JOHNNY Wactor, who played Brando Corbin on General Hospital, has released a shocking statement about his exit from the show.
The actor broke his silence for the first time and thanked fans for their support after the death of his character.
Johnny took to Instagram on Thursday after his character, Brando, was killed off the show.
"It's been a couple days since the demise of Brando Corbin in Port Charles as we know it," he said.
"I have to tell you, I have been so blown away by the reaction from the fans. I had no idea that you guys cared so much about my character."
He went on to say that after 60 years, fans still care and still get outraged when characters die off, calling General Hospital fans "the best in the world."
"As an actor, we're lucky anytime we get a job. To be on a show that has a fanbase that is this loyal and cares this much, I'm truly gonna miss it," Johnny added.
"I'm gonna miss reading y'all's comments and opinions on what the character should do, or what the writer should do. It's really a unique experience."
Brando died at the hands of Port Charles' newest serial killer, The Hook.
He did tease that he might be back in some capacity, saying: "Thank you so much for letting me bring Brando Corbin to life."
"Thank you for caring, and thank you for the support and the well wishes for my future endeavors, whether that's back in Port Charles at some point, or other films or shows."
The actor added that there are some films in the works for him.
Brando Corbin joined the GH family in January 2020 and quickly became a fan-favorite character.
He is the son of Gladys Corbin, so fans thought he would stick around for a lot longer.
General Hospital fans were thrilled when Brando got involved with Sasha, hoping that their relationship would help her stay clean.
However, their storyline quickly shifted after she became pregnant and the baby died after birth.
Sasha then turned back to drugs and Brando struggled to get her help, but eventually got her into rehab.
While things were starting to look up, their world came crashing down once again after he was attacked by The Hook.
He was quickly rushed to the hospital and managed to survive surgery, but it wasn't enough to keep him alive, as the killer's hook was laced with poison.
Johnny talked to Soap Opera Digest after his departure from the show and told the outlet that there was no bad blood between him and the show.
He also said that his schedule was so hectic the last few days that he “was filming so many pages, I didn’t really have time to kind of think or be emotional or reflect on anything."
“I gave a little speech. I knew that I would want to say something just because of my time there and my relationships with the people in the cast and crew. I was a little emotional," Johnny said, after wrapping his last scene.
The soaps actor did not expect to leave the show so soon after his character arrived, but assured the outlet there is no bad blood.
"I wish everyone at GH the best," he ended his statement.

by Anonymous | reply 28 | May 27, 2024 12:53 AM |
Criminality is encouraged by the lack of consequences, mostly due to the liberal DAs in a lot of these cities. If they had long rap sheets, the perpetrators should have been locked away for good long ago. All of the demands for defunding police a few years ago resulted in the pandering from politicians that has led us down a dark path. Bail "reform," not prosecuting "small" crimes, and all of that nonsense has just emboldened the criminal elements. This is more of the same, and certainly won't be the last, sadly.

I'm not a right winger like R29 but I do think that in the very admirable rush to not send people to prison for life for small/petty crimes, many lawmakers went too far in the OTHER direction and made the punishments for a number of crimes too lenient.
Instead of trashing those laws, there should be a reasonable adjustment that makes sense.

Those laws don't prevent theft, they just result in lower prices being paid to criminals by unscrupulous scrap metal dealers, or in the stolen goods being transported across state lines for sale elsewhere. From NBC News:
[quote]State and local governments have passed numerous laws since 2020. But until the metal prices fell, the effectiveness of these laws was mixed. Texas enacted a law requiring catalytic converter sellers provide a thumbprint and proof of purchase of the part. Despite the law, converter thefts in Texas reached new heights in 2022, NICB data showed.
It's not like meth heads desperate for their next fix care much about current events anyway. Similarly, dumb kids who watch TikTok videos about how to steal Hyundais and Kias with a USB cable routinely break into models that aren't vulnerable to such thefts. They'll take the time to learn how to steal but aren't concerned about being able to identify the correct models.

R128, his female co-worker and other co-workers were witnesses. I don't know if they're not giving descriptions for PC (an oldie but a goodie) reasons or if it's standard protocol, it doesn't mean they aren't working behind the scenes to apprehend the suspects. I'm curious to see their criminal histories and their most recent arrests and releases. Thanks George!
I just read an update and they're now reporting when Johnny saw something was going on near his car, he positioned himself in front of his co-worker to shield her and they shot him. These lax laws have to be reversed.

Don’t get too shook but cities with a higher percentage of black residents have the highest crime rates. And the percentage of. violent crime is highest there as well. Look at the list and it becomes fairly clear.

There are many reasons for this and it’s awkward to confront it. Stop and frisk in NYC saved the lives of a lot of young black males who are the number one demo for murder victims.

So many of his GH co-stars wrote heartfelt tributes to Johnny.
Except for egomaniac Maure who worked with him the most and only wrote a couple of words, barely a full sentence. I guess he couldn't be bothered to do more as it didn't involve mental health and Maurice couldn't make it about himself.
I'm baffled as to why sputtering Maurice is regarded as a mental health advocate. All he talks about is himself and the average person with bipolar can't get away his type of bad behavior in the workplace and still be employed.
Pressuring his co-stars to come on his youtube show and stroke his ego so he can make more money doesn't help anyone with mental health problems. Most of his co-stars don't even have any huge problems and have to exaggerate some minor thing to make it appear as if there is an actual reason they are on the show aside from appeasing the egomaniac.

r95, I worked with an actress who was a Scientologist and her father (who brought her up as one) died during our production. No tears, no comments, came back to work perky like nothing had happened. Maybe she didn't like her dad, but it was ultra weird to have her not seemingly affected by it, especially as she was going to stay with her parents after we wrapped (she was pregnant).

R137 States do not commit murders. People do. It's all about demographics. WHO is doing the killing.

They've already raised 61k. That's a lot of trips back and forth to L.A. from South Carolina for his mother and brothers should there be a trial and to settle his affairs.
I'm not a fan of these things unless it's an extreme situation but I did see that the actress who played his mom on GH Bonnie Burroughs donated and thought that was touching. She was genuinely upset when he was dropped from the show. In their last scene together, she had tears in her eyes and took his hand and that's when I knew they were going to kill him as the scene did not warrant her tears or such emotion.
Jordi Vilasuso also donated and I don't think he even knew him that well.

Jordi gets a few more slurps on his next suck job for his kindness.

The "ex-fiance" has come forward for her ATTENTION WHORE moment. I'm surprised SHE hasn't created a gofunder to help HER "cope".

Steal the whole damn car, rather than taking the time to detach the catalytic converter.
This whole trend to steal catalytic converters is so bizarre to me.

When Bonnie Burroughs, who played his mother, came on the show her character was extremely obnoxious. Immensely obnoxious. People were trashing her on social media mercilessly. Johnny took to twitter to tell people Bonnie was the sweetest, nicest person and NOTHING like her character.
I think this is why his co-stars are so upset, sounds like he really was a nice guy.

L.A. is expensive. But being a bartender instead of an escort seems odd to me. He was handsome and fit. He had zero dope vibe. He was definitely someone who could have made serious money. Sad.

Are you being serious, R150?
Not everyone looks to being a PAID WHORE to make money.
The fact that he was such a good guy, handsome, healthy, and fit are all reasons for him NOT to become an escort.
Being a bartender is a perfectly fine choice for work, when the acting roles dry up.
At least he was doing something respectable, and earned a decent living.

R151 Yes I was being serious. Working as an escort is a legitimate job that pays extremely well. Many escorts find a sugar daddy and regular client lists. You seem to have some skewed view of sex workers.. The "paid whores" who escort are either dopeheads or mentally ill, and they never make decent money. A bartender job is kind of low rent. Sorry. Just an opinion.

R137 - As was already pointed out, it's mainly the BLUE cities in RED/PURPLE states that spike the numbers. Stop spinning like a dervish, you come off as a deranged partisan.
