Still Remains by Stone Temple Pilots
Not released as singles, but should have been:

I think TT's 2nd album was "radio friendly challenged" with it's material but this upbeat one might've been given some spins back in '86 =

This cut off of TT's 3rd album might've worked better in the fall of 88/spring '89 =

I have no skin in this game since I loved all their albums, in their entirety.
That doesn't happen often anymore.

I was talking about STP, specifically^^

This cut off of their debut album showed how she could sing & hold a note =

"Heat of The Night" should've been the follow up to "Barbie Girl" in the US =

Til Tuesday was a band that was just getting better and better with each album. With the exception of Voices Carry, there wasn't much to recommend on the first album. Welcome Home had some fantastic cuts and was one of the best albums of '86. However, I think Everything's Different Now was their crowning achievement. I think the problem was that Voices Carry was somewhat of a gimmick single (however good it was) and Aimee Mann wasn't looking to repeat that, so radio ignored them.
I think the same thing happened with Katrina and the Waves, who did much better work in '86 and '89, but everyone was looking for Walking on Sunshine 2 (why, I have no idea- that fucking song was awful) and they ignored their subsequent releases, which were much better.

If this was a single anywhere then I never heard it on my radio -

I think this song as a '86 single would've showed the girls as more than just a dance group (Venus, etc.) -

Hearing this on my radio back in the early 80s as a kid would've drove me wild -

This haunting tune should've haunted the air waves =
by Anonymous | reply 14 | June 6, 2024 11:24 PM |
Off of this album, I think this song was Pat's best chance of a radio hit =
by Anonymous | reply 16 | June 8, 2024 7:46 PM |
Not only should this have been a single but also the lead track on the album & the album's title =

I hated STP when I was in high school (mid 90s). They were just so uncool and only basic kids liked them.
First, they were Pearl Jam lite. And I didn't even like Pearl Jam all that much. I was a Nirvana devotee.
Second, Weiland was just a total douche. Cobain and Vedder and Staley and Cornell were way more interesting frontmen.
But now that rock music is dead? I kinda love them. They really have some fantastic songs. I love the song, OP.
(Weiland, RIP, never wasn't a douche however. But he had a great voice.)

Her second album was definitely hit challenged but this was one of the best -
by Anonymous | reply 21 | June 8, 2024 8:01 PM |
Nothing on radio even remotely sounded like this one from the early 90s

"Heart Like A Wheel " was an instant dud. I heard the song once on a tv video show & although I loved the band had no interest in hearing it again (or even seeing the video again).

None Of Laura's upbeat singled from this album made a dent on the charts.
She should've released one of the ballads from it -

Madonna has several hits from this album but the title track was a bomb. This one showed a vulnerability that she was lacking up to this point =
by Anonymous | reply 27 | June 8, 2024 8:16 PM |
Good call, R27. This track and Take a Bow are the only songs off that album I'd give repeated listens to.
by Anonymous | reply 28 | June 8, 2024 8:17 PM |
Even the religious right folks would've enjoyed this track on their radio & she'd probably would've had another top 10 :

I never understood The Big Sky being released from Hounds of Love, it's utterly forgettable when compared to the other singles from that album.
Any track from side two of HOL would have shown a broader range of her musical abilities than The Big Sky.

R26 that was a cassette single and bombed everywhere except the A/C chaere it stalled in the mid twenties.

I never cared much for his music but a catchy hit is a catchy hit
by Anonymous | reply 32 | June 8, 2024 8:21 PM |
Loved this track, more so than many of the more upbeat numbers from Very.

Belinda was going back to her rock roots with this album but this not so rocky ballad was the hidden gem on it

The Batman crew missed out on something like this
by Anonymous | reply 35 | June 8, 2024 8:27 PM |
This is totally relaxing which was something different then what she was releasing to the radio stations -
by Anonymous | reply 37 | June 8, 2024 8:32 PM |
Well the name change didn't help him much but maybe this as a single would've helped things out
by Anonymous | reply 39 | June 8, 2024 8:34 PM |
This 60s themed album had a clunky title which also was the clunky lead track & clunky lead single.
This should've been the awesome album title, awesome lead track & awesome lead single.
by Anonymous | reply 40 | June 8, 2024 8:38 PM |
Why of why did they not release this as a single?! Not only is it one of the strongest song on the album, it's also the title track.
by Anonymous | reply 41 | June 8, 2024 8:39 PM |
R40, that Belinda album cover is definitely second rate Pierre et Gilles.
by Anonymous | reply 42 | June 8, 2024 8:41 PM |
Mariah always seemed to release dreary ballads or mid-tempo messes. Never a hi-NRG firestorm :
by Anonymous | reply 43 | June 8, 2024 8:42 PM |
When I first bought this album after falling in love with their 1st single, I thought this would've been a big hit for them -

This was Etheridge's best song from her mid 90s album.
I always see a "Charlotte's Web" type pig struggling to survive...
