Are these suggestions for real? They’re pretty downscale.
Waverly Inn, Cafe Luxembourg, both are buzzy and clubby, neither are considered among the best restaurants in NY but they are favorites of people who live in those neighborhoods (the West Village and Upper West Side, respectively) .
Comfortable, attractive surroundings, good cocktails and menus which feature elevated comfort food, basically (you can get good burgers at both).

Joe Allen is pretty awful. There are plenty of other good restaurants on W46th.
