Did the Nazis come out of a field or a forest?
by Anonymous | reply 2 | June 28, 2024 1:54 AM |
Trump speaks lies proudly.
Biden speaks truth weakly.
by Anonymous | reply 3 | June 28, 2024 1:54 AM |
In 15 years, that has never gone so fast. No one had time to post a second to part two!
by Anonymous | reply 4 | June 28, 2024 1:54 AM |
Please someone give Joe a shot of vitamin b12 during the break
by Anonymous | reply 5 | June 28, 2024 1:55 AM |
Where is Amy Klobuchar.....we need her!
by Anonymous | reply 6 | June 28, 2024 1:55 AM |
Will we find each other?
by Anonymous | reply 7 | June 28, 2024 1:55 AM |
I may stroke out
by Anonymous | reply 8 | June 28, 2024 1:55 AM |
I think I'm over my first impression of Biden's comatose behavior. I'm able to overlook the weak voice and concentrate on what he's saying. I actually think he's loosening up because Trump is pissing him off.
by Anonymous | reply 9 | June 28, 2024 1:55 AM |
by Anonymous | reply 10 | June 28, 2024 1:55 AM |
I don't think this debate will sway voters. The majority hates Trump.

by Anonymous | reply 12 | June 28, 2024 1:55 AM |
I am so shocked by Joseph’s performance. It’s devastating.
by Anonymous | reply 13 | June 28, 2024 1:55 AM |
This torture watching this. I’d turn it off, but my partner wants to watch it to the end
by Anonymous | reply 14 | June 28, 2024 1:56 AM |
I think Joe's recovering. First part was not good, but no, not devastating.
by Anonymous | reply 15 | June 28, 2024 1:56 AM |
Is it possible Biden had a stroke and no one told us?
by Anonymous | reply 16 | June 28, 2024 1:56 AM |
Someone very famous needs to die tonight and take the focus off the debate. Oprah or Jimmy Carter.. Not wishing them ill but…
by Anonymous | reply 17 | June 28, 2024 1:56 AM |
On Twitter you can really see who the fanatics (or paid shills) are. They are trying to say that Dark Brandon is taking Trump down. It's like seeing a Goebbels broadcast.
by Anonymous | reply 18 | June 28, 2024 1:57 AM |
Ooh, oooh, wait -- "Nobody has done more for the blacks than I have. Black people love me!" -- Dump
by Anonymous | reply 19 | June 28, 2024 1:57 AM |
Joe needs to go home. And the Dems better come up with someone who can win.
by Anonymous | reply 20 | June 28, 2024 1:57 AM |
R3 nailed it
by Anonymous | reply 21 | June 28, 2024 1:57 AM |
Someone very famous needs to die tonight and take the focus off the debate.
I nominate Trump to die.
by Anonymous | reply 22 | June 28, 2024 1:57 AM |
R19, did he really say that? I can’t watch.
by Anonymous | reply 23 | June 28, 2024 1:57 AM |
They don't, R11. It's presently [italic]a tie [/italic] between a convicted felon and a doddering fool.
Stop seeing it as you wish and instead as it is. Becayuse it's really fucking bad. The narrative tomorrow is rambling Biden.
by Anonymous | reply 24 | June 28, 2024 1:57 AM |
We are doomed.
by Anonymous | reply 25 | June 28, 2024 1:58 AM |
R21 He did that in 2016 and Hillary's jaw fell open on camera.
He actually said "THE BLACKS" on national TV.
by Anonymous | reply 26 | June 28, 2024 1:58 AM |
I hope someone is preparing hot tea with honey for Joe for during the break and a Red Bull chaser.
by Anonymous | reply 27 | June 28, 2024 1:58 AM |
Joe didn't need any rehearsing with facts and figures.
He needed ACTING LESSONS. Stride, don't shuffle. Backbone straight. No squinting. Keep mouth closed. Project voice. Don't look down.
by Anonymous | reply 28 | June 28, 2024 1:58 AM |
R22 Oh, pleeeeez, let this happen.
by Anonymous | reply 29 | June 28, 2024 1:58 AM |
Just hope Trump snorts something during the break.
by Anonymous | reply 30 | June 28, 2024 1:58 AM |
He needs to close his mouth when he's listening to Trump.
by Anonymous | reply 31 | June 28, 2024 1:58 AM |
Biden. Seriously? Generations will look back on this and ask what the fuck were Democrats thinking?
by Anonymous | reply 32 | June 28, 2024 1:59 AM |
I would have preferred ABC to carry this debate, George Stephanopoulos wouldn't have taken any shit from Trump.
by Anonymous | reply 34 | June 28, 2024 1:59 AM |
BLACK JOBS!!!!
by Anonymous | reply 35 | June 28, 2024 1:59 AM |
Politicians aren’t going to save us. We have to save ourselves. And NO, I reject all forms of violence. But we need a peaceful revolution against our kleptocratic system.

Elder abuse is a real thing.
by Anonymous | reply 39 | June 28, 2024 1:59 AM |
Considering how Trump handled Covid I am glad he wasn't here to handle inflation, and inflation hit the entire world. Coming out of Covid caused inflation
by Anonymous | reply 40 | June 28, 2024 1:59 AM |
What the fuck's a "black job"?
by Anonymous | reply 42 | June 28, 2024 2:00 AM |
Side note but if a woman (e.g. Hillary) was in the same position as Joe and her performance was this bad she would have been removed as the nominee a long time ago.
by Anonymous | reply 43 | June 28, 2024 2:00 AM |
I second the nomination R22.
by Anonymous | reply 44 | June 28, 2024 2:00 AM |
WHAT ARE BLACK JOBS???
by Anonymous | reply 45 | June 28, 2024 2:00 AM |
Immigrants are "taking Black jobs"?? WTH IS THAT SUPPOSED TO MEAN, Joe did not ask.
by Anonymous | reply 46 | June 28, 2024 2:00 AM |
True question. First thread is closed, AND YET, posts continue to appear. Is there a magic trick one of you old-timers can share? We need this link posted there if possible.

I suppose now we know why Garland desperately doesn't want to release the Robert Hur recordings of Biden's responses.
by Anonymous | reply 51 | June 28, 2024 2:01 AM |
R15, but I think people have check out and are watching something else...
by Anonymous | reply 52 | June 28, 2024 2:01 AM |
Oh that black jobs remark will bite him in his fat ass.
by Anonymous | reply 53 | June 28, 2024 2:01 AM |
I bet Tapper and Bash slammed back a couple of shots during the break. This is like something out of "Network," but it's real.
by Anonymous | reply 54 | June 28, 2024 2:01 AM |
Nobody told Joe to CLOSE HIS OLD MAN PIE-HOLE!

by Anonymous | reply 62 | June 28, 2024 2:03 AM |
"Black jobs are the ones you'd expect. Cleaning toilets, driving city buses, and stealing car stereos!"
by Anonymous | reply 64 | June 28, 2024 2:03 AM |
I’d rather have an embalmed Biden as president than a living Trump. Neither one of these two geriatrics is actually going to “lead” the country, their inner circle will. I’d prefer more of the same than Project 2025.
by Anonymous | reply 65 | June 28, 2024 2:04 AM |
He keeps saying he had the best this/that numbers, and never cites any sources.

by Anonymous | reply 67 | June 28, 2024 2:04 AM |
Joe should bring up the n-word flying around the Apprentice set. But of course, he won't because that would be a "low blow"
Did you hear the part where Joe said Trump had sex with a porn star while his wife was having a baby? I don't think he's worried about the level of the blows.
by Anonymous | reply 68 | June 28, 2024 2:04 AM |
The debate moderators are just letting Trump lie with impunity. They're just sitting there like lumps on a log. A dead cat could moderate better. The result is CNN is basically hosting a Trump rally. IT's fucking irresponsible.
by Anonymous | reply 69 | June 28, 2024 2:04 AM |
'"The best environmental numbers ever!"
Poor Daniel Dale, he has to document all of Trump's lies for the CNN after show.

by Anonymous | reply 72 | June 28, 2024 2:04 AM |
Well, tomorrow the Supreme Court will announce that Trump is NOT immune from all crimes. This will remove the taste of this debate from our mouths. Or so we can hope. The shelf-life of news cycles is so very short now.
I am a Biden supporter, given $1200 to his campaign this time around. And I see a man pretty incapable of stating the case as to 1) what he has done, and 2) what he is going to do. It's so much worse than I feared might be possible. Point by point Trump lies and wins the argument.
by Anonymous | reply 73 | June 28, 2024 2:05 AM |
Trump - MIGRANTS BAD! That's all he's got.
by Anonymous | reply 74 | June 28, 2024 2:05 AM |
People forget that we are also voting for the Administration and those who come with it....
by Anonymous | reply 75 | June 28, 2024 2:05 AM |
Why isn’t Biden going after the Repubs agreeing to a border closure!?
by Anonymous | reply 76 | June 28, 2024 2:05 AM |
well, the plan CAN'T be, CNN will note all the lies. No, honestly, that really is Joe's job here. Call him a liar, but effectively. And relentlessly.
by Anonymous | reply 77 | June 28, 2024 2:05 AM |
No one will remember this debate come November
by Anonymous | reply 78 | June 28, 2024 2:06 AM |
Poor Daniel Dale, he has to document all of Trump's lies for the CNN after show.
If Trump told only a few falsehoods, it would be big news. If he tells a lot, the noise of it all will cancel the effect.
I don't think this debate will sway voters. The majority hates Trump.
That’s why Trump is leading in the polls and blowing Biden out of the water in state after state. Trump is now expected to win in a landslide thanks to the electoral college. Wake up and stop living in an echo chamber.
by Anonymous | reply 81 | June 28, 2024 2:06 AM |
It's not the moderators' job to fact check. This is a debate, not an interview. It's the opponent's job.
by Anonymous | reply 82 | June 28, 2024 2:06 AM |
Dump does sound like a raving, paranoid bigot, with "the migrants, the migrants, the migrants".
by Anonymous | reply 83 | June 28, 2024 2:06 AM |
R75 And that is exactly the argument Biden should be making. And is not.
by Anonymous | reply 84 | June 28, 2024 2:06 AM |
Donald always speaks in the superlative.
"The BEST! The RICHEST! The WORST! The YUMMIEST!"
Someone probably taught him in childhood that if you don't have facts on your side, you can still sound smart by declaring shit the best or the worst.

You expect the WSJ to come out and say corporations were using “supply chain difficulties “ and Covid excuses to hike up their prices so they could have record profits? Inflation? No, greed.

I, too, have contributed to the campaign, but Joe has never been able to use the bully pulpit of his office. A major failing.
by Anonymous | reply 96 | June 28, 2024 2:07 AM |
There’s no inflation. That’s a lie.
by Anonymous | reply 97 | June 28, 2024 2:07 AM |

In Cali, black construction workers had excellent paying jobs but were replaced by immigrants. There are many industries which have been devalued by immigrants, but in reference to his "black jobs" comment, there were certain niches that were populated by black people.
by Anonymous | reply 99 | June 28, 2024 2:08 AM |
Joe's voice is a bit raspy and weaker than normal tonight. I've seen him talk numerous times in recent weeks and tonight he sounds almost meek. Perhaps he was talking too much during his prep that his voice was affected?
by Anonymous | reply 100 | June 28, 2024 2:08 AM |

It's clear that Trump thinks immigration is a winner for him.

R105, She considers that news? Who would've imagined otherwise?
by Anonymous | reply 116 | June 28, 2024 2:10 AM |
Liberals have just woken up to immigration. Now it’s a problem since it ended up on their doorstep. Even Cher was complaining about it.
by Anonymous | reply 117 | June 28, 2024 2:11 AM |
I imagine how a Joaquin Castro, Elizabeth Warren or Cory Booker could slice 'n dice Trump on live TV.
by Anonymous | reply 118 | June 28, 2024 2:11 AM |
I think someone beat you to it, R114.
by Anonymous | reply 119 | June 28, 2024 2:11 AM |
Dump is taking advice and talking points from an actual wannabe-nazi (Stephen Miller). That should be enough to vote for anybody but him.
by Anonymous | reply 120 | June 28, 2024 2:11 AM |
damn, this is another opening. You constantly hire people and say they are awesome and then fire them a little later cause you say they suck.
SAY THAT.
by Anonymous | reply 121 | June 28, 2024 2:11 AM |
Biden better say “I don’t fire people because I hire the right people, unlike you.”

More Zolan Kanno-Youngs:
Democrats are starting to react to the debate. Compared to the State of the Union and on the campaign trail, I’m wondering if they did too much debate prep. There’s very little range. Him being hoarse is hurting his performance.”

Yeah I do know what I'm talking about, R112. Quit sucking Newsom's balls.

Does anyone really believe that our country is destroyed?
by Anonymous | reply 125 | June 28, 2024 2:12 AM |
I’ll always vote for the Democratic candidate, and I do like Joe, but why oh why, haven’t the Dems been grooming someone younger, more dynamic to be the candidate? It’s too late now for Joe to step down, and now I think anyone who was maybe on the fence but can’t stomach voting for Trump will just stay home and not vote.
by Anonymous | reply 126 | June 28, 2024 2:13 AM |
Number one, number two. God I need a Looney Tunes cartoon right now. This is worse than I ever imagined. Trump is a fucking idiot and Joe is pretty much dead. I need paper cuts in the web of my toes. Ouch, mommy

Biden says Trump was worst president in history and moderator says, “Let’s talk about child care.” This Ian really a debate - more like a joint press conference.
by Anonymous | reply 132 | June 28, 2024 2:13 AM |
Of course the media will make Biden's poor debate performance a much bigger deal than Trump's 34 felony convictions. We live in crazy times.

He should fire his scheduler because he knew this event was coming and was important, but he thought he could just fly in to Atlanta at the last minute, go outside and shake hands a pose, and then hit the stage. He has been flying all over the place since June 6th. In and out of the country twice, then all these domestic trips as well as trying to run the country. He should have paced himself. He should have been fresh, and rested. His voice is gone. He was at 80% on the facts, but his voice was too fragile. Trump in presentation and terrible on content. He lies. He lies. The main thing to remember is he will say anything to get elected. Anything. His sole purpose is to be POTUS to shield himself from prosecution. To give out pardons. He is filth. Tapper asks him what he would do and he pulls stuff out of his ass. It doesn't matter. He just lies. It is outrageous that a convicted felon can run for PResident as if it doesn't matter.

Michael Bender, NYT:
Tight debate rules are spotlighting Biden’s stumbles.
Donald J. Trump appeared to gain an edge during his first debate with President Biden on Thursday thanks to a restrictive set of rules that barred the kind of interruptions that tripped up the former president four years ago and, in turn, shined a spotlight on the incumbent’s frequent stumbles.
The two men agreed to a set of rules that allowed CNN, the debate’s host, to mute their microphone when it was not their turn to speak. Mr. Biden’s team requested that rule to guard against Mr. Trump’s affinity for talking over his debate opponents.
But Mr. Trump was clearly prepared to operate within those guardrails.
As Mr. Biden fielded the opening question, Mr. Trump remained silent behind his lectern for the full two minutes of his opponent’s answer. When it was his turn to respond, Mr. Trump spoke in a steady and deliberately measured voice.
A few minutes later, Mr. Trump’s restraint was apparent when Mr. Biden jabbed at him over the number of troops who died on his watch.
“The truth is, I’m the only president this century that doesn’t have any — this decade — that doesn’t have any troops dying anywhere in the world like he did,” Mr. Biden said.
Instead of shouting or interrupting, Mr. Trump puckered his lips and waited until Mr. Biden finished.
“Am I allowed to respond to him? Mr. Trump asked the moderators.
Jake Tapper, a CNN anchor and debate moderator, said he would be able to do so during a follow-up.
With the former president restricted from interrupting, Mr. Biden’s stumbles were on particularly vivid display.
Making his case for a tax increase on the wealthiest Americans, Mr. Biden trailed off and appeared to lose his train of thought.
“We’d be able wipe out his debt,” Mr. Biden said, describing how tax increases on the wealthy would increase federal revenue. “We’d be able to help make sure that all those things we need to do — child care, elder care, making sure that we continue to strengthen our health care system, making sure that we’re able to make every single solitary person eligible for what I’ve been able to do with the uh, Covid, excuse me, with dealing with everything we’ve had to do with, uh — look, if — we finally beat Medicare.”
Mr. Trump waited patiently for his mic to be turned on, and then pounced.
“Well, he’s right he did beat Medicare — he beat it to death,” Mr. Trump said. “So he was right in the way he finished that sentence. And it’s a shame.”

Alternate Universe Joe, to any and all questions tonight:
"I could cite facts, figures, and statistics about the accomplishments of my Administration, but I know you and Mr. Trump can look them all up. You want to know, deserve to know, what Mr. Trump and I plan to help you, especially the Middle Class.
I plan to lower even more prescription medication prices through the Biden bill we passed. I plan to keep improving your roads, highways, and bridges through my Infrastructure bill. I plan to forgive more crushing student-loan debt, through my directive.
I plan to keep defending the peace of post-World War 2 Europe, the peace that our Greatest Generation fought so valiantly to win back from the Nazis, to remain in NATO, and to aid the brave Ukrainians in the war with the invading Russians.
I plan to support Israel in its fight against terrorism, because terrorism is the scourge of the Free World. But I will also work with the legitimate leadership of the Palestinians to effect a peaceful resolution to their plight.
Yes, I plan to raise taxes, but here's the part you need to hear clearly: Only on Americans making $400,000 a year or more. Now, that might be some of you listening tonight. If so, I'm counting on you to see the fairness of this proposal.
Am I old? Well, 81 isn't young! My opponent is 78, not young either. We are both experienced Presidents now.
We have records to compare.
I'm hoping you do. Don't take our words for it."

There's an out if the so-called "superdelegates" vote for another candidate:
Automatic delegates are unpledged delegates to the Democratic National Convention. Automatic delegates, who are often called superdelegates, are not required to pledge their support to any presidential candidate. Automatic delegates include members of the Democratic National Committee, Democratic members of Congress, Democratic governors, or distinguished party leaders, including former presidents and vice presidents. They are free to support any presidential candidate of their choosing.

Screenshots taken from the political betting site PredictIt right before the debate indicated that the price of a “share” predicting that Trump would retake the presidency was 53 cents and the price of a Biden “share” was 48 cents, suggesting that the market only slightly favored the former. (A share cashes out at $1.00 if the candidate wins the election.)

I honestly think that Jill and his family will convince him to step down. It's clear as day to everyone that he can't do this for another 4 years.
Democrats have several fantastic candidates that can step in right now and defeat Trump. I think Democrats would be completely energized to find another candidate that they can really get behind.

So, I just realized...No one seems to want Kamala as his replacement out of electability concerns, but the fact she is the VP means that skipping over her would lead to the whole "You'r5e sexist, racist" shit that would tear the Democratic party in two. OK, yeah, I think this moment is more difficult for the Democrats than I realized.

Trump has no family members to greet him. Not even his Eastern European catalog wife. Gosh, give her an extra 200 bucks to escort to the podium

A group of Democrat congressmen were said to now be discussing the need for a new presidential nominee after watching the “disaster” unfold, The New York Times reports.

She has to know she won’t win the election as the president nomination

I don't know why people are so shocked at this. He's not doing anything out of the ordinary. This is what it's like when people get old. This is my parents at this age and my grandparents at this age. I didn't have to convince them to step down as the nominee. Just to stop driving and they couldn't live alone. I don't get the shock. Too many of you were lying to yourselves and screaming cheap, deep, fakes. This is where you eventually end up too. Take a good look.

It would have be a moderate straight white guy to defeat Trump. People who are posting suggestions for Pete Buttigieg, Elizabeth Warren, and Gretchen Whitmer are dumb. A gay man wouldn't be defeat and neither would a woman.

And yet, r562, I have a 93-year-old relative that is way more alert than this. Way more. She walks every day and can debate politics as well as she could 20 years ago. It's what usually happens at a certain point if something doesn't take you out first, you're right, but the age it can happen at varies dramatically.

And if Biden were more energetic than everyone would say he was on drugs - and no one in the media would counter this.
No matter what he does, he can’t win.
It’s not like Trump - who likely is drugged up - can run a marathon or something. He can’t even hold a glass of water with one hand and is often unsteady on his feet. It’s easy for him to talk a total stream of uninterrupted bullshit - and everybody thinks this is impressive?
Ultimately, you get the leadership you deserve.

Gretchen Whitmer just won re-election two years ago by a bigger margin than the first time she was elected. She is the popular governor of a must-win state. The person who keeps trying to trash her chances doesn't know what he's talking about. Republicans are terrified of her.
by Anonymous | reply 580 | June 28, 2024 4:09 AM |

My grandmother was very alert and sharp up into her late 80s. Shortly before 90th birthday, she started to decline and was diagnosed with dementia. She died six years later. In the year before my grandmother's death, a close friend's father was diagnosed with dementia at 59 and my friend moved into his parents' house to help care for his father. . My friend's fathe had other health issues and died two years later.

Former Senator Claire McCaskill is stating hard facts!
Honestly, Vice President Kamala Harris would be a better candidate but unfortunately, the majority of white Americans, and some Americans of color, including some of you DL ass whipes, would not vote for her.
by Anonymous | reply 585 | June 28, 2024 4:13 AM |
A stroll down the road is not being president. Joe would have zero difficulty with the activities you describe your relatives doing. You are making a false equivalency.

by Anonymous | reply 587 | June 28, 2024 4:14 AM |
So Biden did so poorly and Trump so well, that the large segment of the population who've already decided who they would vote for before the debate are going to suddenly change the candidate they are supporting and the entire race is now a foregone conclusion. Trump just won the election tonight and nothing can stop his landslide victory in November. Tonight was THAT consequential. Does that really make any sense or should we calm the fuck down with the apocalyptic predictions?
by Anonymous | reply 588 | June 28, 2024 4:16 AM |
It's elder abuse!!!
by Anonymous | reply 589 | June 28, 2024 4:16 AM |
r586, I wasn't making an equivalency, exactly. I was making a point that the mind goes at vastly different times. And yes, Biden would struggle debating the way this relative does. I can tell that from the way Biden performs on a regular basis. (And I only mentioned one relative, singular.) But yes, the Presidency is more demanding than a stroll down the road. But not the point.

I like Gretchen Whitmer and I respected her after she revealed in the recent NYT interview that she was a wild rebellious teenager and she didn't become ambitious until she went to law school. Not many people own up to their screw ups of their youth. That said, she wouldn't be able to defeat Trump in a presidential race.

by Anonymous | reply 600 | June 28, 2024 4:22 AM |
Of course Biden would be a better choice than Trump. That's a given. But after tonight, we can no longer ignore the fact that Biden should retire and let a younger and more able candidate take his place. It's the right thing for the country at this critical moment in our history.....and it's the right thing for Biden.
by Anonymous | reply 601 | June 28, 2024 4:23 AM |
Trump was right in that when Putin and Iran and China and North Korea see Biden in this mental state, they’re likely to see a weakened USA.

by Anonymous | reply 604 | June 28, 2024 4:25 AM |
So, tonight demonstrated that Trump CAN keep quiet and stick to rules when he needs to. Doesn't that ability to control himself make him an even bigger asshole than before? (Not saying how it will be viewed by the public, just commenting. )
by Anonymous | reply 605 | June 28, 2024 4:25 AM |
So. Only ONE topic, ONE story, ONE "take-away" from tonight. So it appears. "PANIC!"
Not any of Trump's lies. Or his golf posturings.
Trump could even have spoken all about those sharks and sinking electric boats and waterless showers and loser soldiers and jobs for "the Blacks" (oh, wait....), and NONE OF IT WOULD BE MENTIONED.
Just ONE story, people. If there's a Debate #2 and Joe is and sounds more alert, it won't matter. Trump has conditioned voters to think "drugs."
Moreover, though Dana said "former President Trump," Jake Tapper kept using "President Trump," as though he, Trump, were the Incumbent.
