Isn’t this house essentially a tear down at this point?

R1 is Tori. Go feed your children!

I don't think I've ever seen so much gray in any Tasteful Friends home before.
[QUOTE] ‘When I saw Scarlett (O’Hara) coming down those stairs that is what I wanted,’ said Spelling’s widow Candy.
😬

It’s what people in the 70s thought was classy.

I think the reno is an improvement but the bar was pretty low.

(it's obvious that screenshot was just photoshopped into the pic, but it's still an abomination)

The last time the Spelling Manor changed hands was in 2019, when it sold to an undisclosed buyer for $119.75 million. Adjusted that now would be $146,188,881.98

[quote] a substantial total renovation has transformed what was once an elegant French-inspired Château into a gleaming modernized manor suited for 21st-century living
As opposed to an insubstantial “total” renovation? As opposed to a non-French-inspired “Château?”
It was NEVER a Château,

All the charm of a Lifestyles of the Rich & Famous with Robin Leach. I can smell the Bijan perfume and marvel at the Nolan Miller dresses in my bowling alley.

I don't have a problem with an obnoxiously large house but the rooms are way too big in this one. It's poorly designed.
by Anonymous | reply 16 | June 27, 2024 9:15 PM |
^ That's because Candy couldn't read blueprints and thought the rooms looked small, so she kept saying, "Make them bigger"
Her words, not mine

This looks like it could be 10 banquet halls, as opposed to a house.

My sister-in-law worked as a launderess in this mansion. The owner at the time, Petra Ecclestone, insisted on 24/7 laundry services but never actually needed anything at night. So, my sister-in-law got paid to snooze in a recliner during the graveyard shift!

That sounds like a dream job for a college student. Do you know what tge pay was like?
by Anonymous | reply 20 | June 27, 2024 10:39 PM |
The land the house is under is worth more than the house.
by Anonymous | reply 21 | June 27, 2024 10:42 PM |
I don't understand houses this big. Turn it into a hotel/event venue or something.
by Anonymous | reply 22 | June 27, 2024 10:58 PM |
R20 - My mom told me it paid less than her usual housekeeping rate, which was $45-$60 an hour. However, since she slept most of the night, it worked out well. It also had the added benefit of not having to commute daily to and from the Westside (Beverly Hills or Bel Air) to her home 25 miles away in Long Beach. So, being a launderess a couple of days a week turned out to be pretty convenient

R22 could never be rezoned. Holmby Hills.
by Anonymous | reply 25 | June 27, 2024 11:43 PM |
Maybe HGTV or Lance Bass will buy it and recreate various Spelling TV Show mansions and Tori can move in fir a new reality show but include her brother and Corey Feldman.
by Anonymous | reply 27 | June 28, 2024 12:46 AM |
There is no way on earth for anyone to actually make that thing a real home. It should be rezoned and used as a conference center.

Look like it’s owned by people who serve burnt champagne.

The loggia looks like it’s made of drywall. Which it probably is.

I mean, which architect sinks so low to design something like this? The proportions are all wrong.

Fourteen bedrooms but twenty-seven bathrooms. Ieeal for an extended family of bulimics/laxative abusers.
by Anonymous | reply 34 | June 28, 2024 6:16 AM |
When the public spaces are a quarter of a mile from the bedrooms, you need a lot of extra bathrooms.

Who the hell needs 56,000 sq ft to live in? Recycle what can be recycled and dump the rest.

Billionaires, r36. Billionaires need 56,000 sq. Ft to remind everyone how rich they are. Otherwise, why be a billionaire at all.
