Mondo Hollywood is a documentary "mondo movie" by Robert Carl Cohen, released in 1967.[2] Filmed over the preceding two years, it was described by Variety as a "flippy, trippy psychedelic guide to Hollywood".

The movie w Lee Marvin where he escapes from Alcatraz and heads back to LA in revenge mode, and he hooks up w Angie Dickinson. Very 1967, and some of the images and shots are gorgeous..

Watch Welcome to LA, Shampoo, and The Long Goodbye. And listen to Warren Zevon's wonderful self-titled album, the most LA thing I can think of. And any Beach Boys greatest hits albums.

Lords Of Dogtown. It's an autobiographical movie about famous skateboarders. Not my cup of tea but I loved the authentic 70s vibe. Plus it has Heath Ledger and Emile Hirsch in it.

I would agree that porn from the 60s and 70s is perhaps the most evocative of LA during that time, especially with their casual footage of neighborhoods.

Watch the documentary "Laurel Canyon". It's about Laurel Canyon in the 60's & 70's.
Seriously, it's all about that time, the music, the personalities, politics!!

To R41, when I saw a news program about teenaged male prostitution on Santa Monica Blvd, I wanted to do it for a week.
I wanted to be teenaged male hooker working the streets (just for a week). I couldn't get out to LA until after 1985.
I tried hooking in NYC, Philly and Wash DC (just for a week). It wasn't LA though, but I had fun!!
MY TV movie was "Michael, the other side of Alexander"

By any chance, r43, did you post on AOL as "callboy1wk" in DC, Phillywhore? This would have been in 1995.
by Anonymous | reply 44 | May 28, 2024 6:30 PM |
Never posted anything on AOL, I was a "bad Gay" always working!!
1995 was the beginning of my divorce, move to the West Coast for my new job (LA then La Jolla)& then the kids moved here.
I didn't discover DL until 2019, always used Craigslist to pick up men (that was fun)

r45 Awww, too bad, Phillywhore. When you typed "just for a week" after DC, I hoped you'd turn out to be (AOL ID) "callboy1wk," who turned out to be one of the top three sexperiences of my life.
