Actors and their Money
I was thinking about the creation of Golden Girls. Originally, it is said, that Bea Arthur didn’t want to do it because she didn’t want to play another “Maude” character.
At that time, was she financially secure to turn down lucrative work? She obviously had money from Maude but it wasn’t the film version of Mame that paid the rent.
When actors turn down lucrative jobs, they must have good savings in place.

After Maude, Bea was offered many roles that she turned down. She also had her own special in 1980 and then did Amanda's By The Sea which didn't work out but she was always being considered for different roles. I also think she had enough money for the rest of her life after Maude. Here she is in 1989 talking to Dick Cavett about the roles she turned down after Maude.

Some people just value their own time and live below their means.
