Celebrity gossip isn’t fun anymore

Everything is really heavy these days.

It's not fun because all the PR spin, tactics and stunts are so obvious.

Because of what makes a “celebrity” now.

Sadly, yes. It's a number of reasons: The death of monoculture due to audience fragmentation. The rise of misinformation via social media. People creating echo chambers of their own opinions. Algorithms manipulating users into staying on a site by showing them incendiary content. Advertising overwhelming real content on the internet.

Personally, I think insane right wing conspiracy trolls took over celebrity gossip a few years ago. They hate Hollywood for spreading liberal politics, so they spread child abuse rumors about celebrities.

I think annoying stans of celebrities all across the spectrum (musicians, politicians, sports stars, etc) have ruined it. I come to gossip sites to have fun and talk shit and get the dirt on celebs but there's always some annoying stan defending their idol as if its their own fucking mother. Its annoying as fuck.

All the so called celebs are gross no talent idiots that think they are so enlightened.....And no one is brave enough to tell them they are idiots to their faces.

Or to arrest them when they strike people

Celeb gossip is no longer fun because today you get called out for fat shaming, slut shaming, gender shaming, deadnaming, sexism, cissexism, ageism, classicism, etc., etc., for calling things as you see them. Same with irreverent comedy. Gone are the days when you can have a silly, schoolboy laugh at random penises drawn on celebrity portraits.

Thank god for Jennifer Lopez.

She's a talentless diva and a terrible person, but she always delivers on classic, old-school Hollywood gossip. It's usually low-stakes drama where even things end poorly, they won't end in tragedy, like we know is coming for Britney Spears. We can all feel some guilt-free schadenfreude over the failure of her marriage and comeback tour without being shamed over it.

She'll be fine, and in another year or two, she'll do something like publicly enter into a throuple with two of her back-up dancers, and start the media cycle all over again.
