WHET Gotye?

The Australian singer-songwriter won two Grammy Awards for the ubiquitous "Somebody That I Used to Know" (if you were listening to the radio at all in 2011, you'll remember) and has not released any original music to speak of since. While that song was extremely overplayed, I do think it is fantastic and the vocal harmonies on it between him and Kimbra are absolutely beautiful. Did he choose to be a one-hit wonder?

Hope he’s off the planet Earth.

Gotye went away.

We surely don’t know her anymore.

I remember thinking he was really cute at the time. An offbeat kind of handsome--very much my type. He and Kimbra made for a quirky musical duo. She's stunning too.

I've always found him super sexy. Plus he's Flemish, which is almost always a guarantee for a long uncut schlong.

Alive and working, but not under the name Gotye.

R6 that kind of makes him more interesting to me and makes me want to actually check out his other projects.

The Grammy award acceptance. Prince gave them his stamp of approval and they seemed truly flattered.

That one stupid song guarantees him retirement. It’s as pop culture as Andy’s Soup Cans.

Kimbra has released several albums since, though she never really "took off" so to speak. I think she's very talented too.

That whole album was really good. A friend played it for me and by the time we got to The Hit I was a fan. I had the same reaction to the LEN album. One hit wonders with whole albums that were good

His career went straight down the shitter as I wish the op would do.

One if my all time favorite songs

Yeah but you prove time and time again you have zero taste

R12, find a therapist.

by Anonymousreply 15June 10, 2024 12:15 AM

I hated that song.
