How does one billion dollars disappear?

While New York prosecutors drum up charges about loan application valuations and a private hundred grand from a Cheeto to pornstar, somehow they have turned a blind eye to a billion dollars disappearing from their own city. Funny how that works. Welcome to the age of one-sided political judicial persecutions and hypocrisy.

Thank you for bringing us this urgent news from 2019.

by Anonymousreply 1May 15, 2024 2:00 PM

I spent it on this here giant candelabra ring. It shiny and it shoot flame.

by Anonymousreply 2May 15, 2024 2:04 PM

If you read the article, the $1 billion was not entirely a new expenditure, it was a mix of rebranding spending over a period of years on some already existing programs (which continued) and some new programs that never got off the ground (and thus were never funded).

by Anonymousreply 3May 15, 2024 2:07 PM

R3 nice try, while partially correct… lots of the money spent is unaccounted for…

by Anonymousreply 4May 15, 2024 2:11 PM

How much money is “unaccounted for?” Nowhere near the billion OP claims is “missing.”

by Anonymousreply 5May 15, 2024 2:13 PM

Cheetoh should have been in jail for fraud in the 1970s. Far from being persecuted, he has skated on illegal conduct for fifty years.

by Anonymousreply 6May 15, 2024 2:15 PM

R5 about $220M is completely unaccounted for

The article OP posted does not say any money is “unaccounted for.” It questions the efficacy of some programs and points out that others were never launched. A political and administrative failure, but not embezzlement.

by Anonymousreply 8May 15, 2024 2:19 PM

In Tennessee and Mississippi, republican legislators lose more than that in any given year, like the $2 million earmarked for the poor that they gave to a professional football player.

by Anonymousreply 9May 15, 2024 2:19 PM

Not to mention the $1 trillion that your buddy Paul Bremer misplaced in Baghdad.

by Anonymousreply 10May 15, 2024 2:20 PM

$7 trillion was spent to build an air force to defend the United States which simply could not be found anywhere on September 11, 2001. There were no planes, no pilots, no missiles, nothing.

by Anonymousreply 11May 15, 2024 2:21 PM

A couple trillion were lost at the Pentagon and auditors were looking for it when a passenger jet (really a cruise missile) hit their offices.

by Anonymousreply 12May 15, 2024 2:22 PM

Again, r7, you are reading in something that isn’t there. There is a discrepancy in two attempts to sum up which city programs are considered part of the Thrive initiative. The point of the inquiry is to assess the effectiveness of the program. The discrepancy is not “missing money’ in the sense that it came out of NYC’s bank accounts and disappeared without a trace.

by Anonymousreply 13May 15, 2024 2:24 PM

Only in New York, kids, only in New York.

by Anonymousreply 14May 15, 2024 2:28 PM

deBlasio and his wife were stealth Republicans.

by Anonymousreply 15May 15, 2024 2:30 PM

Certainly not Cindy.

The US has become easily as corrupt as Argentina, Brazil, and Venezuela

by Anonymousreply 16May 15, 2024 2:30 PM

There is NO missing money.

by Anonymousreply 17May 15, 2024 2:31 PM

[Quote] Welcome to the age of one-sided political judicial persecutions and hypocrisy.

You mean like people who claim to be the REAL Americans, then try to overthrow the government when their candidate loses, Defacto?

You’re not very good at this whataboutism game, defacto. Maybe go to Russia which has the form of government you want, and study it there for a while? Give it ten years.

by Anonymousreply 18May 15, 2024 2:32 PM

Crooks. They should all be in jail. All those programs are bullshit anyway. None of the money makes enough of an impact on those in need. Stop all this grifting.

by Anonymousreply 19May 15, 2024 2:37 PM

Well that's what conservatives said about all social work and guess what, we are paying for that today now that sociopathy has become endemic among the young.

by Anonymousreply 20May 15, 2024 2:39 PM

Why are people giving OP, a raving Trumptard, so much attention?

Go away, Trumptard. Go away.

by Anonymousreply 21May 15, 2024 2:41 PM

I just can’t believe how stupid the Trumptards are. You can tell them anything and attach an article that completely contradicts what you tell them which, of course, they will not read and just assume it supports the claim they want to believe.

by Anonymousreply 22May 15, 2024 3:00 PM

R22 the money is unaccounted for. You’re an idiot and will cover up anything for progressives

by Anonymousreply 23May 15, 2024 3:02 PM

Why are you looking at us?

by Anonymousreply 24May 15, 2024 3:03 PM

Evidence, r22?

by Anonymousreply 25May 15, 2024 3:07 PM

^r23?

by Anonymousreply 26May 15, 2024 3:08 PM

Ordinary reading comprehension is a lost arrt, which is ironic considering how much time these Trumptards spend online "reading."

by Anonymousreply 27May 15, 2024 3:11 PM

[quote] In Tennessee and Mississippi, republican legislators lose more than that in any given year

Nice try, hon.

by Anonymousreply 28May 15, 2024 3:39 PM

[quote] $7 trillion was spent to build an air force to defend the United States which simply could not be found anywhere on September 11, 2001. There were no planes, no pilots, no missiles, nothing.

Wrong thread, retard.

by Anonymousreply 29May 15, 2024 3:40 PM

So, no evidence? What a surprise.

by Anonymousreply 30May 15, 2024 3:41 PM

R21 He's ahead in every poll. What's your plan if he wins? Keep stamping your feet and pretending? I seriously want to hear from one of our smart, strategic Dems on here as to how Biden can win. A big win. Not squeaking by to the point where it takes months to know who won and every Rethug contests it. What is the fucking plan?

by Anonymousreply 31May 15, 2024 8:26 PM

Also OP:

*Biden proposes 2 debates with Trump, ditching bipartisan commission*

[quote]It’s amazing the hypocrisy

[quote]They want to lock up Don Jr. for doing a line of coke, but perfectly fine with the millions Hunter gets from all sorts of nefarious foreign sources
