I'm usually anonymous, and I'm only signing this post now out of respect for dear, sweet Price. He was such a lovely soul who shared his move from Nebraska and building his life in Kansas City cutting hair with us, so it's really sad.to learn he's gone.

Came back last August myself after I stopped visiting around 2010-2011. Slocombe was taken, have the Slocumbe spelling.

I'm happily back in Europe, and this is maybe the third time I've signed a post since returning to DL. I'm extremely private now, so that's all I'll say. I am mortified at the amount of personal information I shared here in my early 20's, and am extremely grateful that most of it isn't available. It's a luxury to not have that live forever. I was really naive about what people can do with personally identifiable information then, as were many of us.

It's a bit bizarre to see grudges held for14+ years. I suppose you're welcome to it if you want to engage with that version of me, but it looks like 99% of us have moved on. It's been an interesting exercise to experience how much I've grown and changed as I aged by returning here.

Anyway, welcome back Torta. It's definitely not what it was, but so are we and so is the internet.

I'm on here occasionally nowadays, and always anon given my past experiences, but a lot of the time it seems like there's no policing of the extreme fandom or even soap opera threads that grow to ridiculous lengths. I'm still Facebook friends with quite a few DLers (and ASG alumni), both authenticated & anon, and even now I remember the big in-person get-together in NYC circa 2005 or 2006. Still, the level of toxicity on DL, even if not aimed at me personally, seems to have gotten considerably worse, though that's true in society in general. The number of asshole posters who dismiss anyone who doesn't agree with them as being a "frau" or something similarly silly has gotten out of hand, though I know frauen are still one of DL's favorite all-around scapegoats.

Finally, I'm baffled what the fuck is up with the site's functionality, though I gather these are all known issues: broken search function, "become a contributor!" pop-ups even if you are an contributor, etc. I'm glad troll-banning & redtags are back, but I truly don't get how a specific thread ends up as such: does the Webmaster do it manually, or has he written scripts to auto-ban certain people or threads? (I gather that links to the Daily Fail generate automated bans.)

Not really related to anything above, but it still blows my mind that this site is turning 30 next year! (Should we plan a party or something?)
