Although the U.S. state has good food, too, I mean the country.
They have some wild flavor combinations and exotic dips and sauces. Very vegetable-forward.

I've never had it.

Is this a walnut troll?

R3, I'll accept that title. Walnuts must really originate from this region of the world -- they use so much of it in their cooking!

I've had Adjaruli - there's a kiosk at The Original Farmers Market that sells it. Other Georgian foods look great, too like the Ostri and several cheese-laden dishes.

R5, I love khachapurri (I'm sure I butchered that spelling)>

Yes, I love Georgian food. There is a restaurant in DC, Supra, that is very good.

When I visited Russia a few years ago (before the war), I went out to a couple of Georgian restaurants, I got the impression that it's the go-to ethnic food for Russians, like a Chinese or Italian for Americans. Yes, it's very good!

I'm allergic to eggs. I'm allergic to dairy.
This is what I crave, forbidden food of the Georgian culinary gods

I want to try Khinkali! Dumplings with meat inside? Look amazing.
by Anonymous | reply 12 | May 16, 2024 1:28 AM |
It all looks so delicious.

I have a good friend from Tbilisi - I’ll have to ask her about the cuisine. She did once show me a picture of their Easter treats and they looked magnificent.

R8, I'm starting to believe that Georgian food is the best cuisine that Americans don't know about.
by Anonymous | reply 15 | May 16, 2024 1:36 AM |
R14, try it. It's delicious, very fresh and herb-forward!
by Anonymous | reply 16 | May 16, 2024 2:04 AM |
It does look good.

Thank you so much, all [blushes].

Hi Georgia!

I visited Bratislava in Slovakia a few years ago. The hotel recommended a Georgian restaurant nearby. We ended up going every night, the food was delicious.
I have read that during Soviet times, Georgian food was considered the best in the whole Soviet Union.

Shila Plavi -- Georgia's answer to risotto, with lots of caraway and sheep's milk cheese.

I love shrimp and grits and peach pie!

Great thread!
Any recommended Georgian restaurants in the US?
by Anonymous | reply 26 | May 16, 2024 4:18 PM |
I loved the food when I was in Atlanta.
by Anonymous | reply 27 | May 16, 2024 4:19 PM |
I might have been there myself, R7.
Wasn’t impressed. Not much to choose from.

It looks like pussy

What could one expect under the umbrella rule directed from Moscow, r28?
by Anonymous | reply 33 | May 17, 2024 1:14 AM |
R28, yeah, that's a shame. But it also occurred to me that if I only eat food(s) from countries with stellar gay rights records, I'd either starve or be eating very bland food. Oy.

R26, Khinkali House in Glendale, CA is not a bad place to try out soup dumplings.

Yes indeed, we too use "cookies." Take a look at our privacy/terms or if you just want to see the damn site without all this bureaucratic nonsense, click ACCEPT. Otherwise, you'll just have to find some other site for your pointless bitchery needs.
