If you really look at it, it might be the ugliest national flag in existence. Too many incongrous shapes. But really, the problem is the stars in the upper left of the flag. They just look like complete shit boxed into that area.
I think we need to go back to the drawing board with this shit.
Less is more when it comes to flags. Three stripes, placed horizontal to one another, red, white and blue. And call it a day.

It's a fucking masterpiece of a flag and has been an icon since it was first created.
The British flag is the only one offhand that comes close in terms of design.
The French Tricolor is a very distant third.

It was fashioned on the East India Company flag. Funny, because American historians until recently haven't been interested hat much in the effects of the British colonial rule in India on the American drive for independence. That infamous tea in Boston came over from India, by the way.
