The cognitive dissonance of Polanski..both of these movies capture how terrifying it is to be a woman.

I watched both of these films several years ago when I was working my way through a Roman Polanski phase while in college. I happened to like both movies.
Although he’s problematic as a person and what he did back in 1977 was pretty reprehensible, I won’t deny that the man has made some really good films.

OP doesn't know what "cognitive dissonance" means.
Although she embodies it.

Seems like an acceptable use of cognitive dissonance to me.

It sucks about Roman and what he’s done because his films are so good.

Repulsion is a fantastic film. Really love it. I’ve also been obsessed with Deneuve and she really shines here.
It’s almost a silent film role. There are, of course, fantastic sound effects throughout, but Deneuve barely speaks over the course of the movie. She’s required to Norma Desmond her way through the thing, and you would think her extreme beauty would work against her in a case like that, but Deneuve really pulls it off.
