Whatever happened to the Dildo Beach killer???

I remember last year during the summer all anyone could talk about was Dildo Beach his and Dildo Beach that.

Now it’s all gone soft. I think they’re sitting on it, to be honest!

They just re-searched his house.

“5th day of Rex Heuermann's home search reveals more evidence”

Like police are going to tell reporters “we found more evidence.” Please.

Op, I and a friend texted about this case for years. I always called him the Dildo Beach killer. She always insinuated I was the killer. When he was finally captured, I texted her a screen shot of the NYPost cover with the caption, See! I told you it wasn't me!

I don’t understand why everyone is so obsessed with this case. It’s like so many other cases - sex workers getting killed by twisted sex fiends. Joel Rifkin, Green River killer, on and on.

A friend of my nephews found one of the skulls in a reserve in Manorville years ago. He claimed to reporters he was walking his dog but my sister said he was drinking and getting high in the woods. He saw the skull, went home, called police and returned to the spot with his camera. He took photos if the skull and tried to sell one to Newsday. Newsday was like, “Dude? We don’t print pictures of dead bodies or of skulls. Those are murder victims with families.”

Well having an active, uncaught serial killer, who was potentially a cop, located so close to where I live was certainly part of my interest. And now learning about the insanity that was going on amongst the Suffolk county police force that’s mind bogglingly interesting.

I went to high school across the bridge from Gilgo. We all used to go there on weekends, parking lot 4. It was popular with surfers. There is a small community, Oak Beach, across the bridge and some of my schoolmates lived there year round. I don’t consider it scary or important because some escorts were killed there. It’s sad because these girls came from lower income families who didn’t get them help. One definitely came from a family whose mother was a sex worker and had multiple children by unknown fathers. There really wasn’t anyone in her life to help her or guide her. But I’m not obsessed with her murder or any of the others, wanting to know the exact steps she took from the house she was at.

They were not looking for Shannon Gilbert when they found the bodies. That was the story the police came up with later. They were training a police dog and took it to the area because it’s got a lot of smells. Stagnant water, dead fish, dead animals, rotting vegetation. It’s a good training site. The cop training the dog stumbled on the remains of the first victim. They were shocked and had no idea there were bodies there - they weren’t looking for Gilbert or anyone else. Later on, when Newsday got contacted by family police revised and said, “Oh yeah, we were looking for a missing girl.”

My sister lived about a mile from where the skull was found in Manorville.

It’s also sad because he was likely still killing women and dumping the bodies elsewhere because of county corruption and incompetence.

I do find the story of James Burke and his bag of dildos kind of fascinating.
