It's such a wonderful portrayal of young gay love in the city.
Christian Campbell was a cute Twink and Jean Paul Pitoc was a handsome stud.
The world still seemed full of possibilities back then.

And who could forget Tori's wonderful performance of "Enter You."
Musical comedy at its finest.

I loved this movie, too. Funny and sweet. Wish the planned sequel had been made.
by Anonymous | reply 2 | April 22, 2024 4:23 PM |
Christian Campbell looked TOTALLY gay in this movie. I saw him in a scene from a movie from 2015. He's completely naked full rearal and full frontal. He looks very good in that movie and heterosexual. Do we think he's gay or straight?
by Anonymous | reply 3 | April 22, 2024 4:23 PM |
The ending of the movie was very sad in the sense that the World Trade Center was front and center. Two years later, they would be destroyed, Bush would be in office and it would take 15 years for Gay marriage to be legal.

It captured that time in NYC beautifully. Fun fun fun.
by Anonymous | reply 5 | April 22, 2024 4:27 PM |
I wanted to fuck both men in that movie, Campbell and Pitoc. Also, wanted to blow& swallow both of them.
Thanks DL for reminding me about this movie.
by Anonymous | reply 6 | April 22, 2024 4:28 PM |
1999 was the good old days for me- I could walk into a gay bar in NYC like g lounge and get cruised by good looking guys.
by Anonymous | reply 7 | April 22, 2024 4:29 PM |
It really was fantastic, in a small and endearing way. It also came at a time of hope, with effective AIDS treatments and the mixed but still improved policies of the Clinton Administration.
When Bush strongarmed his way into the White House, it seemed like everything came crashing down. Which it really did.
by Anonymous | reply 8 | April 22, 2024 4:29 PM |
Christian is going to be 52 this year and he looks fantastic.
by Anonymous | reply 9 | April 22, 2024 4:30 PM |
The little details of Gabriel and Mark's budding romance, was what made the movie.
They were so cute trying to get to know each other, and always having something get in the way.
What started out as a desperate attempt to have a fast hook up, ended up with them actually liking each other.
And finally, the kiss at the end.
*sigh*

Perfect movie for that time in my life. I was in college, watched it for the first time with friends in my dorm room, rented from Hollywood Video! Watched it again the next night on a date with a guy who lived in another floor. Good times.

The best part of the movie was Tori Spelling.
by Anonymous | reply 12 | April 22, 2024 5:04 PM |
R9- I don't care if he has a wife and all . Hearing him say good morning. He does have a notably fruity voice.
He's a closeted eldergay.

Sorry datalounge people. The version I posted is dubbed in Italian.

I looked and looked. It's not available to stream ( in English) anywhere right now.

Also featuring Coco Peru and future Tired Old Queen at the Movies Steve Hayes.
by Anonymous | reply 18 | April 22, 2024 6:37 PM |
I met Steve Hayes once. More like nasty old queen.

Really like this movie

The best part of this body was how hot JP Pitoc was. He didn't have much of a career after this, unfortunately.

It's being added to the Criterion Channel's lineup in May, R17.

I think the only thing I ever saw JP in after Trick was a guest spot on Six Feet Under.
by Anonymous | reply 23 | April 22, 2024 8:29 PM |
R21 Christian had a fucking nice body as well.
by Anonymous | reply 24 | April 22, 2024 8:39 PM |
R23, I saw him on an episode of Cold Case
by Anonymous | reply 25 | April 22, 2024 8:58 PM |
Christian still has a nice body, R25.
Probably the same or even better than when he was a young Twink.

Man, are they slumming.

The internet destroyed gay life. Now it's just guys in darkened rooms cruising the internet with their hands down their pants. I never see gays anywhere.

Totally.
The scene in op's link shows a time without social media. where people just talked, and actually interacted with each other. Gabriel actually used a pay phone, and left a message on voice mail!
It was simpler, but much more fun.
by Anonymous | reply 30 | April 22, 2024 9:44 PM |
Christian's sister is eternally ageless Neve Campbell. Obviously good genetics run in the family. I would love to see these two in a movie together.
by Anonymous | reply 31 | April 22, 2024 11:46 PM |
R19- He sounds like the stereotypical datalounger.
by Anonymous | reply 32 | April 23, 2024 1:01 AM |
My favorite scene is when Coco Peru corners Gabriel in the bathroom.
"It burrrrrrnnnsssss!!!"
by Anonymous | reply 33 | April 23, 2024 1:48 AM |
This was a very good gay movie, just the right amount of humor, sweetness, and snapshot of gay culture in lower Manhattan in the late 1990s. I think I ended up seeing it three times over the course of a few months. I really liked how they ended it just as the sun is coming up and a new day is starting.
Spoiler:
Don't click on the below video clip link if you haven't seen the film, as it is the ending.

I have the movie poster and the "It's big, it's beautiful, and you're going to love it" t-shirt that I bought at the time when the movie was in theaters.

Coco is Golden.

I saw Christian Campbell in the off-Broadway musical Reefer Madness.

For such a beloved movie, no one attached to it, in front of or behind the camera went on to do much.

R38 Love that show. Damn 9/11 killing any chance it had.
by Anonymous | reply 40 | April 23, 2024 4:49 AM |
Things before 9/11 seem fresh, happy and innocent.

And that's all that really matters in life, right?
by Anonymous | reply 42 | April 23, 2024 6:11 PM |
The thing about JP Pitoc is that he wasn't actually handsome (his ears stuck out and he had a turned up nose); he was instead extremely well built in "Trick.," which was the source of his hotness. Maybe he was juicing then?
In any case, by the time he did "Six feet under" he had lost his youthful charm as well as the killer body (though he was still quite fit), so he wasn't very interesting.
by Anonymous | reply 43 | April 23, 2024 6:13 PM |
R43, I have to agree he was a lot less appealing in Six Feet Under. I wonder what he's up to today and how well he's aged?
by Anonymous | reply 44 | April 23, 2024 6:16 PM |
Christian's dick vastly exceeds my expectations.

The song Trick of Fate made me believe that anything was possible with finding a special someone, until reality disabused me of that notion.
by Anonymous | reply 47 | April 24, 2024 12:50 AM |
I believe this is a very recent photo of JP Pitoc. I think he has matured very nicely and is still quite hot.
by Anonymous | reply 48 | April 24, 2024 1:32 AM |
He is dreamy. As fuck. I want him in me, quite deeply.
by Anonymous | reply 49 | April 24, 2024 1:38 AM |

Christian has done full frontal.

I love this movie. The late 90s were a great time for little gay movies, with this and also Beautiful Things and Get Real—also excellent. I had such a crush on Ben Silverstone from Get Real. He gave up acting and became a lawyer.
After Trick, Christian was on All My Children for a while as a recast Bobby Warner. He was a great addition to the cast and they should have done a lot more with him, but they just let him drift off the canvas. I don’t think he was even on a year.
by Anonymous | reply 53 | April 26, 2024 12:10 AM |
R53 I was crushing on Ben Silverstone in Get Real too! Loved that movie so much. Beautiful Thing, too, but Silverstone's charm made Get Real my favorite of the two.
Sad that he gave up acting.
by Anonymous | reply 54 | April 26, 2024 12:25 AM |
I loved the German movie “Maybe. Maybe Not.” Unfortunately, the trailer tones down the gay aspects of the movie.
