Please explain to me why banning an Israel float (sponsored by Israel? Their tourism board?) is antisemitism when any other time the mere suggestion that Israel is a Jewish state bordering on a theocracy is met with vociferous protestations to the contrary. Why didn’t you know that Israel has a diverse and prismatic population of not just Jews, but Arabs, Ethiopians, Russians, you name it!

In other words a float representing Israel would not be welcome. Also note that it says "...SF Pride is careful not to conflate Jewish groups and Jewish people LIVING IN AMERICA with the state of Israel." Which gives the impression that Jews living in Israel and Israelis are not welcome.

However:

"We have welcomed and continue to welcome pro-Palestinian groups to the SF Pride Parade. If more are interested, they can join the Resistance Contingent (with the SF Pride Board), or if such a group wants to have its own contingent, we invite them to request a fee waiver."

The first couple of comments I see are at least pro-Israel. I find it hard to believe that normal gay men would be anti-Israel. I don't know, R72. We probably differ from each other culturally, as 'Socialism' is not a dirty word where I'm from, or at least it wasn't while I was growing up. I also have no experience of Socialist parties being 'installed', only voted in. Many people also scoff at the term "neoliberalism" (which some would say is nebulous or ill-defined), but I find it a pretty useful term to describe the kinds of center-right, business-friendly governments that have dominated politics in my two countries of residence, the Netherlands and Ireland, for the past decade and a half. But that's not a discussion to be had on this thread.
