the Incumbent.
