I still get a much smaller phone book annually, white and yellow pages combined.

I miss this voice even more than the phonebooks or telephone directories.

Remember how you could use your pencil eraser to turn the directory pages, just before you used the pencil to dial the phone number?

Reminds me when someone said she is on LinkedIn and doesn't understand why she is not getting lots of job interviews.

by Anonymousreply 7June 16, 2024 9:14 PM

You would check your name just to make sure that you were still in the book

by Anonymousreply 8June 16, 2024 9:23 PM

R8 and check if all of your friends were in there even though you knew their numbers by heart

by Anonymousreply 9June 16, 2024 9:25 PM

My parents lived on an island in Canada. They only had to dial 4 numbers to call someone.

by Anonymousreply 10June 16, 2024 9:27 PM

Look for it up inside your ass

by Anonymousreply 11June 16, 2024 9:27 PM

ET phone home to your ass

by Anonymousreply 12June 16, 2024 11:44 PM

My grandparents lived on a small island in Greece. They only had to yell out the window to call someone.

by Anonymousreply 13June 16, 2024 11:52 PM

R5, I love that little phone table.

by Anonymousreply 14June 17, 2024 12:01 AM

R5 My grandparents had a similar phone table to that which was in their hall.

Alas, history has turned its page.

I remember delivering the great big yellow pages in 1982. One of those jobs I had like inserting ad pages in newspapers.

by Anonymousreply 17June 17, 2024 1:57 AM

R17 is that copy lost anally?

by Anonymousreply 18June 17, 2024 8:38 PM
