How will you recognize or celebrate Pride 2024?

Looks like it's a pretty typical pride parade and "festival" in Philly. I guess we'll walk through the gayborhood and see the booths.

I won't. Instead I'll no doubt listen to all the whinging right wingers claiming they "have no problem with gays but why do they all parade naked in front of children???" etc, despite the fact most people who go to Pride wear clothes (as the above photo attests).

I am waiting for the LGB pride. No interest in associating with the "TIQA+ " demographic that have given rise to the alt right gaining more power due to their public antics.

by Anonymousreply 3May 23, 2024 12:02 PM

too many queers not enough gays.

by Anonymousreply 4May 23, 2024 12:05 PM

I know *I* won’t be there, I left that trash heap as soon as I could

by Anonymousreply 5May 23, 2024 12:07 PM

I’ll probably munch on some twink’s taint for a time.

by Anonymousreply 6May 23, 2024 12:16 PM

I likely won’t be. Every time I’ve gone I didn’t feel it. It’s usually sensory overload and just not my thing.

by Anonymousreply 7May 23, 2024 12:18 PM

OP asks how you will "recognize" Pride 2024.

Oh, dear.

by Anonymousreply 8May 23, 2024 12:42 PM

I will kiss my husband and go about my normal routine. I used to love the Chicago Pride Parade when I lived there 20 years ago. Now where I live in a small city, the pride parade is a catch all of misfit toys and pathetic by anybody's standards.

by Anonymousreply 9May 23, 2024 12:49 PM

R9 The “blue hair” crowd. 🤢

by Anonymousreply 10May 23, 2024 12:56 PM

I live in a rural area and the closest town to me has only started having a Pride event in 2022. It doesn't have any funding, so it's just a 'walk' around the town for about a mile that's marshalled by volunteers and then they go to a local bar for drinks (the bar hangs up a few rainbow flags).

I've never seen anyone scantily clad on the walk and it's not publicly funded, but on the local Facebook group every year the usual right wingers cry about it. "Be gay if you like, but why ram it down our throats?!", or "I don't want to see gays walking naked in the street", etc.

There's still so much ignorance out there and they fail to appreciate that their homophobic shit is exactly why Pride events persist.

by Anonymousreply 11May 23, 2024 1:14 PM

It won’t be hanging in Philly, that’s for damn sure. Yikes.

And those pushing the 'LGB' propaganda are not, and never will be, 'the majority of us.'

No one in the US cares how the Brits interpret all things gay.

by Anonymousreply 15May 23, 2024 2:01 PM
R15: No one in the US cares how the Brits interpret all things gay.

Well, you don't seem to have a clue that R3 was promoting their astroturfed bullshit, and pretending to represent the majority of gays.

by Anonymousreply 16May 23, 2024 2:05 PM

Sorry my native tongue not English. Doesn't philly mean horse?

by Anonymousreply 17May 23, 2024 2:09 PM

Again no one cares about how it might be fined in the UK—

This is the UK, and one or two mutters on the DL aren’t relevant. Don’t project that shit on to us—thanks.

Biting my pillow.

by Anonymousreply 20May 23, 2024 2:18 PM

R17 that is filly, this is a nickname for Philadelphia.

NYer here, will skip the various Pride celebrations around the city because they are all too crowded.

by Anonymousreply 21May 23, 2024 2:24 PM
R18: Again no one cares about how it might be fined in the UK—This is the UK, and one or two mutters on the DL aren’t relevant. Don’t project that shit on to us—thanks.

Hmm. You can't seem to decide if you're in the UK or not.

If you don't care about the LGB Alliance and its efforts to propagandize LGBTQs worldwide, then kindly direct your incoherent scorn at R3, who's the one promoting it on this thread.

by Anonymousreply 22May 23, 2024 3:06 PM

It won’t be typical in Philly. Philly came up with that ridiculous black stripe rainbow flag. The LGBT city board is made up of all trannies and Jew haters. It’ll be one big Hamas celebration.

by Anonymousreply 23May 23, 2024 3:37 PM

Pride parades have nothing to do with gays.

by Anonymousreply 24May 23, 2024 3:38 PM
The position you're taking marks 𝑦𝑜𝑢 as one of the alt right, or simply far right.

And? The alt Right then doesn’t hate gays, whites, women or children.

by Anonymousreply 25May 23, 2024 3:39 PM

Don’t forget Jews. Thr alt Left hates Jews with a passion.

by Anonymousreply 26May 23, 2024 3:39 PM

The queers are already saying that if an attack happens at Pride parades, Zionists are the culprits.

by Anonymousreply 27May 23, 2024 3:40 PM

It is not propagandizing the world. It’s on a tiny island of misfits that we all ignore. Take your poison somewhere else.

by Anonymousreply 28May 23, 2024 4:01 PM

Enjoy it while it’s around. With control of all branches of government possibly in the hands of Republicans for the foreseeable future, taking away our freedom is their mission. They had no problem taking away abortion rights. We’re a lot less popular.

by Anonymousreply 29May 23, 2024 4:03 PM

Heading to Gaza with a bunch of my BFF Queers for Palestine kweens. We're gonna eat ass all weekend!

by Anonymousreply 30May 24, 2024 9:30 PM

I’m gay but Pride is not for me. It’s turned into St Patty’s Day.

The city I used to work in, the parade had no gays aside from drag queens. The rest were straight politicians, local business owners, and a few fat queer teenagers with blue hair. All wearing rainbow shit. More of a celebration of straight liberals demonstrating how progressive they are.

Again, not for me.

by Anonymousreply 31May 24, 2024 9:42 PM

I’m guessing Boston’s Pride activities will again be curtailed due to infighting among the dykes, trans, and BIPOCs, with the unpleasantries in Israel adding some special sauce.

by Anonymousreply 32May 24, 2024 10:03 PM

fucking cunts

by Anonymousreply 33May 25, 2024 1:59 AM

I’m pretty introverted and prefer to get my June Pride fix here on Datalounge.

In my twenties, I went every year.

by Anonymousreply 34May 25, 2024 6:19 AM

Do they have prides that are focused on one identity or is it always alphabet soup? Is there even such thing as a bisexual pride or lesbian pride or an asexual pride?

by Anonymousreply 35May 25, 2024 6:35 AM

St. Pete has a [bold]huge[/bold] Pride parade, and I lived relatively close to part of the route, so I usually went. In fact, some years, I rode my motorcycle in the front of the parade with a slew of lesbians who had no clue how to ride in a parade. If you don't know what I mean, watch the police ride in a parade sometime -- they positively [italic]crawl[/italic], which is one of the hardest things to do on a motorcycle.

Anyway! I'm sure you can imagine how hot it was...and will be again. Blazing hot sun, ridiculous crowds. I'm sure if you're the type who loves sweat and its accompanying smells, you'd love it.

Orlando's Pride celebration is on National Coming Out Day in October, which makes a lot more sense here in sunny Florida. I've been to that one a couple of times, but not for years.

So no, I won't be doing anything. I've been out since I was a freshman in high school, and for my entire life, even though it radically effected my jobs/opportunities. I live my pride every day, so to me a parade is somewhat redundant.

by Anonymousreply 43May 25, 2024 2:44 PM

No one asked about FL.

by Anonymousreply 44May 25, 2024 3:44 PM
It’s turned into St Patty’s Day.

It's "Paddy."

Please don't say "Patty." It wounds.

by Anonymousreply 45May 25, 2024 4:01 PM

I'm so tired of "pride" and rainbows and equal signs. I just don't want to be gay anymore; it's so 90s.

Do you want my itinerary for the whole month, OP?

by Anonymousreply 47May 26, 2024 1:56 AM

I’m going to find new way each day to find how Marsha P Johnson changed the world. I’ll be excited to find out what happened on the 7th day.

by Anonymousreply 48May 26, 2024 2:19 AM

R48, she rested.

by Anonymousreply 49May 26, 2024 2:21 AM

I don’t really enjoy Pride. I don’t think I’ve really liked it since I was in college. Too crowded, too hot, too boring ( ugh, all those corporations and their boring ass employees).

So rather than be a spoiler and complain all day, I do something else.

by Anonymousreply 50May 26, 2024 2:46 AM

To everything there is a season and the season of my life when Pride was a biggie is over.

by Anonymousreply 51May 26, 2024 2:58 AM

I will be flying the most inclusive version of the Pride flag ever.

Note that one panel of the otherwise red umbrella (which represents sex workers) shows the colors of the disability flag, while the purple and yellow circles represent the intersex community!

by Anonymousreply 52May 26, 2024 3:00 AM

R48 the first PRIDE parade was in LA, not NYC.

by Anonymousreply 53May 26, 2024 3:05 AM

Perhaps I fly a gray ace flag, perhaps I don’t. I’m neutral to mostly everything really. It’s usually not very relatable to me at all. Especially now that it’s commercialized and as easy to find as a Walgreens.

by Anonymousreply 54May 26, 2024 3:08 AM

I used to enjoy taking part in Gay Pride events, but now that they're just celebrating "Pride", I don't much bother!

It was all much better when it was just a weekend, nobody needs this for a whole month!

by Anonymousreply 55May 26, 2024 4:32 AM

The same thing my dog does on the 4th of July, hid in my bathtub. It is just so over blown.

by Anonymousreply 56May 26, 2024 12:03 PM

I’m going to coke out on Tina

by Anonymousreply 57May 26, 2024 12:20 PM

I don’t recognize it for the simple reason that it’s not Gay Pride anymore.

by Anonymousreply 58May 26, 2024 12:50 PM

Everybody be careful if you go to a pride event, particularly the big ones. Lots of chatter about domestic terrorism at a pride event on the level of the attack in Russia by ISIS. I know. MARY. But be aware of your surroundings and look for exits, etc.

by Anonymousreply 59May 26, 2024 1:16 PM

chatter is meaningless

by Anonymousreply 60May 26, 2024 1:19 PM

R59, that is a good advice anywhere for many reasons, not just terrorism. Pride participants aren't high value targets at the moment. They will attack Jews, Jewish venues and the mainstream, non-muslim population. This is practically inevitable.

by Anonymousreply 61May 26, 2024 1:26 PM

I feel like all these “warnings” of terrorism is a way of people. Trying to make sure Pride doesn’t happen.

by Anonymousreply 62May 26, 2024 1:28 PM

I agree, it's meaningless

by Anonymousreply 63May 26, 2024 1:55 PM

R52, I saw one the other day that had added a symbol for puppy play. It never ends.

by Anonymousreply 64May 26, 2024 2:02 PM

Stand for the flag, kneel for the cock.

by Anonymousreply 65May 26, 2024 2:07 PM

I wonder if Pride in the larger cities have any type of minimal covering dress codes like no butt cheeks showing and more than just pasties for those in and out of the parade.

by Anonymousreply 66May 26, 2024 2:36 PM

Fuck you R48 what about ME!!!!!!

by Anonymousreply 67May 26, 2024 2:42 PM

You weren't at Stonewall either, Sylvia.

by Anonymousreply 68May 26, 2024 3:08 PM

I knew a lesbian who just had to ride on the mattress float in the Pride Parade, nipples to the wind and making out with all the other bare-breasted dykes.

Then she transitioned.

by Anonymousreply 69May 26, 2024 3:12 PM

If terrorism is a concern, and it shouldn't be, Prides, parades and other large events are probably the safest places to be what with all the protect. You are more likely to get napalmed on the subway going or coming.

by Anonymousreply 70May 26, 2024 3:27 PM

First on the calendar is June 1st, when we'll join our little town's city commission in the Pride flag raising. I'll see what else we do later in the month from the list of events. Meanwhile, our condo people will be putting up their flags and we'll celebrate here.

This is Dunedin, FL.

by Anonymousreply 71May 26, 2024 4:40 PM

What have you done today to make me feel proud

by Anonymousreply 72May 27, 2024 12:14 PM

You are not at all off as far as the data. As far as GenZ a least the T outnumber gay males. And the B outnumbers them all by a lot. And the Q and the +++ is rising in numbers.

Maybe it should be sensible (and a big money maker) and flags should be treated exactly like hankeys. Everyone gets their own flag . And if you want to fly more than one flag then have at it.

Flags for fucking everyone

by Anonymousreply 73May 27, 2024 12:33 PM

How wonderful, R71! I haven't been to Dunedin in a zillion years, but I always loved it there.

Isn't that DeSatan's hometown? You better watch out -- you might piss him off, and he'll have to come over there in his white booties and give y'all the what for!

by Anonymousreply 74May 27, 2024 1:16 PM

R74, yes, but he won't show his face here. It's virtually a unified front here.

by Anonymousreply 75May 27, 2024 6:31 PM

R74, yes, Gandy's, still marvelous.

by Anonymousreply 76May 27, 2024 6:32 PM
