Guys named 'Richard' who go by 'Dick'

My (step)Dad's name was Richard and his parents called him Dick, which he hated. He (early on his life) adopted the name "Rocky" or "Rock." He's 75 now and still goes by it.

I never really got that 50s/60s think of shortening Richard to Dick. He *could* be a dick, but this was done from the time he was a toddler, so...

I often wonder why Margaret was shortened to Peg as well. I heard that often when I lived on the East Coast.

I knew a guy in college (early 90s) who was Rick or Richard in HS and went by Dick at college.

He was 21 going on 50, sort of a Alex Keaton type. But he had a nice dick, too 😁

It is kinda rare these days, for sure.

My name is Richard but I think it’s absurd in this day and age to go by Dick. I go by Penis Boy instead.

My former partner (born in the '40s) went by Dick. I told him--I'm not calling you Dick. I will call you Rich or Richard. And forever more, Dick was no longer with anyone we knew except for some old work friends of his who we rarely ever saw.
