Progressives Routed In Oregon’s Democratic Primary As Jayapal’s Sister And Portland’s DA Rejected
The sister of Congressional Progressive Caucus Chairwoman Rep. Pramila Jayapal (D-WA) lost her Democratic congressional primary in Oregon on Tuesday night, in which progressive candidates in general stumbled at the ballot box.
Oregon state Rep. Maxine Dexter (D) easily beat Susheela Jayapal with 51 percent of the vote to 29 percent – despite Jayapal having the backing of ‘Squad’ members like Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY), Rashida Tlaib (D-MI), Ilhan Omar (D-MN), Ayanna Pressley (D-MA) and Jamaal Bowman (D-NY).
Multnomah County’s progressive Soros DA Mike Schmidt, who serves the Portland area, also appeared to be set to lose reelection to tough-on-crime candidate Nathan Vasquez — a former Republican. As of midday Wednesday Vasquez was leading 56 to 44 with 63 percent of the vote counted. Progressive policies on crime are just the latest part of the movement’s platform to be repudiated in Oregon this year as the state repealed its three-year-old law decriminalizing drug possession for personal use back in March.

The article is stretching the facts. It’s her sister and all the dummy commies will still be in power.

Because even Datalounge is sick of the bullshit, R7.
And no, that doesn't make us Republicans, either.

Thank God. I live in that district.

The Squad is the worst possible set of representation to make progressive causes appealing to the mainstream. Thus, they have a lot of suspect funding and tons of corporate media coverage.

Jesus Chrysler, Jayapal is one homely bitch. And I like her. But man.

The drug policy is not bad. Some EU nations did it and it was messy in the beginning but it got sorted out.

I live in a smaller but “progressive” city and it’s hell in a handbasket. Nothing ever gets done, crime is rampant and the touristy area is getting overrun by screaming junkies.
Congrats, Portland.

I think these rash 'woke' policies from progressives in recent years are going to be overturned with a vengeance by decade's end.
Like when Ancient Egyptians got rid of Atenism immediately after the death of Pharaoh Akhenaten (c. 14th century BCE) who had enforced the new, monotheistic religion on his subjects despite their objections/pleas..
They hated him so much for it that Akhenaten was erased from history and was only rediscovered in the last century upon the discovery of his son Tutankhamun's famous tomb.

Schmidt conceded the race to Vasquez just after 7 pm ET Wednesday as the tally showed the challenger was up an insurmountable 54-45 percent.
Soros DA Chesa Boudin (San Fran): Out

They should bus the drug addicts from Kensington to City Hall and Rittenhouse Square and Washington Square in Philly.
Let the wealthy voters and Krasner have a taste of what they inflict on middle class and working class residents.

R14 Funny you don’t name that “small progressive hellhole” so we can fact check your crime stats. Fuck off conservative Nazi scum.
Some small rural towns are meth filled hellholes and vote 90% Republican.
