I recall reading that Lorraine Bracco, who had recently been nominated for an Academy Award, was brought in to 'Miami Vice' as a romantic partner for Crockett on a multi-episode arc. But apparently Don Johnson viciously mocked her looks.

R8 She had to abandon the role of Caitlin Davies due to illness while shooting in Miami. Enter Sheena Easton for the role which saw Don Johnson’s character fall in love with rock star Caitlin.
Shortly after Sheena Easton’s arrival, Don Johnson threw a celebrity filled party at his home which included Sheena Easton and U2’s Bono.
