Morticia had more class
This should’ve been a poll.

Morticia of course. Classy.
by Anonymous | reply 2 | May 27, 2024 4:37 PM |
Team Lillie especially when she sang that song and played the harpsicord on the episode of the Munsters with the Beatniks.
by Anonymous | reply 3 | May 27, 2024 4:38 PM |
Tough call. I love them both.
by Anonymous | reply 4 | May 27, 2024 4:38 PM |
Morticia team.
by Anonymous | reply 5 | May 27, 2024 4:41 PM |
Lilly is warmer, and has class.....Morticia is classier.. but I love them both.
by Anonymous | reply 6 | May 27, 2024 4:45 PM |
Morticia is classy, but Lily seems more fun.
by Anonymous | reply 7 | May 27, 2024 4:45 PM |
Morticia, of course. She was sexy, sultry, and so macabre.
How could you not love her as she cut the blooms off all her roses or when she played that weird harp thing and shrieked while she did it?
by Anonymous | reply 9 | May 27, 2024 4:48 PM |
Morticia and Gomez had sexual chemistry.
Herman seemed asexual, so Lillie was more of a motherly wife.
by Anonymous | reply 10 | May 27, 2024 4:54 PM |
Carolyn Jones was a beautiful woman who we lost too soon. And the original Addams Family was campy fun.
I never watched the Munsters, even as a young child-. I thought it was stupid.
by Anonymous | reply 11 | May 27, 2024 5:06 PM |
[quote] Herman seemed asexual
Herman was a flaming queen. Even as a kid I could see that.
by Anonymous | reply 12 | May 27, 2024 5:10 PM |
Yvonne DeCarlo was almost 10 years older than Carolyn Jones. She was pretty hot during her early film days.
by Anonymous | reply 13 | May 27, 2024 5:14 PM |
@r12, He was henpecked, at least that's what they called it in the 60s
by Anonymous | reply 14 | May 27, 2024 5:16 PM |
Both!
by Anonymous | reply 15 | May 27, 2024 5:19 PM |
mortician was a lady, Lily was simply a housewife
by Anonymous | reply 16 | May 27, 2024 5:25 PM |
I loved them both. But I have to give the slight edge to Morticia just for the delighted way she always thanked Thing, the help of which she never seemed to expect: "Why, THANK YOU, Thing!"
by Anonymous | reply 17 | May 27, 2024 5:30 PM |
Morticia was more interesting. Lily was a sweetheart, but never seemed curious about anything.
by Anonymous | reply 18 | May 27, 2024 5:38 PM |
It was obvious that Gomez and Morticia had a kinky sex life.
by Anonymous | reply 19 | May 27, 2024 5:41 PM |
Morticia never left the house.
by Anonymous | reply 20 | May 27, 2024 6:04 PM |
^ She didn't need to, she was Mrs. Aaron Spelling the 1st
by Anonymous | reply 21 | May 27, 2024 6:22 PM |
Lily Munster- especially when she was hired as a model to walk the catwalk for fashion designer Lazlo Brastoff.
by Anonymous | reply 22 | May 27, 2024 6:38 PM |
Morticia.
by Anonymous | reply 23 | May 27, 2024 6:45 PM |
[quote]It was obvious that Gomez and Morticia had a kinky sex life.
Yes. It was overt. They seemed somewhat switchable, but Morticia was the dom more frequently.
Morticia, most definitely.
by Anonymous | reply 24 | May 27, 2024 6:52 PM |
Morticia was once married to Aaron Spelling.
by Anonymous | reply 25 | May 27, 2024 6:54 PM |
One was in House of Wax and played a wonderful human who had been waxed alive and place on exhibit by Vinvent Price. The other was married to Moses and gave a beautiful speech about how she would cross any desert and climb any mountain to follow him. How can you compare?
by Anonymous | reply 26 | May 27, 2024 6:57 PM |
Team Lilly
by Anonymous | reply 27 | May 27, 2024 6:58 PM |
R11- I like the Addams Family but there's no comparison. The writing on the Munsters was far better than the Addams Family.
The Munsters was a far funnier show than the Addams Family.

I'm Still Here
by Anonymous | reply 29 | May 27, 2024 7:40 PM |
I never understood what Morticia was. Was she just an eccentric regular person or something more? You knew who and what Lily was. For those reasons, I'm picking Lily.
by Anonymous | reply 30 | May 27, 2024 7:42 PM |
I never understood what Lily was. Her dad was a werewolf, her husband Frankenstein. Was she supposed to be a vampire?
by Anonymous | reply 31 | May 27, 2024 7:46 PM |
Lily Munster was hilarious - Morticia was just droll.....
I love Lily.
by Anonymous | reply 32 | May 27, 2024 7:59 PM |
R25, are you also R21?
by Anonymous | reply 33 | May 27, 2024 7:59 PM |
R31, her father was Count Dracula. She was part Bride of Frankenstein and part vampire.
by Anonymous | reply 34 | May 27, 2024 8:02 PM |
Morticia (specifically the Angelica Huston portrayal). Carolyn Jones may be the original but she had a very round and sweet looking girlish face (still a phenomenal actress in the role nonetheless) whereas Angelica at the time had this strong more seductive and mysterious dark sinister witchy beauty that bordered on otherworldly.
by Anonymous | reply 36 | May 27, 2024 8:36 PM |
R30 With the exception of Lurch and Cousin It, the Addams were human, but eccentric and macabre. The Munsters were based on the monsters from the Universal films.
by Anonymous | reply 37 | May 27, 2024 8:51 PM |
^ That's true, they really were nothing alike. The Munsters were your average all-American family that came out of Universal's back lot. Where the Addams Family were actually written to show that even those weird people down the street had the same rights as everyone else. Both shows were kind of a metaphor on the Civil Rights movement of the time. People who looked or acted "different" weren't really all that different
by Anonymous | reply 38 | May 27, 2024 9:01 PM |
Tough call, but it's Lily for me. So much more resourceful.
by Anonymous | reply 39 | May 27, 2024 9:13 PM |
R32- One of my favorite Munsters episodes- When her and Marylin open a beauty parlor.
I'm Mrs. Harkness THE Mrs. Harkness
This episode was so outrageous and outrageously funny.
by Anonymous | reply 40 | May 27, 2024 9:14 PM |
This is like Sophie's Choice.
by Anonymous | reply 41 | May 27, 2024 9:56 PM |
Morticia had more class but Lily wore a strap-on.
by Anonymous | reply 42 | May 27, 2024 10:56 PM |
R30, Morticia was a witch from Salem.
by Anonymous | reply 43 | May 27, 2024 11:21 PM |
Yvonne DeCarlo was a sexy chick. Carolyn Jones was a quirky chick.
by Anonymous | reply 44 | May 27, 2024 11:28 PM |
Aicitrom was a witch from Melaswen.
by Anonymous | reply 45 | May 27, 2024 11:39 PM |
Morticia by far.
by Anonymous | reply 46 | May 27, 2024 11:40 PM |
They were both great in their roles. I like Yvonne as Lily Munster best
by Anonymous | reply 47 | May 27, 2024 11:42 PM |
Lily seems more fuckable than Morticia. Guess Herman had a bigger implant via Gomez's natural nub.
by Anonymous | reply 48 | May 28, 2024 12:13 AM |
Morticia was a bohemian wild child. Lily was a frau. End of discussion.
by Anonymous | reply 49 | May 28, 2024 12:23 AM |
I love them both, but I have to go with Morticia. Now do we like Sam's cousin Serena or Jeannie's twin sister Jeannie II?
by Anonymous | reply 50 | May 28, 2024 12:24 AM |
Lily had sort of a Spanish accent.
by Anonymous | reply 51 | May 28, 2024 1:29 AM |
Really, Debbie? PASTELS?
by Anonymous | reply 52 | May 28, 2024 2:51 AM |
Cultured Queens of the DL should know that Sondheim wrote “I’m Still Here” for Yvonne DeCarlo.
Lilly Munster by a spooky mile.
by Anonymous | reply 53 | May 28, 2024 2:58 AM |
First you're another sloe-eyed Vamp Then someone's mother Then you're camp
by Anonymous | reply 54 | May 28, 2024 3:01 AM |
Can that boy ffffffffoxtrot.
by Anonymous | reply 55 | May 28, 2024 5:10 AM |
R50 Don't forget Morticia's sister Ophelia (also played by Carolyn Jones!)
by Anonymous | reply 56 | May 28, 2024 11:09 PM |
R56 "Oh, boy, I'm lucky! I'll say I'm lucky!"
by Anonymous | reply 57 | May 29, 2024 12:01 PM |
Yvonne DeCarlo was more alluring, but Morticia was sexier. She and Gomez couldn’t hope their hands off each other.
Damn you OP, I didn’t not expect to start my day with this extreme thought exercise.
by Anonymous | reply 58 | May 29, 2024 12:12 PM |
^^oops too many negatives up there^^
by Anonymous | reply 59 | May 29, 2024 12:13 PM |
R31 her father was a vampire as was she. The kid, Eddie, was a werewolf.
by Anonymous | reply 60 | May 29, 2024 12:46 PM |

I have noticed that gay men love Huston's Morticia but straight men prefer Carolyn Jones.
by Anonymous | reply 61 | May 29, 2024 12:57 PM |
R62 what is that next to her?
by Anonymous | reply 63 | May 29, 2024 2:50 PM |
R63 Luis Guzman
by Anonymous | reply 64 | May 29, 2024 3:00 PM |
I would not mind Lily as my next door neighbor.
by Anonymous | reply 65 | May 29, 2024 3:07 PM |
R64 is he supposed to be Gomez?
I haven't seen such miscasting since John C. Reilly as 'Stanley Kowalski' in the 2005 Broadway revival of STREETCAR.
by Anonymous | reply 66 | May 29, 2024 3:10 PM |
r66, he's the living embodiment of the OG illustrated Gomez:
by Anonymous | reply 67 | May 29, 2024 3:42 PM |
Raul Julia was THE perfect Gomez.
by Anonymous | reply 68 | May 29, 2024 3:45 PM |
I preferred Lily's over looks but she was very matronly. I preferred Huston's Morticia.
Yvonne De Carlo was a stunner.
by Anonymous | reply 69 | May 29, 2024 3:48 PM |
Morticia
by Anonymous | reply 70 | May 29, 2024 3:51 PM |
I’m going rogue and voting for Samantha Stephens
by Anonymous | reply 71 | May 29, 2024 4:32 PM |
When I saw The Shining during its first run, the audiences were expecting a traditional horror film. When Shelley Duvall came onscreen, someone in the audience screamed "Morticia".
by Anonymous | reply 72 | May 29, 2024 5:47 PM |
R66, I think the casting of Luis Guzman is faithful to Charles Addams' rendering of Gomez.
by Anonymous | reply 73 | May 29, 2024 6:01 PM |
I´m gonna nitpick my way out of an either ore choice.
Lily for TV
Morticia for movies
by Anonymous | reply 74 | May 29, 2024 9:23 PM |
R74, your response to the “quarry” is golden and solid as iron. It will be mined for generations to come.
by Anonymous | reply 75 | May 29, 2024 9:28 PM |
Lily would do anal and Morticia wouldn’t. Lily for the win.
by Anonymous | reply 76 | May 29, 2024 9:33 PM |
Ah but Morticia certainly is a dom, with all the embellishments that go with it.
by Anonymous | reply 77 | May 29, 2024 10:51 PM |
When I was a little kid, there was a cartoon of Addams Family, in color drawn in the style of Charles Addams, but using the voices from the, you know, tv show. That I loved. And I think Jodie Foster played Pugsley! Why do they never show those?? I think it would clean up on streaming.
By the same token, there was a cartoon version of The Partridge Family!! It used most of the original voices. Except Shirley Jones and they changed her character's name to Connie Partridge! That's another ine I'm simply dying to see.
Hardcore GEN X er here in case you haven't noticed!

Oui.
by Anonymous | reply 79 | May 30, 2024 2:28 AM |
Angelica Huston back then closely resembled the original illustrations of Morticia best. Gomez is supposed to be a Castilian Spaniard with a hint of Mexican.
Raul Julia and Luis Guzman are both Puerto Rican. Having Wednesday and Pugsley (half French/half Spanish) also played by Spanish actors in the latest iteration is very faithful to the source material even if the acting is a bit uneven at times.
