CNN host Poppy Harlow will leave the network after 16 years

Poppy Harlow, the once-rising-CNN-star, has announced she's leaving the network next week after 16 years at the news channel. The move comes one year after the 'shake up' at CNN's morning show, which saw her co-host Kaitlan Collins was moved to prime-time and co-anchor Don Lemon was abruptly fired. The morning show has suffered in the ratings and has gone through more shake-ups in the past twelve months, the latest being this past February. Harlow's last day is scheduled for next week.

Murdoch Post links give clickdollars and SEO to people who hate gays

R1 Then don't click on it. It's as easy as that.

I won’t miss her. She seemed like a bitch

by Anonymousreply 3April 27, 2024 12:46 AM

The purpose of the morning show? Was to get rid of 🍋. Also, I think CNN should get rid of Collins and hire Cassidy Hutchison in her place.

I never took a liking to Poppy either. Never understood what all the fuss was about with her. She came across as cold and disinterested in everything she reported. That's not good for a morning host.

It will be interesting to see who comes back to CNN - especially if it's Lemon.

Aaay Papi

by Anonymousreply 6April 27, 2024 1:08 AM

I’ll never forget seeing her throw a big bag of fast food trash out of her car window that one time.

The Poppy is Also a Flower.

by Anonymousreply 8April 27, 2024 1:14 AM

She was named after Poppy Bush.

by Anonymousreply 9April 27, 2024 1:15 AM

Chasity, get out of that bush!

by Anonymousreply 10April 27, 2024 1:17 AM

Considering the recent plethora of NY Post-linked submissions, I suspect OP is on the payroll.

Actually, yes.

It’s a clickbait

She booked my CEO on her show once (mid 2010s.) She was polite and straightforward. I trusted her. Positive impression.

by Anonymousreply 12April 27, 2024 3:42 AM

Bye. Like many on-air “journalists” at CNN, seemingly hired originally because of their exotic names or speaking accents.

by Anonymousreply 13April 27, 2024 5:26 AM

Never understood the hire either. She was never particularly intelligent, pretty or captivating. I wonder what the thought around hiring her was or if she just had connections.

by Anonymousreply 14April 27, 2024 5:29 AM

Who’s going to replace her, r13? Dippy Doodah?

by Anonymousreply 15April 27, 2024 5:33 AM

I fainted when I heard the news.

She took a leave to go to law school or take a law program of some sort. Wisely, she saw the writing on the wall (as should they all, for the most part... dying business. And look at LaDonna these days.) She will do better than most.

by Anonymousreply 17April 27, 2024 12:20 PM

It was hard taking someone with the name of 'Poppy Harlow' as a journalist / news host. I can't imagine taking her seriously as 'Attorney Poppy Harlow'. The name fits an exotic dancer or porn actress.

by Anonymousreply 18April 27, 2024 3:30 PM

Bye! Never liked her. Low energy and boring.

by Anonymousreply 19April 27, 2024 4:23 PM

I'll miss her. I liked her interviews and laid back approach. Always preferred her over sensationalist "personalities" who take themselves and their opinions way too serious.

by Anonymousreply 20April 27, 2024 4:30 PM

I liked her too. They have totally abandoned the "morning chat" format after Chris Licht came in and totally destroyed whatever decent programming CNN had left last year. The morning program they have now is very no nonsense, straight forward, and unfortunately in preparation for a 2nd Trump Administration.

by Anonymousreply 21April 27, 2024 4:48 PM

John Berman is phoning it in these days. I don't think he is long for CNN.

by Anonymousreply 22April 27, 2024 4:54 PM

well r22, John Berman has been their go to fill in person forever, after so many years of being foisted from timeslot to timeslot I would be phoning it in too. Also their new morning program is way more serious than the last one he did, very little opportunity to be engaging. We are in Trump coverage hell yet again so I doubt that will change

by Anonymousreply 23April 27, 2024 5:06 PM

Berman and Camerota were a great pair.
