I first saw her in a now obscure film called The Golden Bowl. We watched it years ago because it had a stellar cast. Nick Nolte, Uma Thurman, Angelica Huston, and Jeremy Northam who was horribly miscast as an Italian with an atrocious accent. Kate played the hapless daughter who was married to Jeremy, who was having an affair with her long time friend, Uma, while Uma was married to her father Nick. Angelica was the conniving gossipy "friend." Nick was some billionaire-Industrialist from America, who was in Europe collecting art and antiquities. The time was turn of the century-ish. 1900-1920's. Kate was limited and utterly forgettable in her acting abilities. Any young ingenue could have played that part. I compare her with The Rock, and Vin Diesel. Limited abilities and remarkable luck. She got herself into some franchise built around her character and now she is a multi millionaire. Life ain't fair. However, I do regret she is ill, and I applaud her "fuck off" attitude.

Actors or actresses complaining about being judged on their looks are utterly ridiculous. Film is a visual medium.
