No

by Anonymousreply 3May 15, 2024 5:52 PM

Looks fancy.

by Anonymousreply 4May 15, 2024 5:55 PM

I never saw the stage musical, so I have no idea what it's about.

by Anonymousreply 5May 15, 2024 5:55 PM

Never fear, R5. Many said the same thing after reading the original novel. Brilliant premise, but a crashing bore to read. Winnie Holzman's stage adaptation was truly marvelous. She managed to retain everything that was good from the novel, and bury the rest. I don't know if the filmmakers used her (or her work) but they would be absolute fools not to. Her libretto is the reason that show is still running. Schwartz's score is fine, but it's the story and storytelling that made the show a sensation.

by Anonymousreply 6May 15, 2024 6:20 PM

Who is that playing the Wicked Witch?

I want to say Jennifer Hudson, but I don't think it's her.

by Anonymousreply 7May 15, 2024 6:24 PM

Why do their faces look distorted?

It almost looks like CGI.

by Anonymousreply 8May 15, 2024 6:33 PM

We needed a tenth thread on Wicked trailers?

by Anonymousreply 9May 15, 2024 6:36 PM

Is Adele Dazeem in this?

by Anonymousreply 10May 15, 2024 6:38 PM

I can't stand Ariana Grande.

She and that Michelle Yo bitch seem to be in everything nowdays.

Enough of them!

by Anonymousreply 11May 15, 2024 6:41 PM

R7 That is THE Cynthia Erivo.

by Anonymousreply 12May 15, 2024 6:41 PM

[quote]Brilliant premise, but a crashing bore to read.

In your opinion, r6.

by Anonymousreply 13May 15, 2024 6:45 PM

[quote]Who is that playing the Wicked Witch?

British actress who frightened Mandy Patinkin and got a Broadway musical shut down over a non-existent racial issue.

by Anonymousreply 14May 15, 2024 6:49 PM

[quote] That is THE Cynthia Erivo

She looks a lot like Jennifer Hudson.

Jennifer is tall, about 5 feet 11 inches, so I was wondering why she was matching up to shorty little Ariana Grande's height.

Jennifer Hudson might have made a good Wicked Witch.

by Anonymousreply 15May 15, 2024 7:12 PM

Aren't they releasing this in two parts?

by Anonymousreply 16May 15, 2024 7:15 PM

No, R16.

That's Dune.

by Anonymousreply 17May 15, 2024 7:18 PM

Is this a Harry Potter spinoff?

by Anonymousreply 18May 15, 2024 7:31 PM

Why is the trailer out now, if it doesn't open until Thanksgiving?

It's way too early.

by Anonymousreply 19May 15, 2024 7:31 PM

No, r18. FYI, both deal with witchcraft though.

by Anonymousreply 20May 15, 2024 7:33 PM

I don’t care for fairy tale movies.

by Anonymousreply 21May 15, 2024 7:41 PM

[quote]I don’t care for fairy tale movies.

Obviously it's not the movie for you, r21. Personally, I'm not into westerns.

by Anonymousreply 22May 15, 2024 7:43 PM

It's not easy being green.

by Anonymousreply 23May 15, 2024 8:01 PM

But, r23, it *is* lucrative.

by Anonymousreply 24May 15, 2024 8:08 PM

I refuse to watch any movie with that ugly Bowen creature in it.

Hollywood his trying to shove his DEI twat down our throats, and I won't have it.

He can go fuck himself.

by Anonymousreply 25May 15, 2024 8:08 PM

[quote]I refuse to watch any movie with that ugly Bowen creature in it.

You do you, r25.

by Anonymousreply 26May 15, 2024 8:10 PM

Miss R25 Has Stated Her Boundaries!

by Anonymousreply 27May 15, 2024 8:42 PM

Did Ariana snag her brother a part as a winged monkey?

by Anonymousreply 28May 15, 2024 8:56 PM

Lol R28.

He's got the part!

Needs more Jonty.

by Anonymousreply 30May 15, 2024 9:04 PM

Is the blonde girl kind of a Barbie like character? She seems kind of snobbish and spoiled.

by Anonymousreply 31May 15, 2024 9:06 PM

You nailed it, r31.

by Anonymousreply 32May 15, 2024 9:08 PM

Did they mix Grandes speaking voice on purpose sounding like a speed up mouse?

by Anonymousreply 33May 15, 2024 9:40 PM

It seems like they did a lot of digital alterations with the actors' voices and faces.

The trailer looked like a mix of real life and CGI.

by Anonymousreply 34May 15, 2024 10:04 PM

It's a freaking fantasy world, so what? This isn't Les Miz.

by Anonymousreply 35May 15, 2024 10:21 PM

Ariana Grande looks like a midget in this movie.

by Anonymousreply 36May 15, 2024 11:30 PM

I will catch it when it streams for Jonathan Bailey and Michelle Yeoh alone.

by Anonymousreply 37May 15, 2024 11:37 PM

Can Cynthia Erivo sing?

by Anonymousreply 38May 16, 2024 12:22 AM

I posted this in the other thread: The show itself is terrible. I saw it with the original Broadway cast and it was just meh even with Joel Grey as the Wizard. The movie will end with "Defying Gravity" just like act one of the show. Act 2 was slow. For some reason the songs just don't resonate. When it opened in San Francisco pre Broadway it was 4 hours long. The book is so different and worth a read. The sequels have gay content too. Elphaba was a terrorist and the wizard was a dictator and caused genocide with the animal people and the munchkins. In the books Glinda is barely a character on the periphery. Joe Mantello has been collecting a big paycheck all these years so he can have his twinks.

by Anonymousreply 39May 16, 2024 12:41 AM

I don't think there has been a musical with really good songs, since LaLa Land.

And before that, Hairspray.

by Anonymousreply 40May 16, 2024 12:45 AM

[quote] No, [R16]. That's Dune.

No, “Wicked” is also a two-part film.

“Wicked: Part 2” will be released November 26, 2025.

Is Dorothy in this movie?

by Anonymousreply 42May 16, 2024 12:55 AM

Four words: Big screen and edibles

by Anonymousreply 43May 16, 2024 2:39 AM

[quote]Did they mix Grandes speaking voice on purpose sounding like a speed up mouse?

She's trying to sound like Kristen Chenoweth. And pretty successfully.

You know, I wasn't expecting much, but that's a solid trailer.

by Anonymousreply 44May 16, 2024 2:47 AM

[quote]Is Dorothy in this movie?

No, but Blanche, Rose, and Sophia have cameos.

by Anonymousreply 45May 16, 2024 2:49 AM

What character does Jonathan Bailey play?

by Anonymousreply 46May 16, 2024 4:45 AM

R46 Fieorello, Black chicks boyfriend.

by Anonymousreply 47May 16, 2024 5:05 AM

it will follow in the tradition of stage successes transferred to film: Rent, The Producers, Cats, In the Heights, The Phantom of the Opera, Rock of Ages, The Color Purple . . .

by Anonymousreply 48May 16, 2024 5:08 AM

I would love to have seen Michelle Williams and Mila Kunis reprise their roles as Glinda and the WWW.

They're both so gorgeous.

R49 is blind.

by Anonymousreply 50May 16, 2024 11:04 AM

[quote][R46] Fieorello, Black chicks boyfriend.

His name is FIYERO.

by Anonymousreply 51May 16, 2024 11:54 AM

I also think what we hear of “Defying Gravity” sounds great. Cynthia Erivo has a lot more technical control than Adele Dazeem.

by Anonymousreply 52May 17, 2024 11:41 PM

R7 The bitch whole stole my role for the Harriet Tubman biopic.
