Looks like it's a pretty typical pride parade and "festival" in Philly. I guess we'll walk through the gayborhood and see the booths.
How will you recognize or celebrate Pride 2024?
by Anonymous | reply 83 | June 9, 2024 8:48 PM |
I won't. Instead I'll no doubt listen to all the whinging right wingers claiming they "have no problem with gays but why do they all parade naked in front of children???" etc, despite the fact most people who go to Pride wear clothes (as the above photo attests).

I am waiting for the LGB pride. No interest in associating with the "TIQA+ " demographic that have given rise to the alt right gaining more power due to their public antics.

by Anonymous | reply 6 | May 23, 2024 12:16 PM |
I likely won’t be. Every time I’ve gone I didn’t feel it. It’s usually sensory overload and just not my thing.
by Anonymous | reply 7 | May 23, 2024 12:18 PM |
OP asks how you will "recognize" Pride 2024.
Oh, dear.
by Anonymous | reply 8 | May 23, 2024 12:42 PM |
I will kiss my husband and go about my normal routine. I used to love the Chicago Pride Parade when I lived there 20 years ago. Now where I live in a small city, the pride parade is a catch all of misfit toys and pathetic by anybody's standards.

I live in a rural area and the closest town to me has only started having a Pride event in 2022. It doesn't have any funding, so it's just a 'walk' around the town for about a mile that's marshalled by volunteers and then they go to a local bar for drinks (the bar hangs up a few rainbow flags).
I've never seen anyone scantily clad on the walk and it's not publicly funded, but on the local Facebook group every year the usual right wingers cry about it. "Be gay if you like, but why ram it down our throats?!", or "I don't want to see gays walking naked in the street", etc.
There's still so much ignorance out there and they fail to appreciate that their homophobic shit is exactly why Pride events persist.
by Anonymous | reply 11 | May 23, 2024 1:14 PM |
It won’t be hanging in Philly, that’s for damn sure. Yikes.

Hmm. You can't seem to decide if you're in the UK or not.
If you don't care about the LGB Alliance and its efforts to propagandize LGBTQs worldwide, then kindly direct your incoherent scorn at R3, who's the one promoting it on this thread.

It won’t be typical in Philly. Philly came up with that ridiculous black stripe rainbow flag. The LGBT city board is made up of all trannies and Jew haters. It’ll be one big Hamas celebration.

I’m gay but Pride is not for me. It’s turned into St Patty’s Day.
The city I used to work in, the parade had no gays aside from drag queens. The rest were straight politicians, local business owners, and a few fat queer teenagers with blue hair. All wearing rainbow shit. More of a celebration of straight liberals demonstrating how progressive they are.
Again, not for me.

St. Pete has a [bold]huge[/bold] Pride parade, and I lived relatively close to part of the route, so I usually went. In fact, some years, I rode my motorcycle in the front of the parade with a slew of lesbians who had no clue how to ride in a parade. If you don't know what I mean, watch the police ride in a parade sometime -- they positively [italic]crawl[/italic], which is one of the hardest things to do on a motorcycle.
Anyway! I'm sure you can imagine how hot it was...and will be again. Blazing hot sun, ridiculous crowds. I'm sure if you're the type who loves sweat and its accompanying smells, you'd love it.
Orlando's Pride celebration is on National Coming Out Day in October, which makes a lot more sense here in sunny Florida. I've been to that one a couple of times, but not for years.
So no, I won't be doing anything. I've been out since I was a freshman in high school, and for my entire life, even though it radically effected my jobs/opportunities. I live my pride every day, so to me a parade is somewhat redundant.

I will be flying the most inclusive version of the Pride flag ever.
Note that one panel of the otherwise red umbrella (which represents sex workers) shows the colors of the disability flag, while the purple and yellow circles represent the intersex community!

by Anonymous | reply 53 | May 26, 2024 3:05 AM |
Perhaps I fly a gray ace flag, perhaps I don’t. I’m neutral to mostly everything really. It’s usually not very relatable to me at all. Especially now that it’s commercialized and as easy to find as a Walgreens.

Everybody be careful if you go to a pride event, particularly the big ones. Lots of chatter about domestic terrorism at a pride event on the level of the attack in Russia by ISIS. I know. MARY. But be aware of your surroundings and look for exits, etc.
by Anonymous | reply 59 | May 26, 2024 1:16 PM |
chatter is meaningless
by Anonymous | reply 60 | May 26, 2024 1:19 PM |
R59, that is a good advice anywhere for many reasons, not just terrorism. Pride participants aren't high value targets at the moment. They will attack Jews, Jewish venues and the mainstream, non-muslim population. This is practically inevitable.
by Anonymous | reply 61 | May 26, 2024 1:26 PM |
I feel like all these “warnings” of terrorism is a way of people. Trying to make sure Pride doesn’t happen.

by Anonymous | reply 69 | May 26, 2024 3:12 PM |
If terrorism is a concern, and it shouldn't be, Prides, parades and other large events are probably the safest places to be what with all the protect. You are more likely to get napalmed on the subway going or coming.

First on the calendar is June 1st, when we'll join our little town's city commission in the Pride flag raising. I'll see what else we do later in the month from the list of events. Meanwhile, our condo people will be putting up their flags and we'll celebrate here.
This is Dunedin, FL.

You are not at all off as far as the data. As far as GenZ a least the T outnumber gay males. And the B outnumbers them all by a lot. And the Q and the +++ is rising in numbers.
Maybe it should be sensible (and a big money maker) and flags should be treated exactly like hankeys. Everyone gets their own flag . And if you want to fly more than one flag then have at it.
Flags for fucking everyone
