How many people post on Datalounge these days?

It’s the waning days of April 2024, and this backwater swamp of website seems totally deserted, with tumbleweeds floating gently through

by Anonymousreply 26April 27, 2024 5:58 PM

Do you think I’m Muriel?

by Anonymousreply 1April 26, 2024 4:12 PM

Muriel’s dead

by Anonymousreply 2April 26, 2024 4:14 PM

No boards on boards!

I'll be here until the lights go out.

by Anonymousreply 5April 26, 2024 4:28 PM

Active posters? Between 25 and 50. Readers/lurkers? A couple hundred.

But I love you all.

by Anonymousreply 6April 26, 2024 4:31 PM

200+ is winning the poll

I can’t believe that. Maybe DL had 200 + READERS, but the same 41-50 people post threads and respond to threads.

by Anonymousreply 7April 26, 2024 4:32 PM

I'm here every day but maybe start a post just once or twice a year and reply only once a month at most.

by Anonymousreply 8April 26, 2024 5:54 PM

Why is that r8?

by Anonymousreply 9April 26, 2024 5:58 PM

I don't have a lot to talk about I guess

by Anonymousreply 10April 26, 2024 6:32 PM

R7 Not really. Something like a total of 45% of those voting think it's less than 30 people left and some of the 30 think it's even fewer.

by Anonymousreply 11April 26, 2024 7:09 PM

If all the Datalounge posters were laid end to end, I wouldn't be at all surprised.

by Anonymousreply 12April 26, 2024 7:18 PM

I'd say the neighborhood of 75-300 paid members. The free users/"prime time" people are probably within 1,000 active users. I recently stumbled upon the Mediapolis website and noticed that any major DataLounge references were completely scrubbed. I hope it's not a sign of what's to come...

by Anonymousreply 13April 27, 2024 7:30 AM

Ugh, this thread makes me sad. I miss the good old days of DL. Where has everyone gone?

by Anonymousreply 14April 27, 2024 7:42 AM

I guarantee nobody misses THAT one.

by Anonymousreply 15April 27, 2024 1:35 PM

DL is on the site.

Although, to be a website company, their site is horrid!

by Anonymousreply 16April 27, 2024 1:52 PM

But it uses cutting-edge IOWA software!

by Anonymousreply 17April 27, 2024 1:54 PM

I think it depends on the current headlines. If there is a major celebrity incident, especially a celebrity that is gay adjacent, I know that drives a ton of traffic here. I know I drop in frequently then. Other than that it's mostly routine threads about old whores, recipes, 80s sitcoms and other eldergay centric topics

by Anonymousreply 19April 27, 2024 4:17 PM

As a longtime user, I post less and less. Primarily because:

There are too many threads on trivial topics.

Too many threads where one poster is talking to himself and repeat posting.

Too many threads that deteriorate into fights even though it’s anonymous

Probably reflects the grossness or the web in general but Datalounge is becoming increasingly useless even for entertainment purposes.

DL definitely lost 1/2 of their hyper-witty and very intelligent older posters, who were as sharp as tacks. I hope not to heaven , yet, where they all are surely headed! 😇

by Anonymousreply 21April 27, 2024 5:18 PM

r20 I also visit here less often because there is still no way quickly sort out topics, definitely don't have time for infinite scrolling to find topics I want to comment on

by Anonymousreply 22April 27, 2024 5:26 PM

It's way more than you think.

by Anonymousreply 23April 27, 2024 5:29 PM

Honey, that's where all of us are headed. You and me included.

by Anonymousreply 24April 27, 2024 5:32 PM

It has been very slow in the past and then suddenly picked up again. Hope that happens soon.

by Anonymousreply 25April 27, 2024 5:35 PM

R20 has summed it up
