Showtime made a Dexter prequel with Patrick Gibson in the title role

This sounds like a disaster.

Why would it be a disaster? Same show runner as the original.

Christian Slater looks great and deserves more (and better) work.

It does sound like a disaster and I detest cash grab prequels but my god, I'll watch anything with Patrick Gibson, he is so beautiful to look at. Have you seen his bod in the second season of Shadow and Bone?

OP = troll

I'll watch it. Can't be worse than both of the original series endings.

No network on earth beats a dead horse like Showtime. Have they ever had a show that they didn't completely run into the ground?

SMG on board.

Trailer. December 13th.

Gibson looks so good, hopefully we get lots of shirtless scenes. SMG officially looks old, which makes me feel old in turn.

lol at Patrick Dempsey with a mustache.

Anyone watch the first episode? To me, the casting is off.

I thought it was just okay. First half had some truly abysmal writing with Gibson comically acting out Hall's narration, but it got better later on. Having said that, the tone is exactly the same as in the early seasons of Dexter. Kinda ASMR-like – soothing but also boring. If you're into that, as I was back when Dexter first came out, you might enjoy this.

Gibson is wonderful but THANK GOD they got rid of that nasty wig by the end of the episode.

r10 Who bothered you? SMG sticks out for me, much as I love her.

By the way, "Dexter: Resurrection" premieres in June and I will not be watching that one, that's for sure. He needs to let it go already, this is getting outrageous now.
