Was/is your parent bisexual?

I always suspected it with my dad but I could never prove it. I would never bring up the subject either after I came out to him, nor did he.

by Anonymousreply 31May 12, 2024 11:38 PM

OP, I did your dad in the men's room at Home Depot.

by Anonymousreply 1May 11, 2024 9:20 PM

No but I am

by Anonymousreply 2May 11, 2024 9:49 PM

My dad was, given his porn collection.

by Anonymousreply 3May 11, 2024 10:22 PM

I wondered....when I told my mom I was gay, she said something to the affect that all people have those thoughts. I wondered but her and her second husband seemed very much in love.

by Anonymousreply 4May 11, 2024 10:43 PM

My dad said the same thing r4.

by Anonymousreply 5May 11, 2024 11:01 PM

^ maybe both were on the spectrum. Everything was so black and white before.

by Anonymousreply 6May 11, 2024 11:46 PM

Possible

by Anonymousreply 7May 11, 2024 11:56 PM

My mother says she is but I think she's more predatory and opportunistic

by Anonymousreply 8May 12, 2024 1:05 AM

My father said homosexuality was impossible. It would be like a man being in love with a rock. Incomprehensible to him.

by Anonymousreply 9May 12, 2024 1:09 AM

When I got caught with another boy both my parents made a point of saying everyone was bisexual. It was the 70s .

by Anonymousreply 10May 12, 2024 1:12 AM

I have been in a long lasting fuckbuddy friendship relationship with a guy who now defines himself as bisexual and polyamorous. When I met him, he was conflicted about his feelings for men, but now he isn't and regularly has sex with men, is on Prep and Doxy, etc.

I met him before he met his wife, and before he became a dad. We're friends outside the bedroom who still have great sex, and neither of us have ever made any secret of having other partners, in his case both male and female. Mainly, he's just a horndog.

The women he cheats on his wife with seem to never last too long because they want emotional attachment and want the relationship to go somewhere in the traditional way, i.e. leave the wife and marry the mistress. That won't happen.

The men he's with don't make those demands. With the advent of the apps getting smarter and speedier, he even goes to cumdumps from time to time (as a top only) usually on the way home from work. His sex life is probably 50% male partners, 50% female partners.

But in his public facing affect, he is "able to pass" very convincingly presenting as a traditionally masculine straight male, and is living the American dream of respectability with the wife, the kid in private school, the house in the burbs, the cars, the dog, etc.

Writing all this because I was around when his child was born. He's a good dad. I can't help but wonder if the kid will slowly realize while growing up, "my dad cheated on my mom, my dad had sex with other men..." because he has cheated dozens, if not over a hundred times, since the child was born.

Not mine.

by Anonymousreply 12May 12, 2024 1:18 AM

Why, is it genetic? Are bisexuals “born this way”?

by Anonymousreply 13May 12, 2024 1:25 AM

My mom is full on gay.

by Anonymousreply 14May 12, 2024 1:27 AM

Obviously not

by Anonymousreply 15May 12, 2024 1:30 AM

I always wondered about my dad. He had very gay sensibilities especially when it came to pop culture.

by Anonymousreply 16May 12, 2024 1:47 AM

My father was secretly gay and died of AIDS in the early 1990s. I have a lot of trouble forgiving him for the destruction that caused in his family. I was only 18 and the whole situation was absolutely devastating.

by Anonymousreply 17May 12, 2024 1:52 AM

My dad used to sing along to the 80s Flash Gordon movie theme song?? Somebody on here said that was questionable. He had lots of straight porn though.

by Anonymousreply 18May 12, 2024 2:13 AM

My dad was a major poon hound ..Don Draper. Mum on the other hand always got misty eyed when she spoke of her best schoolgirl chum Sylvia. When Mum died I was cleaning out her library and found a book with a small snap of her in a boat with another girl. The book was The Well Of Loneliness. We never really know anyone.

by Anonymousreply 19May 12, 2024 2:23 AM

Yes, but he told me it was only when he was with me.

by Anonymousreply 20May 12, 2024 2:27 AM

R17 I’m sorry. That is actually very tough. Hopefully you can forgive him one day.

by Anonymousreply 21May 12, 2024 2:34 AM

My father had the Barbra Streisand Maxwell House Coffee Christmas album in his collection. I always wondered about him.

by Anonymousreply 22May 12, 2024 2:43 AM

My dad had an uncle who, somehow through extensive multi-age dynamics, was younger than my dad and died in his early 20s from rheumatic heart failure complications. My dad was apparently inseparable from him and reminisced about the guy wistfully very frequently. When I came out to my parents, my dad said that “lots of people go through those different kinds of feelings when they’re younger…” I never broached the subject with my dad, but I often tried to connect the dots in my head about everything he’d say. My parents were married happily for decades, anyway, so who knows.

by Anonymousreply 23May 12, 2024 3:17 AM

Sounds similar to what my parents said. Anything but gay.

by Anonymousreply 24May 12, 2024 3:40 AM

I met a guy in grad school who proudly celebrated becoming a dad. I met him in a gay bathhouse the same night. I am not kidding. He then was very average looking with a boring personality and I would have never thought he’d hook up with men.

by Anonymousreply 25May 12, 2024 4:02 AM

You knew him first while in grad school, and then ran into him at the bathhouse?

by Anonymousreply 26May 12, 2024 4:31 PM

The guy was in grad school. Not so the tub queen who did him that night.

by Anonymousreply 27May 12, 2024 4:41 PM

“How should I know, darling? He’s never sucked my cock.”

by Anonymousreply 28May 12, 2024 4:47 PM

R17 I can only imagine how difficult that would have been. But know that people were hiding who they were because of stigma, we are all human and I am sure he never wanted to hurt anyone.

That was a very challenging time but made worse for you. I hope you can forgive him and move on with you life so you are free to enjoy.

by Anonymousreply 29May 12, 2024 6:26 PM

No, but I think my parrot may be bisexual.

by Anonymousreply 30May 12, 2024 8:33 PM

Have you ever kissed a parrot ?

How about a cockatoo?
