She was so good in this!

Such great talent at such a young age.

First off I didn’t know was she a boy or a girl!

Her specialty was smart ass, older than their years, tough little kids.

She was on the "Courtship of Eddie's Father" TV show several times and always played a butch tomboy.

When I first saw the movie (on PIX 11 in the 80s because they ALWATS showed it), I also had no idea if it was a boy or girl.

Just saw this film a couple weeks ago. GREAT movie, and even though society has changed a lot in the last 50 years, it still felt timely.

Ellen Burstyn is perfect in this movie and really deserved that Oscar.

I had no idea this was directed by Martin Scorsese.

I loved this movie right up until the cheesy Hollywood ending.

Lots of good performances in that movie. Billy Green Bush & Lelia Goldini do a lot with their tiny roles.

Only those in the deepest depths of dyketude would wear a short sleeved top under a sundress to the Oscars.

Like Brooke, Jodie was prettiest at 17.

R8, I don’t believe she is named immediately in her first scene with Tommy. And even when she is, she is just SO butch.

R16, you are so right. And that’s what makes the film so good.

Green Bush is great in the small scene in bed. He’s such an angry tyrant to that point, but when Alice starts crying in bed and they do a close up of him and he has tears in his eyes, it’s heartbreaking. You suddenly see him as somebody who is just as deeply unhappy and, as a result, makes the others in the house unhappy.

And Goldoni is so great as Bea.

I disagree, R18. Jodie's become more attractive as she's aged. She was the homeliest little thing when she was a kid and not much better as a teen.

Jodie did the TV series of Paper Moon.

Jodie Foster did something nice for my school friend, who was a child extra on PAPER MOON.

When the two were being fitted in wardrobe my friend told the costumer her vintage shoes pinched, but he said they’d do.

Foster told my friend to switch shoes with her, and those ended up fitting better. Then Foster wore the small shoes over to the costumer and asked for a different pair.

I once liked and admired Jodie for her talent, looks and above all, brains.

Until she decided to support Alok Vaid-Menon. 🤬🤬
