And the metaphor of the bouquet braking apart, like their relationship, like Carrie’s heart. I’m shaking and sobbing at the profundity of it all.

I prefer the alternative scene where a bus comes around the corner (one of the ones with Carrie in a tutu) and runs her over. Big, Miranda, and Charlotte have a good laugh and go for brunch.

I hated this movie. At least the second one was amusing in a trainwreck sort of way ("Lawrence of my Labia"), while this one was just plain bad.

Why did the makeup people make SJP look like an evil crone witch in that wedding getup?

It was just a rehash of plots from the series (a bit like the AbFab movie.) Labia was truly awful but at least they put some imagination into creating something that awful. More to hate.

SJP needs hair on her face to soften it. She looked her best with the curly mane or even when it was shorter like at her book launch. The scraped back look was very bad.

Miranda always had awful hair until she grew it longer and lightened the red.

Unpopular opinion but the first SATC movie is a solid RomCon, one i can watch at least once or twice a year on it's own. It has solid pacing, solid fashion, a solid narrative, and is well shot. I really really liked the fashion from this time as well, because I was in my senior year of high school when this came out, so it brings back fond memories.

I don't watch the old show, can't get into the remake, and detest SATC2. But SATC 1 is like Crazy Rich Asians, an easy RomCom pick when I'm in the mood for such escapism.

When Charlotte screams NO at Big as her eyes whiz around in two different directions never fails to make me laugh out loud. It’s like she finds out he murdered someone on the way to his wedding.

SJP, as always, looks hideous from start to finish in this movie, and her bony veiny feet and arms should remain covered at all times. Same with her face.

Don't forget Kristin's bizarre facial spasm when she shits herself. She really was awful the whole movie long.

The most maddening thing in the movie was she took him back because he emailed her History's Greatest Love Letters. Just had his secretary cut and paste them into emails.

She took him back because she missed him and he was rich. She was always obsessed with Big. Carrie was just as much a social climber as Charlotte. She was never going to settle for some nice shlub with an ordinary job who was nice to her.

r61 how is that mad? Big was the love of her life and was crazy rich. The woman casually BUYS a NY palace at the end of S2 of ASJLT with Big's money. She was in her 40s. Any person would have accepted and he was sorry. Cold feet happens but he apologized at the church, but she freaked out instead of being an adult, having a conversation with him, then getting married that day.

So, yes, she needed to forgive him to at least have a retirement plan. Her book money wouldn't last forever.

Was Charlotte a climber though? I always thought she was the real deal what with working in a gallery and going to Smith and riding and pearls etc. Again, the SATC mythology has forced the audience into believing that Charlotte is best buddies with a dirtbag like Carrie.

I think Charlotte was a climber in that she would never consider a less-than-rich man like Miranda and Samantha. She also cared about making it in NY society, elevating herself by marriage. She clearly had a privileged background but aspired to higher things she didn't already have through family connections.

The show softened her by marrying Harry, as he wasn't conventionally attractive and a bit of a slob. If he was a car salesman instead of a filthy rich attorney she wouldn't have looked twice at him as he couldn't give her prestige.

Carrie wasn't so much a climber as she might enjoy attention and celebrity but wasn't so concerned with fitting in with NY high society, although she certainly welcomed it in the end.
