Artists who want to perfect their craft have plenty of resources through which to do so and can decide if they want to use them. If not, that's their folly or wisdom, but for another artist to give unsolicited advice is, at least among writers, NOT DONE. EVER.

I think Sarah could have raised the topic about getting notes from the prior actress, but treated it like something sweet and charming, if a bit odd. Sarah and Trish would have both been elevated, and Sarah still wouldn't have needed to take Trish seriously. This would also achieve the result of check-mating her mother.
